Futurecop! is a guy called manzur iqbal... i think thats him here. He started off a year or too ago with absolutely no idea how to produce tracks. Thats right zip, nada. Believe that? Nah me neither but hey the hype goes on.

Now the guy is dropping bonafied nu disco gems.

Nasa is a fun, futuristic dancefloor laser beam. The synths skip across the speakers like little bubbles in a glass of iced perrier. Wow it must be hot cause this tracks gone straight to my head... wtf am i on about.

Just listen you'll soon find out. Futurecop! releases an EP soon, and NASA will appear on the next CMYK mixtape which i promise is on its way.

On the podcast this week: 135 minutes of psychedelic disco from Norwegian spaceman Prins Thomas.

Prins Thomas first poked his head up in dance circles in 2003, joining forces with pal Lindstrøm to bring a new kind of vibe to disco circles, one that was as in love with instrumental rock and noodly seventies jazz as dusty old disco gems. Peer over the decks at their early gigs and it appeared that Prins was the DJ and Lindstrøm was the live act, but recently Prins has struck out on his own, producing for labels such as Kompakt, Mindless Boogie and his own imprint Full Pupp (Check his 'Ferrara' twelve for the dirtiest bass action of 2006).

As a DJ, Prins brings a bit of a live vibe to his sets, as evidenced by his debut mix CD 'Cosmo Galactic Prism' this summer, which took the prize for the most super-eclectic tracklist of the year, finding room for Hawkwind, Joe Meek and even Bob James amid the beats. Likewise for his RA Podcast, Prins spins a set made up of a whole lot of names we haven't quite heard of, and some we have, but the rarity of the cuts is part of the pleasure. As is the length. "It's a 'set' from A-Z, done as compressed and short as I can," explains Prins. "It would be different if I was happy doing strictly minimal sets or something but that's not where I'm from..." Settle in for the ride.

Three questions for Prins about the mix:

What have you been working on recently?
I've been working on upcoming stuff for my two labels, Full Pupp and Internasjonal, I just wrapped up a couple of remixes for DFA, and last but not least I'm working on Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas II album.

Where was the mix recorded?
The mix was recorded at the Social in Toronto where I was for the Red Bull Music Academy.

What are you up to next?
More travelling. I'm almost finished picking tracks for a forthcoming mix CD for Playhouse, more studio work and maybe make some more babies too... ; )

The video clip for Stress was boycotted by several TV-stations for being "racist", so the band dumped the video on YouTube where it was seen by 14,000 people within 24 hours after having been posted on 1 May 2008. The video soon garnered much attention in the French and international press. The music video features a group of young men, a number of whom are black, committing acts of vandalism, battery, and destruction of property while wearing matching jackets with the album cover art on the back.

Justice is a French electronic music duo. They first came to prominence through their 2003 remix of Simian's track Never Be Alone, created for a Paris college radio station's remix contest. Justice's first solo single, Waters of Nazareth, was released in 2005. Their debut album, titled †, was released in 2007.

Justice is known for their blend of rock music and Electro house. Their music uses a heavy amount of synthesizers, often focusing on the bass sounds. They also use vocals for some of their songs, almost using them as instruments of their own. Their music also seems to use a heavy amount of syncopation in the various beats for their songs. Their music has also been known to use keyboards and bass guitars on numerous occasions.

Holy Ghost - Hold On got a release in October last year.. but it still gets the odd blog mention.. I was late picking it up myself but since hearing it on an Eli Escobar mixtape I've had this track in my head non stop. I love the way this track holds the vocals back until you are really into the groove of the synths..
