[caption id="attachment_22" align="alignleft" width="203" caption="Step Up 2 : The Streets"][/caption]

This movie is a sequel from the previous one, titled the same – Step Up, without numbers of course. Still like the first one, the story is about a dance survival. I mean, it’s about how to prove something for people that doesn’t even know what someone else struggle for is existed.

I may never saw the prequel – Step Up, but I was encouraged to watch this movie – Step Up 2, because of the good and interesting the trailer it was. And so, I’m encouraged to watch this movie because of a good recommend of a friend. Hell yeah, he borrowed me the DVD.

It was all about a girl. A girl who’s trying to prove that she know what she was doing. What she was struggling for. For whom and what she’s trying to deal with. Her life, and dreams. For the things that she always wanted to be.

This movie started with a scene on the subway. How some young people get danced and improvised. Good and great scene of course, but it’s disturbing though. It just doesn’t make any sense how a subway could be a place for an act. I called it an act because it was a movie, right? But, maybe that’s exactly what does the director wanted to show nor share.

Overall, this movie has a good moral. It taught how a team work is needed to get something good. It taught how a dreams could driven people to do beyond their abilities. It taught how – sometimes, dreams aren’t unreachable. Dreams just there, waiting for us to try whatever it takes to get it. It taught us to brave to break the rule – but in positive meaning of course.

Some people said that, after watched this movie, they just wanted to step up, to dance, to get their interest and feels it. Those people are they who got a bright ways to do something. Great! It reminds me on myself about two years ago – but this story will be posted on another occasion.

For the conclusion, Step Up 2 – The Streets: INTERESTING!

So knock your self out ! www.surfthechannel.com

MERCOLEDI:

I automatically woke up early. Back to being a housemaid, I guess. I was straightening the house when my Auntie Baby called. She wanted me to go there and help her with the tarpauline. I said, I will but I'll finish first my chores. After I finished all the chores, I watched Step Up 2: The Streets.

STEP UP 2: THE STREETS

STARRING: ROBERT HOFFMAN III, BRIANA EVIGAN, CASSIE, ADAM SEVANI

     Step Up 2 the Streets is set in Baltimore, Maryland. It follows Andie West (Briana Evigan) as she pursues her big dream of becoming a street dancer. Her mother died of cancer when Andie was 16; she now lives with her mother's best friend, Sarah (her guardian), but in reality, Andie feels like she does not belong anywhere. Although she is doing badly at school, it is her passion for dancing that brings something good into her life. She rehearses regularly with her 'crew', the "410", to keep the title of the illegal competition, 'The Streets'. Sarah is tired of the crime and harassment by the 410 and tells Andie she will have to go to live with her aunt in Texas if she doesn't turn her life around.

Andie's older foster brother Tyler Gage (Channing Tatum, who was the protagonist in Step Up 1, meets her at the dance club, The Dragon. Tyler tries to persuade her to audition for the Maryland School of the Arts (MSA), where Andie has to compete for a place, thinking it will help her life as it did his. When Andie refuses, Tyler decides to battle her for it. In a memorable dance scene, Tyler does great moves and wins the battle. The two head back to her place and Tyler convinces Sarah to let her join MSA. She eventually agrees, and Tyler leaves Andie to audition at MSA while he goes on tour with Nora, confident that she can make it. Chase Collins (Robert Hoffman III) persuades the school director (his brother) Blake (Will Kemp) to recruit Andie after seeing a spectacular performance. When Andie's studies come before the crew, the members are not happy and decide to kick her out. So Andie and Chase form a new crew with help from many people Chase knows at the school, all of whom are not accepted as who they are, including Andie's new friend Moose (Adam G. Sevani). Chase has a copied key to the studio and the crew secretly practices their routine late at night when the school is empty. They perform at the local dance club, but are rejected and kicked out. Missy (Andie's friend, played by Danielle Polanco) joins the crew after dropping out of the 410 following the event, as she is disgusted by the crowd's reaction. Missy tells the crew that the only way to enter The Streets is to first do a prank and post it on the Internet to show that the crew is entering the competition. Wanting revenge from being humiliated before, Chase decides for their prank that they are going to make a fool out of Tuck (leader of the 410), as well as leave a dead fish in the vent of Tuck's home.

The crew goes to a family barbecue at Missy's house, and Chase's ex-girlfriend, Sophie, tags along. She begins to develop a crush on Moose after salsa dancing with him.

The 410 doesn't like the fact that they have a new crew to compete with so they warn Andie's group to stay out of The Streets or there will be consequences. When Tuck finds Chase, he assaults him for his prank. Chase comes into school the next day badly bruised and hurt. On top of that, the dance studio has been trashed by the 410 the previous night. Director Collins decides that he will not allow anyone from the school to be involved in illegal competitions. He then decides to expel Andie from MSA because of her involvement with the Streets competition after a tip-off from Sophie. When asked if there were any other students involved, Andie does not tell him about her crew.

When Sarah hears the news of Andie's expulsion, she tells her that she has had enough of her behavior and that Andie now must go to live with her aunt in Texas. Just when Andie is packing her bags to leave for Texas, she receives a text message from Missy that The Streets is on that night - the same night as the MSA fundraiser. Along with Andie, her whole crew gets the text message. They decide to ditch the MSA fundraiser (except for Moose) and instead compete in The Streets. Sarah hears about what Andie did to protect her crew and is proud of her. She allows Andie to compete at The Streets with her crew.

When Collins realizes that his students are missing, he questions Sophie, who tells him where they are. Moose overhears and admits to being part of the crew, taking Collins and Sophie to The Streets just in time for the crew's performance. The director sees them compete and realizes that the street dancing he has been opposing is in fact a legitimate form of artistic expression. He accepts Andie into MSA again.

To Moose's surprise, he gets kissed by Sophie. With Andie's crew being supportive friends and her education now secured, the film finds its optimistic ending - a passionate kiss between Andie and Chase.

         One of the best movies I've seen. Wow. I like the all of the dancing; the salsa, ballet, hiphop, and everything. It's the bomb, and the plot wasn't that complicated, and the love story wasn't that cheesy.

    9 out of ten stars.

    Jabbawockeez also had an appearance in the film, and of course, they're dancing. The ACDC was there (Adam Chu Dance Cru) and they're the coolest thing in the show. I just don't get it why they lost to M&M Cru in the online dance battle, to the fact that Miley Cyrus can't dance. Mandy Jiroux can, because I've seen her dance ballet in one of there videos, but Miley,...tsk tsk.. They don't focus the camera on her. Haha.

     After watching the movie, I went to my aunt's house to help her with the tarpauline. I saw the debutante's picture, and she's so pretty. Chubby but pretty. I made her tarpauline, and I used pink background and butterflies in it. My aunt told me to sleep in their house that night, because we need to meet up early (we're going to Dangwa) the next day. I insisted that I need to go home. You know, I can't sleep in other place but my bedroom. So I went home, and I watched Step Up 2 again, and this time, with my brothers.

    hat reminded me of dancing. You know, I've been dancing for some time, and I just stopped when I started to work. Well, I wish I could have my own crew too. Haha. Well, I do belong in a dance group before, but it was long ago, and the members of that group have different interests now. Like Sarah, I heard she's into piano/organ, and Sheena, who's now into guitar. I haven't heard from the others yet. It's just sad.

GIOVEDI:

    I'm a man (or woman) of word, but these adults were not. My aunts and I agreed to leave 4:30 o'clock in the morning. I woke up 4 in the morning, took a bath and went to Auntie Baby's house. She's prepared, but my Aunt ebec wasn't. I was like, "What are you doing? We suppose to leave at 4:30!!!!" But I just sat down and ate breakfast and shut up.

     At last, the two were ready and we left. We're way behind our agreement. We left at exactly 6 am, and I hate that. But what can I do? I'm just a kid, you know. And these aunts really think that everything they do is right.

     It was a cold and rainy day, but we made it to Dangwa dry and safe. We started to pick flowers. I had this feeling before, you know. Flowers really make me weak. I was practically awed by those beautiful creatures.

         After buying flowers, we went to Time and ate breakfast (part 2) in Jollibee. As usual, I had burger and fries. We went back to my aunt's house and started to work.

      I told my auntie ebec that we're gonna the orb design. But like what I've said, sometimes, adults think that everything they do is right. She's doing her own design. Whatever. I'm tired of arguing with her, 'cause I argued enough that day. As usual, while working, she's told me stories about how she learned arranging flowers, as if it's a legendary myth of someone worth passing on to the next generation. Haha.

         Around 7 pm, we're almost done. My called to ask me how was I doing, and that's the time I decided to go home. My aunt told me to spend the night at their house, so I just went home to get my things that I'll use the next day. Josh went with. I got home, and it's my mom's off so the house was gleaming clean again, especially my bedroom. My sheets were new, and it's blue.

         I packed my stuff in my blue, Fila backpack. I forgot that Norman (ex-best friend) drooled on it when he used it as a pillow when he was drunk, the last time we went to Fraya's house. I decided to bring my orange dress, which I've worn only once since I bought it, and my new pair of Skechers.

          We went back to my aunt's house and I went to sleep.

VENERDI:

         My allergies got worse. I get this when I eat too much sweets, and these past few days, I know I've been eating a lot of sweets, like caramel sundae and caramel popcorn.

         I promised myself that I'll have my fingers checked first thing this week.

        We went to the venue and started working. After designing and decorating the whole place, I tried making a flower crown for myself, but in the end, I had to give because I was running out of time, and I need to get dressed for the occasion. But first, I took pictures first.

         I changed into my orange dress, and everybody said it was so nice on me. Haha. The caterer saw me and she asked me, "You're so pretty, are you the one who was pumping the balloons earlier today?" I laughed and said yes, I just let my hair down. Plus, a little dose of concealer works.

         The party started late, and it was boring. It's not that I'm old or what, but I didn't feel like partying that time. After dinner, I just buried my head in my arms and slept. And missed all of happenings.

        I woke up when the party was over and we had to pack up. It was midnight when we finished. My aunt told me to spend the night at their house, but I insisted to go home. You know, I couldn't bear sleeping again at Jamie’s room. It's not really my style so it makes me itch.

          My aunt gave me six hundred bucks for my three-day service. To tell you the truth, I was a little disappointed because I was so tired. And my current job pays me 700 bucks a day (or night). Haha. But believe it or not, I even do that for free, before. I'm not really after the money, but the pleasure of working with the most beautiful creatures (flowers). I borrowed the memory card from my aunt's camera, and she said that I need to finish laying-out the pictures for the album. Whoa, more work for me.

         The driver dropped me at in our house, and I was home at exactly one am. I went to sleep after I washed and changed my clothes.

        Today, it's Yin's birthday. I couldn't believe that it's almost a year since she had her 18th birthday. She's nineteen now I texted her, first thing in the morning, and she said that I was the only person who wished her a happy birthday. I was like, "Duh, what about your mom?" Well, I miss my bestfriend so much. Unlike this Norman dude (or gay), who ditched me and vanished without a word.

           I also replied to Mark's text and he thinks that my pictures are cool. Well, I've been taking pictures for so long, that's why. Plus, we paid so much for the photography course I had in Letran, which I didn't finish, crap, that reminds me of how irresponsible I was before, and the bad experiences I had with my peers. You know, the weirdo-image.

         I went back to sleep after breakfast and watched MEET DAVE with Mom when I woke up.

Jabbawockeez!! Most of these guys are filipinos, im not sure how many of them are. Anyways, there should be no doubt in their greatness. The art of dancing in the Philippines, specifically hiphop and street, is rapidly growing. I also think that it does not only help us bring out our potential in being great dancers but more importantly it can help us be one. We have won 2 times in the World Hip Hop Championships, thanks to the Philippine Allstars. Their success have inspired a lot of filipinos in the world including me. They have proved to me that even though i have come from a small country i can still do things.

I attended my first hip hop class last night at the same studio where sis and I are taking adult beg

I attended my first hip hop class last night at the same studio where sis and I are taking adult beginner ballet. Actually, I attended two classes. The first class was for super-beginners, the second for regular beginners. I didn't know what my level was so I decided to take both. Teachers are a mercurial breed. Some are strict about the class progression, some are willing to evaluate you based on your class performance. In the end she let me take the more advanced beginner class which was definitely more my pace.

Onto the class itself: simply put, it was slammin'. I was in hip hop heaven. Our teacher, Angelica, was a tough, exacting and strict mistress. She had rules about our performance ("only the best"), shoes (dance sneakers or jazz shoes) and wardrobe (tights under booty shorts). She obviously had previous classical training exoerience because she used the proper terminology to indicate stances (e.g., "parallel second position plié" vs. "stand with your feet apart and bend your knees"). Since this is the start of the semester she at first made us all freestyle across the floor so she could see how we moved. Then she taught us an opening routine that was very simple, but she expected us to execute precisely. No loosey-goosey, no shortcuts.

And the best part? All three of her hip hop classes are going to participate in the school RECITAL! How off the hook is that? I haven't been in an actual dance performance since...oh, least year. I forgot all about this.

And now, since I'm in a hip hop mood, may I present a hip hop dance sequence from another favorite dance movie, Step Up 2, the final street dance:

Dear Uncle Ted,

What cool shit will be happening at the Democratic National Convention?

Grover Sandusky, Spokane, WA

Grover, my boy - glad you asked.

Day 1

Event Highlights:

Apple Pie Bake-Off

Livestock Exhibition and Chicken Judging (Luke Russert's tribute to his dad, a black Australorp named Timothy, is favored for the blue ribbon and best of show)

Party business (DNC leadership has been feeling the pressure from the pro-"Step Up 2:The Streets" faction of the party. Will they adopt the controversial constitutional amendment banning marriage between rhythmically-challenged Americans as part of the Democratic platform? Or will the eugenecists get served? Watch tonight and find out.)

Speaker Highlights:

Former President Jimmy Carter finally reveals his deep, dark secret that he's been keeping from his wife - AND HIS GIRLFRIEND. And Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper will finally reveal that his real name is Parkay McMonkeyballs.

Day 2

Event Highlights:

Swimsuit competition

NORML-sponsored pizza party and Tele-Tubbies marathon in their "Education" tent just outside the Pepsi Center

Speaker Highlights:

Hillary Rodham Clinton will attempt to unify the party with a speech that will touch on themes of unity, change and history, followed by the ritualistic eating of the still-beating hearts of several members of RNC leadership in order to gain their strength and knowledge. Some vitreous and entrails will be reserved to anoint the presumptive nominee at INVESCO Field later in the week.

Day 3

Event Highlights:

Roll Call. Senator Clinton is expected to be put up for nomination, as well as I.P. Freely, Oliver Clothesoff, and Jacques Strapp. Mike Rotch is expected to finish second, behind Senator Obama in the delegate count.

Speaker Highlights:

Senator Joe Biden and Former President Bill Clinton will sing a program of madrigals and English ballads, concluding with "Greensleeves."

Day 4

Event Highlights:

In what is guaranteed to be the most dramatic moment of the convention, an ailing Ted Kennedy will pass the Orb of Delano, source of all mystical liberal power in the universe, to the nominee, Senator Barack Obama. A thousand golden warrior ninjas, protectors of the Orb, will descend on Mile High Stadium and swear their fealty to Obama, pledging their loyalty until the enemies of the Democratic party lie in pools of their own blood.

A reception will follow at the Hilton.

-Unk.

RIDICULOUS Miley Gossip

Now I mean c'mon, that's just plain ridiculous! They're just riding bikes with each other! "Miley's New Man?" , Ugh c'mon people, we know that they're friends, why else would they have a dance battle with each other? So why are people sooo surprised that she riding her bike with him?! Chillax people. Miley isn't trying to get in the pants of every single guy she hangs out with. lmao. But seriously, I think that now they're just getting carried away with this whole Miley thing. I mean, "New Man"? they're just hanging out, so step off. (And I know I'm not usually one to back up Miley, but in this case, leave the girl alone)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chris Brown was verryy angry when he found out that his song 'Electric Guitar (Let Go)' was leaked before it's offcial release date. Electric Guitar, which is supposed to be a duet with Rihanna, was leaked featuring only his voice. But anyway I actually really like the song and it has a great beat. Click here to listen to Electric Guitar (Chris Brown Only).
R+B stunner Cassie Ventura regrets not taking more acting classes before starring in Step Up 2: The Streets - because her performance was "a mess".
The singer jumped at the chance to score her first major movie role in the film, but now wishes she had waited for a part she could have been better prepared for.
She says, "I don't think I took enough classes. Reacting to five other people is completely different than being with an acting coach."
And she recalls the embarrassment of almost maiming a co-star when the task of driving and remembering her lines left her more than a little confused.
She tells Complex magazine, "I'm a horrible driver and my first day on set I had to drive a car and act at the same time. I was thinking about too many things at once... I almost ran over the girl that I was talking to. It was just a mess."
Have you ever had an epiphany? Well I had one, yesterday in fact. I was sitting on the couch watching Step Up 2 with my sister and my cousin, when I suddenly realized I would rather be going to Maryland School of the Arts (MSA) rather than Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST). And I'm sure you notice the huge difference between the two schools. I finally realized that I have a huge decision in front of me. I like, no, love, to sing and act and just perform for people. But I also like dealing with them and their problems, so I have to make a choice. It's crazy!
On a lighter note, oh-my-gosh we were at the library today for summer school and my friend, Dani, started flipping out on the computer searching for pictures of hot guys through google. Well technically I looked up Daniel Henney first, but then she went crazy so heh. She went through Channing Tatum, then I forced Robert Hoffman into the screen, and then she went to Chris Brown and Bow Wow. It was seriously a "wow" moment (I'm punny, aren't I?). I personally think that Robert Hoffman is the best ever. I'm just saying.
I guess I'm a few months behind on this one, but i'm not a youtube junkie, so this one's for those like me, who don't know EVERYTHING going on, just most of it.  For those who don't know, it is the director of Step Up 2 and Adam Sevani (Moose, from the movie) involved in an online battle with the M&M crew of Miley (yes, Cyrus) and Mandy.  Be sure to check the related videos on youtube for other vids like it, including celebrity dancers...oh, and check out the moves these 2 guys do at about the 3:20 mark...sick!!!
I guess dancing has become my “new” obsession…
Step Up 2…I loved the origina
I guess dancing has become my "new" obsession...
Step Up 2...I loved the original Step Up, and I knew that the sequel would be, well, ick...
Turned out the script is kinda cheesy, but the dancers can freaking dance! And hip hop, I love watching it ever since Chris Kim from Glenbrook South performed a helicopter in the annual variety show...I am always in awe...and if you can't get through dance movies, let me save you the trouble and go straight to the last dance sequence...hip hop, street-style in the rain. It was gorgeous and hard-hitting...the dancing was AMAZING, choreography that will blow your mind, and by the time the final scene ends (a little abruptly, I might add), you are just like me....staring blankly at the screen in total awe. FABULOUSO...I might just buy the DVD for that scene alone.  Found out that the main actress (who did have that "it" factor, although she looks like Sophia Bush, which isnt a bad thing!) was trained by Shane Sparks...who I LOVE!  Gotta love people who can dance (and sort of act...)
I love dance movies because I think dance is the one thing that is universal...everyone (even the left foot ones) can move to a beat.
And that got me thinking...what are people's favorite movie dance moments?
Here's mine: Centerstage finale...Dirty Dancing (of course) finale...and possibly Step Up 2...
(I swear I will get off this dance kick, but I am currently obsessed...although I have noticed a surge of dancing in the media...SYTYCD and Dancing with the Stars, etc...but now even Target's ads for college dormwear is featuring choreography...go figure.)
