Okay, this will be a quick and dirty post! I put the Get Happy poses up for sale last night and eve

Okay, this will be a quick and dirty post! I put the Get Happy poses up for sale last night and ever since then a lot of people have been asking for the details on the outfit. So, I figured I'd post about it on my blog :)

Sorry, no SLURLs in today's post, I didn't have time to copy them. I'm putting the names of the content creators instead; you should be able to search for their profiles and then get TPs to their stores via their picks/classifieds.

Suit is the charlie girl freebie outfit from Four Yip, in her shanty/peepshow place with all her other awesome freebies.

Skin, prim lashes, and manicure is from Laqroki, by designer Mallory Cowen.

Sexy pumps are from Juicy shoes. Search for the name Juicy Littlething and a teleport will be in her picks and classified, I think.

Hair and fedora is from ETD by Elikapeka Tiramisu... I believe she sells the hat separately, too.

Stockings are from Blaze, by designer Blaze Columbia. They're in a pack by themselves, but someone told me today that they're also included with Blaze's suits so if you've got a suit from there, chances are you already have this!

Oh and of course the pose is from Mela's... my store :D Okay, so there's that SLURL, what can I say? I had it handy :p

Hi, it's Natasha again! If you are part of the update group for ROSEMAR, then you've already probably received this group gift. It's all twelve skintones with a new makeup. The makeup includes blue eyeshadow, but the best part is the pretty pink blush and pink lips.

My favorites are the Manhattan, Teak, Twine, and Whiskey skintones, since they are closest in color to what me and Niki want. The Almond and Cinderella skins are really pale and could even pass for one of those "goth" skins. Rosemary Galbraith also has a good range of darker skins. I may wear a lighter skintone but I notice these things, lots of skin makers will have a bunch of white skins and then only one black skin. Darker skinned people are not all one color!

To join the update group, search for "Rosemar". You can see other makeups at the store located in Popfuzz: http://slurl.com/secondlife/PopFuzz/60/128/35

Lately I've been lauding SL as a way to indulge in dressing up in fantastical ways that one would not in the real world. Sometimes, though, you come across an item in SL that makes you want to dress your avi in a way that is comfortably familiar and resembles the way you dress yourself in RL.

Tonight I came across a set of sculpted wedge shoes from HAYSURIZA that did just that for me.

Pictured above are HAYSURIZA's Miki Wedge shoes in Autumn. Seeing these shoes instantly reminded me of my favorite pair of wedge heels and made me have a yearning for putting on the kind of laid-back, low-maintenance look that I favor for normal everyday use -- a denim mini, a blouse, and then slap on some lipgloss and you're ready to hit the road :D

The Miki Wedges come in five variations. Pictured next is the Spring version, which is a creamy off-white color and comes adorned with some pretty pastel baubles:

What appealed to me first and foremost about the Miki wedges is that they seem perfect for pairing with casual outfits; they're pretty without being too dressy. I can totally imagine kicking these off and tossing them on the black sand at the beach without a second thought :D Up until now, I'd been wearing the Sunny and Brown Leather versions of my Maitreya Frisky wedges to death. (The brown leather version had been a group gift and I'm not sure if it's available anymore.) These will make for a nice change. ^^

The texturing details on these shoes are very nicely done. I like the stitching details all along the strappy parts of the uppers, as well as the subtle highlighting. I especially like the textures used on the wedge heels for the winter, earth, and autumn versions, because they look so lifelike. Attention was also paid to the texture on the bottom of the shoe (which I did not take a picture of).

Four of the Miki wedges are named for the seasons, and the fifth is named Earth. The Winter wedge is black with a silvery colored stitch, Summer boasts a pinkish-coral color with white stitching, and the Earth version is a light yellowish-brown color with like-colored stitches. All versions feature a silver-textured buckle on the ankle strap and a few silver grommets, except for the Autumn wedge, which is given gold-textured details instead.

You can demo all of these shoes for free at the HAYSURIZA shop. To check them out, visit HAYSURIZA in Osaka: Osaka 138, 48, 21

Other SLURLs and credits follow after the cut.

Skin, prim lashes, manicure, and hair is from RaC. Eyes are from Simtropia. Plumeria flower hair adornments are from Aitui.

1st outfit is the Yelena ensemble from Last Call, featuring the tunic in Olivine.

2nd outfit is the Sidney dress, also from Last Call.

If you want these outfits from Last Call, keep in mind that your time to grab these is very limited! After this month draws to a close, all Last Call items will be deleted from the Ginny Talamasca's inventory.

It's RFL time again! Honestly, if it weren't for Evie's Closet participating, I probably would've held off going for a few days to avoid the inevitable crowds and lag. But... limited edition versions of the Love Story gown, Devotion dress, and another recoloring of the Romany Kiss being offered for free? Dude, that's worth whatever amount of lag I must endure and however many crashes I must experience in order to get my hands on those asap :D

Here is the Love Story gown, exclusively for RFL:

Evie sent out a notice to her update group tonight that a red (my favorite color!) version of the Devotion dress was being sold only at the RFL Fair, never to be seen again once this is over. I was literally in the middle of writing a sentence via IM to Gogo when the notice hit my client, and I totally forgot I was talking about, hehe. I already have the white version of Devotion, which I really love, so when I found out about the red one, I *had* to get it. I made a beeline for the fair, where I was told I was the first person to grab it :p

Here is the Devotion dress in Blaze, for RFL... and btw, it is transferrable! I'm contemplating going back to buy extra copies to maybe give as presents later:

And finally, this freebie is being offered at Evie's Closet at the RFL Fair, the Romany Kiss recolored:

And of course, while you're there, wander around and grab all the other limited edition items! There's TONS of fab stuff. ^_^

Other credits and SLURLs to follow...

I’m naughty — I had these in my inventory for a bit and only got to blogging them today!

I'm naughty -- I had these in my inventory for a bit and only got to blogging them today! It's just that I've been busy/consumed/obsessed with different projects. This post will be picture-intense, so to balance things out I will attempt to refrain from indulging in my usual verbosity. Emphasis on the word "attempt". :p

Okay... today's post is all about a lovely shop named Kouse's Sanctum. I first learned about the white-haired Kouse Singh on flickr, where she posts beautiful images from the fantasy side of SL. Think Avilion, elves, and dragons. ^_^ Well, I guess I've been residing under a sculpted rock or something because it was quite a <strike>pleasant</strike> squee-worthy surprise to discover that Kouse has been crafting beautiful gowns.

First gown up: the magnificent Celestial Empress gown in Azure. You know, my favorite color is actually red, but show me a dress like this and I could easily forget that fact, hehe. An Evanescence song came on the radio just as I put this on, so I might've channeled a very slight bit of Amy Lee when accessorizing. ^^

Here is the Emerald version:

You know what's great about gowns like Kouse's? Pair them up with a romantic hairstyle like this one and you get a perfect showcase for your lovely shoulders, and imho there's blessed little out there that can capture that right balance of fantasy, romance and sexiness without venturing into tramp territory. Gratuitous shoulder shot next :p

Kouse is generous. This next version of the Celestial Empress is called the Midnight Kiss, and it's a group freebie and even comes with a tiara and necklace.

The corset lacing along the back is positively delicious. I'm a big fan of stuff that shows off the curvature of the spine; the more, the better, I say! :D

Another series of gowns to take a look at is the Lady Serenity. This next photo shows the Cirrus version of Lady Serenity (worn with white hair in honor of Kouse ^^):

There is a subtle difference between the two dresses in that shot above -- the skirt on the right is actually somewhat transparent. All of Kouse's gowns come with different flexi-skirt options. Some are slightly transparent, others are built larger so that you can use the outfit as a ballgown.

Lady Serenity comes in other colors, too. Here it is in Red Rose:

Again, the two skirt options:

Last but not least, the Lady LeShelle dress in Forest:

Lady LeShelle comes with two prim belts in silver and gold. I meant to show the Lady LeShelle gown in black, too, but I couldn't find some of the prim pieces in that great ever-expanding maw that I call my inventory. :x

Pay a visit to Kouse's Sanctum to pick these goodies up and to see even more of her selection: Garindan 10, 146, 263

Other credits and SLURLs after the cut. Missing SLURLs will be provided later when I log back in and can grab them; until then, the Search tool is your friend. :)

I admit, I abandon my avi in SL on a regular basis. Sometimes for hours, even. The amount of times that friends have found my avi on my sky platform staring blankly into space, uncommunicative and unresponding, probably numbers into the hundreds, no joke.

My profile makes it clear to people that I'm afk (Away From Keyboard for those of you not familiar with the term) a lot, but I've found that people in general don't really pay attention to that little tidbit of information. They also tend to ignore the part that says I may not respond to IMs in a timely manner if I'm busy working on something. (Even some of my friends are guilty of this, writing persistent "hellooooooooo??!!"s when I'm working at RaC and helping customers.)

I used to use the Set Away feature a lot, but since all that does is put an "Away" over your av's head it's only useful as a visual indicator to people within your immediate vicinity. People IMing you from remote areas have no idea that you're AFK, there's no auto-response message... unless you use Busy Mode.

So yeah, I used to use the Set Busy feature a lot, too, until I discovered that it automatically rejects ALL inventory offers. I don't want to do that, I want to be able to choose to accept the inventory when I come back to my computer.

My friend Vivi pointed to a posting on the jira titled Multiple Levels of Busy Mode, proposed by WarKirby Magojiro:

Busy mode blocks pretty much everything. It's good for some situations, but not others. For example, when you want to spend private time with a single person, or a small group of friends, and be "busy" to the rest of the world.

Or even the opposite, being busy to the immediate company, while dealing with matters elsewhere remotely.

I'm proposing six different levels of busy mode.

1. Absolute Busy mode. Like we have now, blocks everything.

2. Friends only mode - Would block IMs and inventory offers from anyone who is not on your friends list. People on the list would be inaffected.

3. Important calls only mode - When someone IMs you, they would be displayed a message that you are only to be interrupted for important matters, and given a dialog box asking "Is it important?". The message would be customiseable, so we can define what important constitutes. This would be a wonderful thing for busy business owners. Who could set the message to something like "Read the manual first, and visit our support website: <url goes here>"

4. Regional busy mode. Would act like the current busy mode, for everyone who is outside the current sim. Everyone in it would be able to communicate with you as normal. Good for when you're in meetings, or enjopying private company.

5. Local busy mode. Like regional, but even more focused. only people within a user defineable radius (default 50m) would be able to communicate. All others would get your busy mode message. This would be good for private meetings in relatively public areas, like talking in a private room, at a busy party. Or just to avoid overhearing other people's annoying chat, by setting the radius very low.

6. External busy mode. Blocks everyone within the current sim, only. Those outside it would be unaffected. This would be to allow you to avoid having to communicate with people in the area, without seeming rude. Good for lindens who want to seem busy :)

These all sound like excellent suggestions and I would love to see these implemented. I would imagine lots of business owners would especially appreciate these sorts of Busy Mode options, too.

If you'd like more Busy Mode options, please go to the posting on the jira, log in, and vote on it!

Okies, that's all. I have to go afk now. :p

2. Open the book to page 123.
5. Tag five people.

SL Relay For Life (RFL) activities will be starting up again soon, and I for one am looking forward

SL Relay For Life (RFL) activities will be starting up again soon, and I for one am looking forward to getting some limited edition goodies while knowing that my money is going towards an important cause! The SLRFL Clothing Fair will be kicking off in mere weeks, you can read more about it at their blog.

Thinking about SLRFL made me go back through my inventory to take a look at some of my favorite RFL items that I'd picked up last year.

This cute set of bikinis came from Sand Shack Surf Co. and artilleri:

First Impressions had these amazing pink suits that I couldn't pass up. I loved that the shirts came on two layers and there were prim attachments like the necktie, blazer button, and sleeve cuffs:

Also from First Impressions was this set of sheer blouses inspired by the legendary Edith head:

And last but not least, this gown from analise that I *had* to have when I first learned about it:

There were soooooooooo many limited edition lovelies that I recall came out last year for RFL! Get your wallets ready, because I just know there's going to be tons of must-haves this year, too... after all, the pics above are but a mere, miniscule sampling of what came out in 2007. Speaking of which, what were your favorites?

Read past the cut for info on other items used in this post ^^

FINAL ADDENDUM 03/03/2008 @ 2:00 p.m.

Okies, this is getting old already and since the Skin Fair has already kicked RG out I'd really prefer to just drop the subject already.

I feel the need to clear a few things, however, since some misinformed people seem to think that my blog is ruining some innocent person's reputation. This final update to this post will prove otherwise, and then -- finally -- that will be that.

Before I start, there was a comment someone had made that I found pretty disturbing:

This fight isn’t yours, we don’t have the right to judge or not if someone stole or not naughty’s work… Let’s leave this to whom it may concern - the creator of the ripped skins and the people who in fact are selling it stolen.

Wow. Not our fight, huh? Tell me, what would your Second Life look like if it weren't for these talented artists creating content that we make use of every time we're in SL? Sorry, but no, when theft of intellectual property occurs, it's not just the concern of the person who was stolen from, it's something that affects all of us. I would prefer for my favorite content creators to happily remain in SL and continue beautifying my virtual surroundings, instead of taking off in disgust over ongoing theft problems. Not our concern, my ass... I'd like to see this person say that to all the fashionistas who went stir crazy over the prospect of not seeing any new Minnu skins!

Okay, enough of that. On to the screenshots that prove the alina skin base was used in the skins "candy", "interrupted girl", and "moon" by RG. (I'm pretty sure there were yet other skins by RG using the stolen texture as well; I saw some more for sale but there were no demos available for them and I certainly wasn't about to spend 1000L to verify.)

These screenshots include notes pointing out where the skins are identical; you will also be able to view my inventory so that you can see for yourself that I am wearing the skin being displayed (item is in bold and will say "worn" next to it); the properties dialogue box of the inventory item is also clearly on display to leave no question as to who the creator of the skin is.

Here are the SLURLs to the shops where you can still find RG's skin with the ripped texture, up for sale... but for those lacking common sense, may I point out the obvious once more -- RG can go to these locations and delete the skins in question at any time, so just because you go there and don't see it doesn't mean it was never there. For those who need to actually see proof, the screenshots below are for your benefit.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Liberty%20Central%20N/215/92/51
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Sanctuary%20Rock/12/96/34

Clicking on the screenshots will take you to the larger versions so that you may see in more detail.

Proof that these skins were available at several of RG's satellite shops:

Proof that they are, in fact, for sale:

And finally, proof that RG had to have been aware for some time that his skins use a stolen Naughty texture, regardless of how he originally obtained it. Revenge edited his profile roughly a day or so ago to conceal this evidence, but thanks to the way the new Search tool works, the older version of his profile was still cached for several hours and I was able to grab a screencap of the text:

Interesting how RG says that the other store owners have been to his main store and confirmed there were no stolen items there. Duh, that's because the stolen stuff was only to be found at satellite shops that RG did not list in his profile. So there you have it. If you still hold to the belief that RG was innocent in all of this, you're a moron.

ADDENDUM 03/01/2008 @ 8:25 p.m.

Wow, so many reactions to this post; where to start?

All right, first thing I'd like to do is correct the misconception that I've deleted any comments made by others at my blog. Everyone is free to agree, disagree, whatever -- it's all good, and I'm not going to censor any of it. However, I absolutely will not tolerate comment spam or any really obvious trolling, and my method for controlling this is to use comment moderation. How does this affect you? All it means is that if you're commenting on my blog for the first time ever, your comment(s) will not be posted immediately. This enables me to view it first so that I can make sure you are abiding by my rules regarding spamming and trolling. Because I was gone for most of today, there was a small bit of a comment backlog going back almost twelve hours.

Okay, next order of business: I'd like to address Aradia's comments regarding the removal of "Designer RD" and about Carl's character. I'm really glad to hear that the designer in question was removed, because as I've stated in the original post (which you can see below here after the block of blue-formatted text), the texture theft was glaringly obvious. Like, really really really really really obvious.

I never meant to imply that Carl's demeanor throughout my conversation was ever anything less than polite, because he was very polite the whole time. With that said, I'd like to remind everyone that I did not pull the conversation I had with him out of thin air. He really did state quite plainly that he was not going to kick Designer RG out of the fair, and yes he really did make that comment about most skin designers using Renderosity and then posed the "who is REALLY ripping someone off" question right after making that assertion.

It is interesting to note that Aradia wrote, "It is wrong to sit there and accuse him of wrong doing, he is not a mind reader, nor does he keep tabs on every single skin designer on the grid." Yes, quite right -- that would be a monumental task, and my thanks goes out to Aradia for making my point for me! This is the reason why I contacted him in the first place. Of course I don't expect him to be aware of every skin designer out there, and it'd be ludicrous for anyone to assume that he'd be able to identify every case of texture theft that might pass before him... call me crazy but I was actually trying to be helpful when I IM'd this information in the first place.

I'd like to remind everyone once again that my choice to not attend the the Skin Fair was in no way reflective upon the other skin designers involved, and while I understand the ideas expressed by several of the comments left by various skin designers in this post, I will not make any apologies for my original intent to boycott. Folks, this is how boycotts work -- they are not meant to be half-assed, weakly performed protestations; they are strong and vocal and designed with the intent of getting one's point across in a very noticeable manner. This is my voice, and this is how I choose to wield it.

Countering this are some compelling arguments made by Annyka Bekkers of Blowpop who wrote, "... I am extremely uncomfortable with third parties acting on the designer’s behalf, no matter how well-meaning. There’s too much potential for mistaken accusations and ruined reputations, which we’ve seen too many times in the past... "

I agree with what Annyka says, which in my mind should serve all the more to underscore just how obvious the texture theft in this case really is. I would not go on record saying Designer RG is using a texture that actually really belongs to the Naughty designers unless I were 1,000% sure of it... and really, that is how sure I am. I invite you all to go see the proof for yourselves (and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the designer goes and deletes the evidence unless they are deliberately waiting for a DMCA takedown and hoping to profit in the timebeing):

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Piccadilly%20Circus/14/90/25

Pick up the demos for the candy skin, the interrupted girl skin, and the moon skin, and then compare it with an Alina demo from Naughty.

Those SLURLs are also for the benefit of those people who'd gone to the main store and found nothing. Designer RG has only his/her main location listed in Picks and Classified, but there are other satellite locations that you won't see in his/her profile. This place at Piccadilly Circus is one of them.

In closing of this addendum, I'd like to make it clear that in light of Aradia's announcement that the designer in question has since been removed, I'm no longer advocating a boycott of the Skin Fair.

And now, on to the post as it had originally appeared...

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Okay, before I say anything else? I struggled with whether I was going to post this at all because I am pretty sure it's going to invite the kind of attention I'd rather not have. I mean, after I got a taste of how some bloggers reacted to even the faintest notion that their traffic might get diverted away from their sites, I can tell you straight off that I MUCH prefer to sticking to writing about pretty clothes that make me happy.

I feel, however, that this is a subject that just cannot be swept under the rug. So here goes...

If you keep up with the Second Life fashion blogging scene at all, you've probably noticed several mentions lately about the upcoming "International Skin Fair".

I got a press release which I believe was distributed to a number of bloggers. Here's an excerpt from it:

"... More than 65 Second Life skin designers are waiting to present their existing and new products to those visiting the fair.

The huge skin variety guarantees something for everyone. Meet the known designers exhibiting next to talented newcomer and small companies... "

Naturally, my curiosity was piqued and I was anxious to know what to expect at this event. One of my brilliant friends suggested that I look at the Vanity Universe group (the group that was founded to organize the participants in the Skin Fair) to see what skin designer names appeared. Very clever!

Fast forward to the part where I learn that one of the skin designers being featured at the Skin Fair is currently selling a skin with a body that is identical to the Alina skin from Naughty Designs. (For the sake of making this easier to write, I will refer to this designer as Designer RG.) I was somewhat dismayed by this; the subject of skin theft has been a particularly sore one lately as many fashion bloggers will attest.

I decided to contact Carl Crabe, since he is listed as the founder of the group. I explained to Carl that I was a bit concerned about Designer RG being featured at the Skin Fair. I even made sure to make Carl aware that as I was speaking to him, I was alternating between the demo for Designer RG's skin and the Alina skin, and was seeing with my very own eyes that the textures were identical from the nipples down.

Carl's response was not what I was expecting; in fact, when you think about it it's actually quite insulting to SL skin designers in general. For starters, he said he was already aware of the matter, and then he went on about how the majority of skin designers in SL get their basic skins from Renderosity and simply make a few alterations. After making that statement, he posed the rhetorical question of just who, then, is really doing the ripping off?

(Note: To suggest that Lost Thereian of Naughty Designs takes items from Renderosity to make his own skins seems not just a little bit ridiculous, and judging from comments he has made in the jira issue regarding texture theft, I think it's safe to say that he probably uses sources such as 3dsk.)

It was at that point that I told Carl that with Designer RG's skin demo, it was actually quite easy to see just who was getting ripped off. Seriously, everything on Designer RG's demo and the Alina skin matched perfectly and their parts were lining up flawlessly. "The likelihood of two separate people applying all of these textures to the avatar UV mesh identically", I told him, "is highly implausible."

Further conversation with Carl proved to be a bit unsettling. After I'd just pointed out to him that the odds were against two completely different people skinning the UV mesh in such perfect unison, I can only interpret his answer as an attempt to dilute that by saying that Designer RG sells lots of other skins that Naughty doesn't sell. What other skins that Designer RG might offer is besides the point!

Carl did say that he had tried to reach the Naughty designers to get their take on the matter, but they had failed to respond. (I do not know what methods Carl used to try to contact them, nor am I aware of the frequency/urgency with which he conducted these attempts.) Nevertheless, Carl stated unequivocally that he will not kick Designer RG from the Skin Fair. When I asked him, "Why not?", his vague response was that if someone from Naughty could meet up with him, they could "talk" about it.

I then informed Carl that I planned on blogging about this. Especially in light of the rash of recent skin thefts that have been happening lately, with Minnu Palen even going so far as to announce that there will be no more new releases until Linden Lab acts more decisively on this, this raises serious questions about the integrity of the Skin Fair and it's organizers.

Carl went silent after that. I continued on, telling him that I would send him snapshots of the demo skin and the Alina skin side by side so he could see just how perfectly identical they really are. In my last message to him, I said I was about to send him a couple of images... and I got the "User not online" message in return. I sent him the textures anyways so that he can take a look at them later.

Just to cover all bases, I consulted with someone who is familiar with 3D design and modeling, and they agreed to let me quote them but only under the condition of anonymity. What they had to say confirmed what I'd told Carl. "The odds of two 3d artists applying the same photosource to a UV map in the same way are virtually nil," they said. "Mapping something as complex as a human skin onto the UV maps and having it look identical? Not gonna happen. Anyone with common sense should see right away if they look at the UV maps and consider what's involved in the process."

Anyhow, going back to Designer RG's skin. It's pretty obvious that one of two things happened for this to come about: either Designer RG ripped the Alina skin to use as a base, or Designer RG bought ripped full perm .tga files from a Business In A Box reseller. If it is the latter which applies, the fact that Designer RG persists in selling the skin while being aware of the questionable origins of the textures points to either poor judgement or a lack of ethics. (Yes, this designer is very much aware, as is evidenced by the commentary on their profile.)

So there you have it, my reason for boycotting the Skin Fair. My decision to not attend is in no way indicative of my opinion of the legitimate skin designers who are to be featured. It's just that I find it apalling that the Skin Fair organizers would not only deliberately turn a blind eye to damning evidence, but would actually continue to promote someone who is using a ripped skin texture in their product.

NSFW shots of the skins are located after the cut.

Clicking on the images will take you to their respective flickr pages where you should be able to view larger versions.

In this first image, Designer RG's skin demo is on the left and the Naughty Alina skin is on the right. Note how the navel, abdominal shading, pubic hair, and labia line up perfectly. The likeness is so striking that it looks as if the photographer had simply played with some simple hue adjustment settings in Photoshop to achieve this effect.

In this second image, the Naughty Alina skin is on the left and Designer RG's skin demo is on the right. See how the mole over the right thigh appears in the exact same spot where the mole appears in the image above?

Ever since I got the Valentine's Day dollarbie tanks and undies set from Nyte 'n' Day I have been meaning to go back and treat myself to new clothes. Everything there looks really good and I like the prices there because I am very strict about limiting my spending in SL.

I found this in the "New" section of the store and it came in several colors but of course I chose blue!

Wow, lots of great hairstyle goodies came out over the past few days, plus I came across a really cute hair store called Candy House. Here's a bunch of my favorites...

I love the hair at ETD because the styles there almost always fit my avi right away. If I ever need to edit ETD hair, it's usually just some minor change like moving a prim ever so slightly so that it doesn't cover up an ear. Upon visiting the newly remodeled store, I was immediately drawn to the romantic-looking Marisela hairstyle which you see pictured here.

Using my Armidi giftcard, I was also finally able to treat myself to the Roxy style that I've been wanting for a while now. ^^

Another hairstyle that I adored is the Berri2 by Truth. I didn't buy it for my main avi because it didn't quite look right on my shape, but my altie sure looks adorable in it. :D There were actually a bunch of new styles that just came out at Truth and the demos are free, so it's definitely worth your while to take a look there.

While running around some random Japanese sims, I came across the adorably named Candy House, which is owned by the equally adorably named Marina Puff. Candy House has more of a cozy boutique feel to it, with roughly a dozen hairstyles. What's great about Candy House is that you get all the available colors in just one package for just 120L, and as if that weren't plenty of value for your money, some of the packages contain the hairstyle with different types of bangs... again in each color. Awesome stuff, really!

All right, instead of writing a whole lot more about the hairstyles I grabbed at Candy House, I shall simply let the pictures do the talking. :D

FYI -- this Mocomoco style has texture change hair accessories on it. You simply click on each part to cycle through the textures. This hair is modifiable and so I plan on eventually loading some of my own patterned textures in it.

And oh my goodness... I am in love with this hair from BettiePage Voyager's shop in Osaka. After seeing it on Natasha, I HAD to have this hair, even if it meant camping at the BP* lucky chair for it. (It's not for sale and is offered only as a freebie from the chair.)

************

Okay, and now for a completely abrupt change in subject, (because quite frankly I am too tired at the moment to come up with some clever segue)... I have two cute chairs up for sale at my shop in Juicy (the sim formerly known as La Reina).

If you'd like to give them as presents, you can do so by sending from either my OnRez storefront or my SLExchange listings.

I went on a shopping binge last night at Armidi.

I went on a shopping binge last night at Armidi.

Okay, it wasn't exactly "at" Armidi; I visited the sim to activate my giftcard but it was all Firefox browsing from there. :D

The Armidi blog recently announced that people could use their giftcards on MyGiftCard.ShopArmidi.com, a development I was very happy to hear about because I've been dying to use my giftcard for a while now. Okay, maybe not dying... but it felt urgent! :p The giftcard site is actually a foreshadowing of the official Armidi.com shopping site that they're saying will come out in Spring 2008.

My initial experience with activating the gift card was a bit bumpy -- visiting the website resulted in my receiving a message saying that my password had been lost (didn't know I had one in the first place) and that I needed to visit the gift card kiosk in the Armidi sim to get assigned a new one. Okay, no problem. When I arrived there, however, the kiosk's response was something along the line of, "You already have a password, please visit the website to retrieve it." Like a person repeatedly hitting the crossing button at the sidewalk corner, I began to click the kiosk a bunch of times in annoyance and w00t! I eventually got my password.

ShopArmidi.com looks to be everything a shopping website ought to be -- aesthetically pleasing, an intuitive layout, and it loads fast. You navigate from the landing page to the different departments (Beauty, Gisaci, Intimizzio, etc.), and each department has a series of pages that you can click through using the numbers listed at the bottom, as well as the Previous and Next page links.

Fatpack lovers will be happy to learn that they can now buy that dress or pair of jeans they're so keen on in every color, and at a discount -- a feature that is currently not available in the Armidi sim. These are not small discounts, either. Take a look at their cute Moccas boots, for example: the boots are 295L each and come in fifteen colors, so if you were to buy each one separately that'd run you 4425L. The "All Colours" option will let you grab all of them in one fell swoop for 2950L, which is a savings of 1475L. That's like getting five of the boots for free. If you're crazy enough about the shoes and don't mind putting your inventory through that kind of abuse, then you should be happy with that feature. ^^

Another thing I loved about using the website was the delivery service. From the moment you hit Confirm, the speed with which your item is delivered in-world is impressive. The site's FAQ says to expect delivery within ten seconds, although it may take as much as thirty to sixty seconds if there's lag, etc. Honestly, I probably got all my stuff in five seconds or less; when I'd switch from Firefox to my SL client, the little blue delivery message in the upper right corner would already be waiting for me. Okay, this next point will probably seem like fluff to most people but I do love little touches like this... my items were delivered to me in a black sculpty shopping bag that gave me my purchases in a folder as soon as I rezzed them, and when I attached the shopping bags to my avatar's hand, I saw a subtle hand-swinging animation. How cute is that?! :D

There are a couple of things I didn't see on the site, however, that I do hope will surface in the official shopping website when it debuts later this year. For starters, navigating between the departments involves the extra step of heading back to the landing page. While this is not a major issue, it is mildly annoying and I would have preferred to see some kind of feature that let me skip straight from, say, Intimizzio to Elephant Outfitters instead of constantly going back to the main page. Another thing I wouldn't mind seeing tweaked is the font color of the text for the page numbers and the names of the items. The font itself is already kind of on the small-ish side; the lightness of the font color makes it that much less legible. One more thing I want to see -- and I'm sure they will offer this come later this year, I'd be shocked if it weren't -- is the ability to purchase things from them and have it delivered to another avatar as a gift.

Oh, there was one more thing that occurred, and the lightning-speed with which Armidi's staff resolved it has cemented my position as a fan of theirs. I'd used up almost all of my giftcard's funds and had 265L left -- not quite enough to purchase the 295L Roxy hair that I wanted. There's no way to refill your card or to pay the difference out of your own linden balance, you're simply given an insufficient funds message. I sent an e-mail to Armidi's support address, and I don't quite remember how long it took but it felt like maybe only five minutes had passed before I was getting IM'd by London Armidi? Anyhow, that kind of speed impresses me a lot, especially when it's coming from a merchant as big (and therefore quite busy) as these guys.

One more thing to note -- according to the giftcard site, Armidi group members will get a chance to view the site shortly before the rest of the public will be able to use it come this Spring.

Yay, I'm blogging on Grid Expectations now, people will actually read what I write! Comparing traffic stats between our Poseur blog and here was humbling.

Gogo teleported me to BP* because the lucky chair had a letter N. (Sucks for Niki that she wasn't on!) She had been watching the chair there because of some fabulous hair that Triangle Caudron had posted. I can see why my circle of friends went a little chair camping mad for this hair! It can't be bought, you can only get it from the chair.

I am calling this look my Disco Bitch look, thanks to Vivi for the excellent name suggestion.

The pose is from mine and Nikita's shop!

Sorry for not including the location where I got the clothes. I had several messages all asking where I got this! I got it from a lucky chair at an authorized reseller's store. Only the green version is in the chair but I think there were other colors for sale too. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Leodegrance/165/49/65

Et, tie linksmuoliai žurnalistai… Vakar būdama Edwardo Lucaso, The Economist, žurnalisto kn

Oooo, ten tikras lobynas.

Prisimenate filmą "Welcome to Sarajevo"?

Wewt, so I finally finished getting my most recent stuff up on SLEX and OnRez :D

I've been meaning to get my things on there but never quite got around to it. Over the past couple of days, however, I've had several requests from people wanting to send the skin fatpack as a gift to friends... so I figured I should make gift-giving easier for people when they're not able to find me online. Or if I'm AFK (which is like, 75% of the time ^^).

Here are the linkies:

mela's @ SLExchange.com (you will need to enable mature content but I promise my pics are all PG!)
mela's @ OnRez

On a side note, the girls from Poseur have been waiting patiently for their blog to be added to the Fashion Planet feed (they've been on the iheartsl feed for weeks now, though... sorry, couldn't resist :p ) but since that's not happened yet, they've been invited to use Grid Expectations to announce their stuffs or whatever. ^^ You can view their blog at http://lesposeurs.wordpress.com/ and check out a couple of their pose vendors at my shop in La Reina.

I think I’m starting to notice a pattern in my shopping habits:

I think I'm starting to notice a pattern in my shopping habits:

I like cute dresses.
I tend to favor the shops that have the kinds of prices that make it super easy for me to justify buying lots of stuff in one helping (i.e., <3 Cupcakes, Fireflies, D!FF, Magnolia, just to name a few).
The more versatile the item is, the better.

D!FF's new Isometric Dress, which comes in three color combinations, happily fulfills all these criteria. ^^

Clicking on the above image should take you to the flickr page where you can view a larger version.

The flexi-prim skirts have been given a flattering shape and the hem length is instant cuteness. The tops are provided on both the shirt and jacket layer, making it easy for you to mix things up with other items in your inventory and thus attain your own individual look.

The design of the dress is simple enough so that it lends itself to a variety of different looks, while the vibrant colors and the pattern keep things visually interesting and fun. Just add the right hairstyles, shoes, and other accessories, and you can go from a look that's appropriate for a day at the park or the zoo, to a smart looking get-up for visiting the art museum. (Yay for coming up with scenarios for your clothes while playing dress-up ^_^ )

Given the look of this dress, I decided to put my hardcore RaC faithfulness aside for a few moments and donned some of my favorite hand-drawn skins, instead.

This faun (or satyr if you’re an ancient Greek :p )

I am still in fantasy dress-up mode. ^^

This faun (or satyr if you're an ancient Greek :p ) outfit is from a collection called Titania's Court by Riann Maltese, which you can find right at the entrance to Fairy's Grove Creations.

I've been wanting one of these faun outfits ever since I first spotted the vendor for it back in October, but as always I was gripped by indecision as I contemplated the six colors that are available. I ultimately chose the white one because I think it makes for a nice contrast with my darker human skintone. :) The faun avs come in six colors, ranging from black to white, with autumnal-looking reds, browns, and yellows in between.

This truly is a beautifully made ensemble. For starters, the texturing work on every single piece in this set is fantastic, from the horns to the hooves.

I was also really pleased with how the legs look. The primary leg prim is a sculpty while the tufts of fur that appear around the hooves and at the leg joints are mostly torii. The texture covering the lower torso and thighs is on the underpants layer and comes in two versions, one of which does not cover the crotch (for all you kinky fauns out there, I guess).

For your head, you get a pair of sculpted horns and sculpted ears, and a prim tail for your tush. The ears and the tail are scripted to twitch and move, much like how you'd see a neko ear attachment move.

02/25/2008 Important addendum!!: There are two versions of each color at the vendor, one for males and one for females. Whenever you click on a color button, a preview of the av will show in the display, so that's one way you can tell whether you are viewing the male or female version. You can toggle between the genders by using the male/female symbols on the left side of the vendor.

More on what I'm wearing following the jump...

Faun Avatar - Titania's Court at Fairy's Grove Creations; Hair - RaC Hair, Loveaffair (this was originally intended only as a Valentine's freebie but since so many people have asked for it after the promotion was done, it's now back on the shelf at the normal price for RaC hair); Skin - RaC, Trisha; Eyes - Nomine, Orbital 4

In the second image, the hair worn in the upper left corner is Coreen in white by ETD. I normally prefer to wear the longer RaC hair with this outfit since the flexi-prims (sort of) cover the boobs, but I wanted to show the ears in more detail. ^_^

I did my first poetry reading in SL yesterday.

I did my first poetry reading in SL yesterday.

I snapped that pic right before going up on the stage and reciting a sonnet over voice chat. This was pretty ridiculous of me, but I was like super silly nervous about it because the sonnet is something I've written. ^^ I'm usually extremely private when it comes to my writing but I was feeling kind of... well, anti-social for not sharing when everyone else was doing so. After a bit of waffling over whether I should do it or not, I finally took the plunge :D

The SL Poetry Group is one of my favorite groups that I belong to right now, even though I've been a part of it for maybe only a month. There are quite a few people who participate and they meet at regularly scheduled times all over the place. In regards to the use of voice, everyone is accommodated. I personally prefer using voice at these gatherings because I like hearing the readers (there's this one woman named Morgue with a voice that was meant for reciting, it's like butter and her accent is so pretty), but if you aren't able to hook up sound or use a mic, that's not a problem -- the poems are also fed into these things called "line readers" which will recite the verse in public text chat in a different color (so as to differentiate the poetry from actual resident chatter). You can also have another voice user recite the poem for you if you've no desire to recite it yourself.

There were some bongos on the stage where I recited, lol. They really worked if you clicked them, too -- it made me think of Mike Meyers and his beat poet in So I Married An Axe Murderer so for fun I put together my own pretentious poet outfit :p :

Okay, so I've been sitting on some of these images -- the ones from Crochet, to be specific -- since December. Yes, I've been meaning to post these for two months now. :p

Given the highly transient nature of a lot of SL businesses, I had to go back and make sure the store still existed, heh. The shops Crochet and Magnolia are apparently both owned by Magnolia Mayo (she has a third shop called Desiree Lingerie which is not featured in this posting).

I love cute dresses so I shall write about Magnolia first. ^_^ Her dresses are very affordable and the only items that I saw over 200L were wedding gown sets that included things like shoes, etc. If you're a fan of dresses from places like Mimi Coral's <3 Cupcakes or Miko Omegamu's *ICING*, then you might like some of what Magnolia has to offer.

First dress is my favorite, the Catavento dress in black and red:

This dress is also available in white with black details. I almost bought the white and black version because of Magnolia's low prices; the only thing that stopped me was the fact that my inventory's a mess right now (yay for insane quantities of Valentine's freebies) and I'm afraid I'd buy the dress and then completely forget it even exists before I ever have the chance to wear it.

Next up is the Babado Mini Dress:

The flirty, short hemline of this dress is what caught my eye. The ribbon attachment has a sash that extends past the hemline, making the shortness (and thus cuteness ^_^) of the dress even more pronounced. I initially had a bit of a problem adjusting the ribbon belt because of the perms (it was No Mod/Copy/Trans) but a fast IM to Magnolia Mayo solved that. She sent me a replacement bow soon after and I was able to edit it to fit my avi properly. I haven't gone back t check if she's updated her vendor with the modifiable bow but given how quickly she responded to my own IM, I wouldn't worry about it.

One more dress I picked up is the purple Good Times dress, which came in a handful of other colors:

As I mentioned at the outset of this post, Magnolia also owns a shop called Crochet... and yes, it features items that sport crocheted textures. :p Lots of beachy, summery stuff in this shop.

My favorite item from Crochet is this candy bikini:

The candy bikini is sexy as hell. When you wear the full set, it shows just as much skin as your average bikini, but holy cow it's the *way* in which it exposes skin that makes it hot. The bikini top gives away an ample view of your avi's "undercleavage" (not sure what else to call it) and those bikini thong strings riding up along your hips past the waistband of the skirt/shorts are all about emphasizing those feminine curves.

You can get more daring, in degrees, by removing the prim skirt and the pants layer shorts, leaving only an incredibly skimpy thong on, but be warned: if you don't like the idea of your pubes showing from under a bikini (eww nasty), then make sure you've got a skin in your inventory that has a sparse amount of pubic hair, if any at all.

Last but not least is the Nanda dress in red:

I liked the little yellow crocheted star details that line the hem of the flexi-prim skirt and the low waist of the pants layer. And just like at Magnolia, Crochet's prices are low enough so that you can pick up a slew of sexy beach stuff without breaking the bank.
