Remixers the Freemasons told Madonna to buzz off and they will not be working on her remixes, as they are too busy. Can you say ouch!

Usually, when you are on top in the music industry, writers, producers and remixers will clear their schedules for you. I guess her CD "Hard Candy" bombing doesn't help.

After only 5 weeks of release, Madonna's "Hard Candy" CD has plunged down the charts selling 17,156 copies for the week, which is paltry for a major label act. That can't even pay the payola bill.

De nuevo nos encontramos con una de las parejas de moda de los últimos tiempos, si os hablo de Yves Larock y de Jaba, que retoman el laureado Rise Up para añadirle algunos ritmos más moviditos.

La canción es practicamente la misma pero realizan un edit de la misma y le añaden ritmos de base bastante moviditos. La canción sigue sonando muy bien pero no dista mucho de la original quizas algo más de potencia en algunos momentos hubiese cambiado la cosa, de todas formas esta versión es algo más bailable y gozará de más éxito en las pistas.

Call me what you will, but I actually kind of like the original version of "Damaged" a little bit. At one point, I had it in a set list mixed in with "Klaxons - As Above, So Below (Justice Remix)". Don't worry, It was cool. Anyways, Mr. Gaspar hit me up with a remix of the song that makes me like it even more, he's got a thing for taking lame radio songs and making them cool.

Below is the 3rd track from K-Salaam & Beatnick's Common Remix album.  I'm bitter/sweet.  Resurrection is one of my favorite songs and they do it justice, but I'm pissed that they were able to get there hands on that acapella and I couldn't.  Oh well.

¡Ya está aquí! Ya llegó la selección musico estival de la temporada. Justico para la celebración de los fastos gayers. Ahi está el playlist, tengo cosas que comentar sobre el por qué de cada uno, pero ya lo haré más alante, si eso. Pero en líneas generales diré que ha predominado el hedonismo tirando a frívolo y bailón, con un final un poco más conceptual de cara al horizonte otoñal...

Viene, as always, en versión mix y en versión track by track. El remix esta vez lo hice con otro tipo de compresión a ver si mejoraba la calidad de sonido, pero no sé no sé. Acepto comentarios al respect. Y bueno, no es por nada, pero algunos cambios me quedaron mazo bien. También tengo por ahi un archivo con los tracks pre select, o sea con más finalistas que no lograron llegar por motivos, pero que están fenomenal también, lo cuelgo más alante, si eso, en una posdata.

Tengo a medias un recopilatorio "Quiero siesta y veranos", que como su nombre indica es para esos momentos veraniegos en los que más que chunda chunda apetece música flojica, suavona. Prometo antes de marcharme de vacas tenerlo list-o.

"Awwh, that's OK mister. She sure is a pistol," he surprised me and then upped the anti by continuing on with, "Hey, how about you repay me by buyin' me one of these cards?" He looking up at me like a droopy hound dog who has been around this place longer than dirt.

"What?" I exclaimed in surprise.

"Yah. Yah. He burst. Look, see, I've been payin' down on this Ted Williams card for a couple years now. All I need is another twenty-two bucks and it mine. Sweet Ted. Mister did you know he is last guy to hit over .400 ?"

"We'll yah, of course I do. Everyone knows that, ya little squirt. Is that why you want the card," I asked both of us now eating the popcorn like we were at the movies watching a Godzilla double feature.

"No, I want the card cuz he is coming back and I want to get him to autograph it for me. Wouldn't that be something! I'd be rich if I could get his autograph on his card," he said, clearly having worked his investment out; calculated the appreciation.

"You mean, you think Ted is coming back?" I asked getting real thirsty and starting to wonder how close we were to the cry of "Play Ball" .

"Well yah, of course. He's all frozen proper like out there in the desert or dessert, Alcor is the place; it's only a few miles from my grandparents place. Googled it. Anyway, Ted and his head are just waiting and when he is ready, he is coming back and I'll be right there when he walks out of the facility, flashes blazing like the fourth of July, me calm like. I will I'll be there. And I'll get him to sign the card. So mister, can you help me get the card? Step up man, I won't tell your wife about this Vi dame," he added, as if he was plopping down a weird bruised cherry atop a sundae just served up.

"Kid....why I....well, you are impressive. I'd be delighted to help you get this card," I decided. "Hey Vi," I yelled across the store, "can you give us a hand and get this kid his card. I somehow think you know him. Put the balance on my tab, I gotta run. I can hear the crowd."

People have so much access to information these days. They can define themselves anyway they see pleasurable. Perhaps they like to douse pretty blondes in pink paint and photograph them with chainsaws from the local Home Depot? Is that the sign of a decadent society where we have the time to do all this, shouldn't we be hunting and / or gathering? What do we create which is actually productive? She's obviously not making a house.

Service work doesn't make anything. All the factories have gone, and who actually makes anything at home these days other than diversions like Youtube videos, photographs of random things to put on Flickr, or blogs about music noone has likely heard of? Marx was right, we alienate ourselves because of the fact that we actually make nothing. At least we can dance.

You know, when we're not paying for gas, alcohol, or some other consolation (such as philosophy books), we have the time to sit promote ourselves online. With the explosion of identity, it makes it hard to find people of similar interest.

To me it seems like the world, in Southern CT, is founded upon people who can listen to Bon Jovi or Journey on Saturday Nights for the rest of eternity. Thank God I can write a blog and get emails from cool peeps in Germany turning me onto other mixes.

Here are a few tunes from Max of Saint Pauli, a totally awesome remix group from Hamburg that, as far as I can tell, does not nearly get as much press as they deserve. I actually included their Infadels remix on my last promo mix. It totally rocks cuz it has that combination of punk energy, a catchy vocal hook, and electro house production standards which, to me at least, scream New Alternative.

The first tune is, as far as I can tell, their latest remix, one of the B-52's. It's a total party banger with a quality that, in my opinion surpasses many of the distorted dancing tunes glutting the market. First, it's got crystal clear production.

Second and thirdly, it's got a wonderful sense of contrast to the pulsing, side-chained french synthie sounds, and the arpeggiated melodies on top of it. Along with that, it makes a really clever and effective use of the original vocals.

Without being gimmicky or annoying (like many of the glitchy, stuttery vocal lines in remixes today) Juliette in the Spirits is exhilarating and uplifting, a perfect track for maintaining energy at the prime time of a DJ set or driving 80mph down the highway too while going to work. To me, it's the Summer '08 remix worthy of succeeding Shinichi Osawa's feel good remix of Digitalism's Pogo. Alongside are a few more goodies he sent me. Enjoy!

I wonder what we would all do without the internet now. We have such a heightened sense of who we are as human beings. Diversion is totally rampant, and we can find all the most beautiful girls in the world right on Flickr, some drenched in pink paint. Is there a antithesis to the thesis of the internet? Will the rubber band snap back? Can we really keep on going in this direction into the future, or will it sputter out. I dunno, and the only answer, profound or otherwise I can come up with is, blast your music loud, express yourself first, and don't swallow.

After the success of their last much anticipated ep, Sydney deejays the Bag Raiders are set to release their second ep on Bang Gang 12inches' shortly!

American label Fools' Gold are also re-releasing the first ep with a few new remixes from XXXChange and Jokers of The Scene.

Beta Movement - The Grime Time Mix

I put in on YouTube on June 22, and, as I'm typing this, it's been seen by over 6,000, and its popularity has been doubling every day.  This type of exposure is what I've been DYING for ever since I started making music!

I originally had a download link for the song, as I do all my other songs, and by the end of the second day 29 people had already downloaded it.  This got my mind thinking: would people be willing to pay to download the song?  To find out, I took the original link down and posted up a link where people would have to purchase the song for 99 cents.

After I put the link up, I went to work.  While there, I had a sudden though: what if, instead of making people pay for the song, I used this song as a way to get some of my OTHER music out so people could get a real feel for the type of songs I make??

I've been making songs for quite a few years now, and have enough of a catalogue built up to where I can give some of my songs away for free.  Given that the song got downloaded by so many people so fast, I figured I could provide a link that had the "Obama, Obama" song, and include 4 other songs in the link so people could hear my other songs and, hopefully, start to become fans!

And that's what I did.  Now, the link includes "Obama, Obama," as well as 4 other songs of mine - "Hooptie," "Erectile Dysfunction" (my Snoop Dogg "Sexual Seduction" parody), "Bust My GAT," and "Shout Out 2 My Big Girls." 

So far, the new link has been downloaded 50 times in 3 days, and I couldn't be happier!!  Those downloads probably only represent a fraction of the people who've heard my stuff - I'm assuming those people have made copies for their friends to listen to, which means I'm slowly starting to develop a fan base!!

Little Dragon are from Sweden and their blend of soul, pop and electronica has been getting some attention lately and a couple their tracks are set to feature in the upcoming Hollywood movie 'Women'. Their album track 'Recommendation' has got some heavy remix treatment from Toddla T (yeah i know...two in one day) who's been at the production desk for some of the forthcoming Roots Manuva album.

You probably heard the excellent Fake Blood remix of 'Stuck On Repeat' by Little Boots (aka ex-Dead Disco singer Victoria Hesketh) that was all over the blogs recently. She's a genuine talent and if you haven't already you should be checking out all things Little Boots. Here's a nice remix of one of her tracks by Sheffield producer Toddla T.

Buffet Libre have finally released their 80's cover project 'Rewind' which is a non-commercial tribute to that golden age of music. Head over to BuffetLibre.net and get 57 artist interpretations of their favourites 80’s anthems for free and keep a look out for an accompanying mix which is set for a July 15th release. These two by Culture Prophet and Royal Rumble (pictured) pushed my buttons.

Some mash-up's/blends/etc can be a real mess but this one from Brooklyn duo DDpesh has their trademark pumperknickel funk running through it and it works.

But I still feel that passion for a youth we can still have; and whenever I listen to the Bag Raiders remix of The Galvatron's 'When We Were Kids', I remember those days at the YMCA when the world was hazy and humid, and capture the flag was infinitely satisfying. Who cares if the world is spiraling away from everything that we once knew? Who cares if everything that was meaningful becomes recycled to the point of incomprehension; I can still listen to this Bag Raiders remix and get swept away by it's romantic climax. Life is still beautiful. I still remember summer camp. I haven't changed.

quinten and i were practicing at our space when a tweeker couple decided to visit us. they were dancing and crazy and shaking our hands constantly... making absolutely no sense. they smelled wonderful. they asked for hugs. we tried to usher them to the door. all in all, it was a life affirming experience.

that said, i have learned one thing in the past week: the truth hurts... but it is. you can frame it. you can shape it. you can ignore it. but it doesn't matter in the end.
