Pasaulinė diktatūra - 3. Ką daryt?

Tęsinys. Pradžia čia ir čia.

Jei teisingai viską supratau, iki momento, kada jau nieko nebebus galima pakeisti, dar liko - 20-30 metų. Tačiau nemaža plano dalis veikia jau dabar, arba pradės veikti jau labai greitai. Ką galima padaryti?

Pirmiausia žmonės turi galvoti savo galva, ne televizoriumi. Ir suprasti, kad jiems meluojama, meluojama visais įmanomais būdais. Kodėl bandome rinkti “gerus“ atstovus į valdžią, o turime ką turime? Kodėl gydytojai gauna atlygį už sergančius žmones ir ligonių tauta jiems labai tiktų? Kodėl valstybė, turinti policiją, karines pajėgas negali išgaudyti ir pasodinti kelių šimtų skustagalvių, kurie vadinami “nusikalstamumu“? Kodėl mums plaunamos smegenys televizijos pagalba? Kodėl rodo smurtą ir žudyti pradeda vaikai, kurie kitu atveju net nežinotų, kur randasi širdis? Alkoholis, tabakas, narkotikai mus žudo, valgom š... - nieko negalima padaryti? Kas pavertė mus nepakančiais kitoms tautoms, nors jų mes net nematėm? Kodėl didžiulė valstybė, iš kosmoso matanti vinis žolėje, NERANDA/neieško teroristo Nr.1? Kodėl didžiulė valstybė “nenugali“ net akmens amžiaus tautelės? Ir dar šimtai kitų kodėl, kur logikos trūkumas bado akis...

Žmonių kurstymo, bauginimo ir pavergimo planai yra galimi tik tada, kai apie juos žmonės nežino. Tik nežinia gali mus paversti vykdytojais. Pvz. jei žinotum, kad paskolą tau duoda 40-čiai metų tik tam, kad iš jos neišsikapstytum tu ir tavo vaikai? Galvoji, kad išsimokėsi, o kažkas jau žino, kad po 10-ties metų ir kelių pasaulinių aferų tai nebebus įmanoma net teoriškai? Ar imtum paskolą? Arba - ar pritartum visom kovos prieš terorizmą nesamonėms žinodamas, kad terorizmo tai nėra? Ar sutiktum tuo tikslu visur ir visada nešiotis pasą? Kai aerouoste atsiprašant genitalijas minko ir sako, kad teroristo ieško - ar galvotum, kad to tikrai reikia, nes TERORIZMAS....

Taigi ką daryti?

- skleisti informaciją visais įmanomais būdais. Turit tinklaraštį? Rašykit apie tai. Įdėkit nuorodą į tą patį “Zeitgeist“. Gal ir ne visi faktai jame yra korektiškai interpretuoti, tačiau esmės tai nekeičia. Įrašykit tą filmą į CD, duokit draugams ir bet kam, kas smegenis laisvas dar turi.

- mažiau žiūrėti televizorių, filtruoti informaciją. Nežiūrint viso smurto, politinių pasakų ir muilo operų, lieka daugiau vietos tikrai svarbiai informacijai.

- suprasti, kad bet koks tarptautinis konfliktas - tai tik konfliktas tarp valdančiųjų klikų, su žmonėmis tai neturi nieko bendro. Ir su tikraisiais valstybių interesais - taip pat. Jau seniai aišku, kad tautoms prekiauti verta labiau, nei kariauti. Tautoms, bet ne tiems, kas iš to pinigus gauna.

- suprasti, kad internetas yra bene vienintelė likusi laisva informacijos priemonė. Jokiu būdu neleisti jo filtruoti ar kaip kitaip riboti priėjimą. Jau yra norų “kovai su terorizmu“ pasitelkti interneto skanavimą ir kontrolę.... Šioje vietoje labai svarbus atviras kodas. Jei Microsoft, Google ar dar kam nors pavyktų išstumt iš rinkos atviro kodo serverių, pašto ir kitas programas - galas laisvam keitimuisi informacija... Internetas taptų dar viena kvailinimo priemone.

Priešintis visiems dalykams, kurie dengiami “technologijos pasiekimais“, bet gali būti naudojami žmonių laisvei apriboti. Dabar tai yra:

- asmens dokumentai su RFID žymekliais (tagais). Apie tai jau kalbama, JAV to jau reikalauja. Neimkim tokio, net jei tai būtų (o ir bus!) vairuotojo pažymėjimas.

- matyt greitai atsiras (jau yra!) implantuojami mikročipai - labai naudingi, juose bus net asmens medicininiai duomenys! Jų negalima turėti. Pakabukas su kraujo grupe ir alergija vaistams - tai bene viskas, ko tikrai gali prireikti greitosios pagalbos mašinoje.

- negali būti net minties kad būtų panaikinti grynieji pinigai. Todėl atsiskaitinėti reikia grynaisiais, ne kortelėmis. Atsiskaitymas kortelėmis tik padeda sekti jūsų asmeninius įpročius, buvimo vietą ir t.t. Sekti galima ir kitais būdais, pvz mobilus telefonas puikus informatorius, bet... Kortelę užblokuoti galima, grynųjų - ne. Kai visi naudosis kortelėmis, visiems atrodys, kad grynų kaip ir nebereikia...

- bankams sunkiau manipuliuot mūsų pinigais, jei jų ten nėra. Beje, ar yra koks nors lietuvių bankas? be Lietuvos Banko? Nelaikyti pinigų banke sekasi vis sunkiau - mokėjimai už komunalinius ir t.t. yra patogu. Bet pirkti maistą ir pan - geriau grynais.

- priešintis Euro įvedimui. Gal kas žino Europos šalį, kuriai kas nors pagerėjo nuo jo????

- nebalsuoti internetu ar kitomis elektroninėmis priemonėmis. Kažkur rašiau, kodėl balsuoti visai nėra prasmės, nes nėra tos galimybės, kad mano išrinktieji vykdys žmonių valią, tačiau... jei balsuojat, tik ne internetu/mobiliu ar pan,., jei tokia galimybė bus

- asmeninės informacijos nelaikyti kažkur tinkle. Kai tokie Google docs taps net labai patogiais ir “saugiais“ - nelaikyti ten jokių savo dokumentų. Jau geriau jie dingsta, nei kada nors juos jums tiesiog padarys “neprieinamais“.

Paskaitau pats ką parašiau ir suprantu, kad tai primena pamišėlio užrašus. Kažkuriuo metu, kai mozaika pradėjo dėliotis į bendrą vaizdą aš supratau, kad labiausiai norėčiau tai pamiršti. Apie tai nešneka žinių laidose, apie tai nebūna skrajučių pašto dėžutėje... Pamiršk, pamiršk, to nėra ir nebuvo... Čiūčia liūlia mik vaikeli....

Man pradeda aiškėti, kas atsitiko su Kenedžiais, užtenka paklausyti JFK kalbų... “Zeitgeist“ aiškiai pasako, kas atsitinka tiems, kas žino per daug ir įvardija tai, ką žino. Suprantu ir matau, kad “dalykai vyksta“ ir Lietuvoje, o rodo ir rašo tik tai, ką reikia... Ir taip ir bus, viską reikia suprasti ir sukramtyti pačiam, nes malta mėsa - tai jau nebe mėsa, tik jos kvapas su priedais...

Norėčiau, kad visa tai būtų netiesa... Tačiau labai jau daug faktų, kurie rodo, kad viskas yra būtent taip, kaip ir rašau. Ir kuo toliau - tuo daugiau. Ir nėra nieko, kas sakytų, kad yra kitaip, arba kad to negali būti... Jei tai ne tiesa, tai kas tada yra tiesa? Kad esam laisvi, nepriklausomi, išsilavinę, sveiki, kažkam įdomūs? Tik va piktos jėgos (musulmonai?) kažkokius terorizmus, ekonomines krizes daro, su kuo efektyviai kovoja visa demokratinė (?) visuomenė? Ir viskas vystosi, viskas tik į gerą (bus naujų žaislų, didesni televizoriai)? Čiūčia liūlia visa tai...

DS And Company

Yesterday, I made up my mind to buy the Absolute Sandman volumes, and to do that, I'll need cash. At the same time, it occurred to me that I don't play my DS very much anymore. So, I decided that I should rid myself of it.

My DS is dark blue and in relatively good condition. I didn't play it too frequently. I still have the spare stylus and the charger from the original package. It comes with a soft pouch (this one). And the screen protectors are still on, and appear to be in good shape.

Along with it are eight games. These are:

Advance Wars: Days Of Ruin
Castlevania: Dawn Of Sorrow
Castlevania: Portrait Of Ruin (along with the special edition pack thing)
New Super Mario Bros.
Nintendogs: Dachshund & Friends (yes, I played this)
Pokémon Pearl

I suppose they could all go together, or if you're interested in a part or something, we could discuss it.

Videos

Hmm, apart from this, I have a few DVDs to offload. These are mostly music and anime. I have a couple of U2 concert videos I want to let, and Paul McCartney too. I have this Lennon Legend DVD that I'm not really interested in too. Even Jay Chou, which sounds amazing, but I'm serious.

Anime ranges from Jin-Roh to Karas and Vampire Hunter D. And apart from these, I also have the first three seasons of 24.

I might have some others but those are not coming to mind now. This ought to give you a good enough idea.

Five-Buck Books

I'm renovating next month, and there are lots of things I would like to get rid of. One of those things is part of my book collection. I will readily admit that most of these books aren't exactly great literature, but if you're interested in stuff like Tom Clancy (oh yes, the memories), Agatha Christie (whom I still love, but see no point in keeping), and, say, David Eddings, I might have something you want.

The more interesting books are stuff that I bought but want now to get a better version of. I have, for example, Penguin copies of T.S. Eliot's The Waste Land and Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, which all sound like good investments on the cheap. These are probably not all, and I'm sure people want these. On the cheap, as I said.

And there's probably a bunch of other things you might find in my strange collection. Chinese books, English books, children's books, comic books, and all sorts of other things.

I suspect that most will be going for five or under. So it's a bargain bin of sorts. Do contact me if interested.

A Couple Of PC Games And A Few PS2 Games

I'm selling my rather new PC version if Jade Empire, if anyone wants it. I also have a couple of PC games that I might be wanting to part with.

I have some PS2 games that were just not for me, including stuff like Final Fantasy X and stuff.

What Else?

As I said, I have quite a bit of trash, and I'm renovating. I have some retro game posters, which can go for really, really low prices. One of them is a nice Command & Conquer: Renegade poster. I know the game was trash, but the poster brings back good memories.

Also, I have a couple of Blizzard figures, an MGS2 action figure set, a rather big Spawn figure and stuff that I'm a little reluctant to let go of, but will if it comes in at a nice price.

I have lots of old Spider-Man comics, a couple of issues of which are probably actually worth something. But I'm not so willing to part with it, though you can ask.

I have lots of plushies to boot off. I have that Hello Kitty set that was all the rage those years back. You know, the one from McDonald's. I imagine Hello Kitty Girl already has them, so I didn't ask. I mean, if plushies are your sort of thing.

Let's see, I probably have a couple of records and stuff that I can sell too.

So as you can see, I have quite a bit of stuff. Even if I didn't say it, ask and I might have something for you. And then we can talk business.

Conclusion

Man, I should really have a jumble sale. But if you're a friend or a friend of a friend, just drop me a note.

Addendum: I just wanted to say that I remember I still have to buy my collector's box of Help! and also the upcoming Absolute edition of The Black Dossier, which will both set me back some. While I don't expect this to fund the entire foray, I'm sure I can work something out eventually.

On the other hand, I realise I was quite vague with some sections. It's just that I've not had the time to go down to the individual rooms and decide what things I want and what things I don't, a process that I imagine will take quite a bit of time. Sorry for the vagueness. Hope that doesn't discourage anyone.

film: Reed: The Third Man (1949)

Walking out the door each day and ten steps later reaching the doorway through which Graham Greene passed daily for years filled me with some sort of awe. I also had to walk out of the theatre during End of the Affair because it made me so miserable, I left and cried. As much as that one affected me, The Third Man did quite the opposite in my reading it. I recall long nights trying to pay attention, failing, and finally deciding to not read The Fallen Idol, which the book also contained. Thus it was with but little pleasure that I anticipated viewing the film for which he wrote the novella. Recently I've been finding that films with interesting opening credits tend to be fascinating films. And so this was--the credits are set over the strings of a zither being played--and the credits said that zither music is provided by Anton Karas...which gave me the impression that the full soundtrack's music would be zither. Impossible. And that is precisely what sold me, repeatedly, on this film. When an orchestra is supposed to hit, when we should be most frightened, anxious, bothered...the music explodes, joyous, colorful. The film begins with a very Soviet montage, and that sort of quick humor that reminds me of Hitchcock, that in its lightness portends fearful gravity, very Tao Teh Ching when removed from pure theory (what!?). That said, as much as I enjoyed much of the film, and as much as I had to battle fierce nausea while pondering Alida Valli's fake mole (reaffirming what Hawthorne illustrated, though I was nauseated anyway...yes, I had to turn off the film until I was feeling well again, I had to watch Dick Van Dyke or something), and as much fun as it was to wonder if Orson Welles was actually acting or just being himself...by the last half hour I was checking my watch every few minutes. That means approximately ten times. That's to say, I was bored.

But, when one watches the Criterion Collection, one does not do so to be entertained, for entertainment is a vulgar pastime, and we discerning types lend our eyes to the screen for the purpose of understanding our own lives better, at the very least, through measuring the length of shots (and of shadows in film noir), and trying to decide what the film is really saying, beneath all that mean profit-making nonsense. I recall enjoying Brighton Rock a lot more, even if the protagonist was a stinky old whore.

Turbūt viso žino, ką reiškia balto balandžio simbolis. Tai va šiandien beeidamas namo pamačiau tokį labai keistą pilką balandį. Stovėjo jis visai šalia manęs visiškai nieko nebijodamas (juk žinote kokie tie miestietiški balandžiai) ir snape laikė sudžiūvusią medžio šakelę.

Ką tai galėtų reikšti? Pirma į galvą atėjusi mintis (o ji dažniausiai būna teisingiausia) - oij bus karo.

in the past few months i've churned through a few series... which is an improvement from late last year. but the late nights, and lack of sleep, is getting to me... so for now, i'll just pop up a little review on some of the stuff that i've watched... excluding the *good* series... those i'll spend a bit more time to gloat over sometime in the future...

doujin work:
najimi osana wanted to make some money. after seeing how successful her friend, tsuyumi, is with creating doujinshi, najimi tries her hand into the world of doujin. najimi starts out with only money in her mind but as she puts more effort into the creation of her work which is the main focus of the series; the stereotypical (perverted) perception people have on doujin. this series does feel like a segment from "genshiken" - mainly the ougie-yaoi fantasy stories. each episode focuses on an aspect of doujinshi; from creating ideas, to artistic techniques and promotional tactics. we follow najimi's development into becoming a doujin artist with many otaku jokes along the way. its a nice, short series (12 x 12mins episodes).

karas:
i forgot to review this last time and its been 3 months since i watch it... so the finer details of the plot is a little hazy. its a battle of good vs evil. a karas maintain balance between the human and the spirit world but one rogue karas decides to take over shinjuku, sending youkai to drain fluids from humans. but there's a new karas emerges to stop him. the highlight of this series is the animation. with a blend of 2d & 3d animation, shinjuku is created in spectacular detail with a gothic allure similar to gotham city of "batman" comics. character designs are awesome, especially with the karas - the opening battle scene will blow you away. a 6 episode ova, the first half is a little confusing, you'll find yourself with many questions floating around due to random jumps between various scenes. the second half does wraps things up and then it draws to a typical superhero battle-finale.

there's so many wrong things you can think of while watching this series... but i won't go there. high school delinquent, seji sawamura, wants a girlfriend but has always been rejected. but one day he wakes up to find his right hand has become a girl, midori kasugano, who has a crush on him (when she was still in normal human form). here we have a bunch of weird stories of what would happen if your right hand becomes a girl. but the main focus of the series is its development of the character's relationship. even with the weird scenario, this could be considered more of a drama/relationship story, with plenty of funny scenes, and some nice touching moments... but like i said before, there's so many wrong things that come to mind while watching this.

appleseed: ex-machina:
its another storyline to the appleseed franchise. the 2d/3d animation is an improvement from the previous appleseed (2004) movie. but the story is very hollywood. heavily advertised with john woo as its producer, unfortunately this isn't as gripping as "face/off". even the final battle seems a bit of a rip-off from the matrix trilogy.

superman: doomsday:
i know this isn't an anime, but its "animated"... well, i thought i'll just add this here anyways. its a different adaptation of the doomsday/world without/return of superman storylines - but with less detail... less blood... less killings... less major characters... okay... its a nicer version of the story which kids can watch... though i'm surprised they included a superman/lois lane-secret lovers rendezvous chapter into the story... sorry, just had some more wrong thoughts.

family guy - blue harvest:
i've only recently started watching some episodes of "family guy" and i'm finding it more entertaining than "the simpsons". and being a star wars fan... i guess this was inevitable... anyways, i've just gone all blank here as to how to review this one... then it just hit me... every wrong thought you can come up with while watching "star wars"... its all here... "family guy" style.

Pratęsdamas kolegos pamąstymus apie Valdonių šėliojimus, norėčiau pablevyzgoti apie ēdamais (lv). Nereikia pamiršti, jog ko gero viskas prasidėjo dar nuo gūdžiais 60 - aisiais nupieštos piramidės ir fiziologinių poreikių.Pagrindinis priespaudos ir poveikio įrankis tampa maistas! Jau nuo spuoguotos vaikystės vyrai yra nubrukami prie stalo ir atitraukiami nuo puodų. Laikui bėgant daugelis iš jų praranda sveiką gebėjimą valdyti kulinarines subtilybes. Visiškai atrofuotas virtuvinis mąstymas tampa pirminiu poveikio įrankiu. Kaip žinia fiziologinių poreikių nepatenkinimas priveda prie didelės panikos ir štai čia valdonės pradeda manipuliacinį procesą. Mano kuklūs empiriniai tyrimai parodo, jog vyro kulinarinių gebėjimų atrofacija (pvz. liaudyje sakoma: jis negali net sumuštinio susitepti) tiesiogiai koreliuoja su moters emocinio smurto kiekiu. Taigi, man rodos viskas yra paprasčiau, tereikia leisti vyrui pasireikšti virtuvėje ir moteris neteks savo pagrindinio kozirio.

Bet pamirškime šias batalijas (tuo užsiima genderistikos asas AD),nes daug idomesnė yra tyrimų kryptis - maistas ir karas. Netyčia man teko pamatyti labai įdomų filmuką, kuris iliustruoja paskutinius karinius konfliktus per maistą.

Mano vaizduotėje sužmėžavo lietuviški maisto kariai, kaip antai volascepelinas arba vėdarai šaudantys baltosios mišrainės likučiais ir leidžiantys nuodingas dujas. Nuostabus mūšis, tikrai galime laimėti prieš amerikietiškus hamburgerius ar prieš bratwursta.

Tad į kovą mielieji gurmanai. Beje, nepamirškime sunkiosios artilerijos - KAR KOS.

Possíveis filmes e OVAs para o novo bloco do Animax

E já começaram as especulações sobre o bloco de filmes e OVAs do canal.

Segundo o Portal AnimaXer, a Sony Pictures (dona da marca Animax) acaba de adquirir um catálogo completo da empresa Manga Entertainment. Esta empresa possui uma enorme quantidade de filmes de anime e OVAs (Ghost in the Shell, Blood: The Last Vampire, Black Jack The Movie, Macross Plus, The End of Evangelion, Perfect Blue, Highlander: Search For Vengeance e Karas), entre outros, somando este acervo da empresa Manga Entertainment mais o da Sony Pictures, é com certeza um grande número de filmes e OVAs, e é aqui que começa a especulação, já começam a dizer por ai que essas produções "provavelmente" podem ser exibidas pelo canal, mas que não é algo ainda confirmado, como pode?! Esses afobados nem esperam o leite esfriar, criar espectativas só fazem aumentar a frustração no final.

שמעתי את השם מוזכר בהזדמנויות שונות, אבל רק לאחרונה יצא לי לצפות ב-OVA הנפלא הזה.

לכל עיר קיים מגן שעושה את מבוקשה ושומר על החיים בה. תוארו של השומר הוא "קאראס" ויכולות שינוי הצורה שלו משרתות אותו במצבים השונים בהם הוא ניתקל. הסיפור נפתח בקרב מהיר בין הקאראס הנוכחי - אקו - לבין קאראס אחר שזהותו אינה ידועה. בסיום הקרב מצהיר אקו על כוונתו להעניש את תושבי העיר בעקבות איבוד האמונה וההתרחקות מעולם הרוחות. באותו זמן, מגיע לבית החולים חבר יאקוזה בשם אוטוהא כשהוא מחוסר הכרה. הוא מתעורר בעולם מוזר בבקתה מבודדת ומוצא סביבו יצורים שונים ומשונים. הוא פוגש את נשמתה של העיר - נואה (Nue) ומקבל על עצמו את תפקיד הקאראס החדש. בצידה השני של העיר, מקבל בלש צעיר ומבטיח משימה, לשתף פעולה עם בלש מבוגר ותמהוני שחוקר רציחות משונות ובטוח בקשר שקיים בינן לבין העולם שמעבר. כשהסיפורים נפגשים, עתיד העיר לא ברור כלל...

האנימה מורכבת מ-6 פרקים בני 30 דקות והיא שוחררה ביפן בין 2005 ל-2007, כחלק מחגיגות 40 שנות עבודה של סטודיו טאצונוקו (Tatsunoko Production). האנימציה מהפנטת, אפלה והעבודה עליה הייתה רבה - סצנות ה-CG נערכו שנית בצורה ידנית על מנת לתת לפריימים מראה חלק יותר. רוב הביקורות על הסדרה קראו לעלילה מבולבלת ומסובכת שלא לצורך, אבל הייתה הסכמה כוללת שמדובר באחת מסדרות האקשן המרהיבות ביותר שיצאו.

I am taking the oportunity of using this blog to approach some interesting things about films and media in town, the net and around the globe. As you can see this site is constructed with a blog so I hope you enjoy as a blogger; If you know how this works you can always subscribe to the RSS feeds (is that how is it called?) so you can be updated about anything we post here!

I have been in Spain in the last 2 weeks and, apart from enjoying the sun, I had the oportunity to get to know interesting things about the net on my free time; one of them was finding this fantastic website called VEOH.com which provides the first High Definition Video streaming in the net (I've heard youtube is now trying to catch up with this and will soon broadcast in HD too!). Well, just log on to www.veoh.com and you'll see that no only is much much better than youtube, but also you can find content longer than 10min!! you can find 2hours or more!! I was actually watching Spanish TV programs, screened through my projector and the quality is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! I also found a movie I had to watch for a module (check Tetsuo..., is the whole film there!)

They are quite amazing. The first one is already quite old, so you might know about it, so then enjoy the last 2 which are quite curious. I also became a big fan of Satoshi Kon, director of Perfect Blue. If you havent watched Paprika, I really encourage you to get the DVD to watch it right now, or find Paranoia Agent (13 episodes only) on this same veoh.com.

Leaving a bit this world of animation I have seen in the last Total Film magazine issue that they are releasing the film I'm a Cyborg in UK. It is the last film by Park Chan-Wook, praised by his work with Mr Vengeance, Oldboy and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (the three of them amazing!). If you came to the screening of Memories of Murder I remember I mentioned this film (the Cyborg one), and I thought they were not going to be so brave to release it here. The thing is, it has been given a 4 stars in this magazine, but I cannot compare this last work with his previous masterpieces. I'm a Cyborg is definetely original and an interesting melodrama with fantasy/sci-fiction hints, but the pace is not so good as his vengeance films. In any case, I highly recommend if you have the oportunity, go to the cinema and watch it!

And now leaving the Far East and coming back to my roots: Spain, I was actually reading in this magazine that, The Orphanage (a Spanish film produced by Guillermo del Toro) is the film of the month. Well, indeed is a great film and you got to go right now and watch it! I heard a lot of dissapointments by my friends in Madrid, but I was really surprised to see such quality in the script and in the suspense built by the director, it certainly surprises!. The other Spanish film I wanted to talk about is [rec]... I havent watched it yet, but I really would like to get together with people from the Film[making] Society and watch it. It is a horror film and I heard is reaaaally really scary. I would say, for what I've heard, that is a mixture of Blair Witch Project with 28 Days Later... this time set in Barcelona in an old building...

2 horror films coming from Spain, and I am lately in the mood of watching a lot of horror films. I have a good collection of Short Horror Films... Spanish too. But I havent got the oportunity to find them subtitles. As soon as I get them, I would like to start doing a cycle of Spanish Horror Films (although maybe another time...).

In any case. I was reading also right now that Pedro Almodovar yesterday night was a great guest in the annual Ball at Montecarlo (Monaco). The topic this time was "La Movida", a cultural movement that happened in Madrid during the 80s, and which its most known artist is Almodovar. In the picture (left), Almodovar is posing with Bibiana Andersen (playing some small roles in films like High Heels, and an amazing transexual which is really loved in Spain, specially in Andalucia), Olvido (also known as Alaska in the 80s, one of the most characteristic Movida singers, playing a role in Pepi, Lucy and Bom) and a Spanish gothic singer.

And linking with Almodovar you can check his new website; a blog created by Almodovar talking about his upcoming film "Los Abrazos Rotos" where Penelope Cruz will feature again (www.pedroalmodovar.es). I actually found this information in a videopod... what is videopod??? well... is something amazing I also found on the net. The one I found is www.mobuzz.tv and here you can find a daily video informing you about things of the net!! What it really amazes me is the quality of the video and the loading speed! there is also content in French and Spanish. I was thinking that one day it will be really really great to do something similar here... and instead of me writing, appear in a blue screen studio talking about things happenind in town! This could be good for the new media officers for the Student Union at London Met... We are now in elections, and we should be voting. I know is something boring but we all should do it! Maybe I could bring info about this to this blog too.

Saburo Teshigawara, the theater technicians will never forgive you.

Two thoughts came to mind when watching Saburo Teshigawara dance over a huge bed of broken glass last night:

1) Self-expression, no matter how passionate, does not guarantee artistry;
2) Set design, no matter how sharp (pun woefully intended), has the danger of being a total gimmick.

Both of these conclusions apply to Glass Tooth, being presented by his company Karas at Theatre National de Chaillot this weekend.

Teshigawara is known for his visually striking set designs, and that they are. The rectangular beds of glass were simple, aesthetically pleasing and stunning when lighted. The reflections projected onto the black proscenium created a wonderful, soft texture above, and the lighting formations on stage were as sharp and clear as the glass pieces themselves.

Before the performance begins, one ponders the implications of dancing on broken glass. "Omigosh! Will they cut their feet? What does it all mean? Treading the precarious path of life? Tackling one’s perceptions of fear? Pure, shameless suspense?" It turns out that all he wants to do is make friends with the material.

“It is important to accept the environment and its materials. One must use them, not as tools, but for their own qualities, in the same way costumes and lighting are used in dance. The relationship we create with objects is like a duet.”

Thus, there are no overarching themes or symbolism; we get to watch Teshigawara perform what looks like improvised upper body movement over the crunching shattering glass (wearing shoes of course). He and his Japanese dancers feign ecstasy when crouched near the glass, caressing and touching the glass shards as if they were a bunch of cute, fluffy anime characters. Kawai!!! Let’s be friends!

What impressed me, actually, was his actual choreography on marley. His strong, elastic dancers were formidable executing Teshigawara’s fluid and lightning-quick “Forsythe-esque” movement. This demonstrated his deft movement capabilities and just how decisive his choreography could be.

Unfortunately the rest was rather forgettable. The performance included what seemed like a psychadelic rave gone bad (pop-and-lock-like movement to atrocious, generic techno music), a could-be scene from the original Japanese film “The Grudge” (a scary, pale little Japanese face glaring at the audience), and to top it off, a terribly boring solo by Teshigawara to a Romantic string quartet (music uncredited in the program, by the way) in which he resembled a sort of Japanese Pierrot Lunaire who was all sad ‘n stuff. (the whole part about self-expression not guaranteeing artistry) By the end, my pop culture corrupted self couldn't help but want to hear a certain Annie Lennox song...

Saburo Teshigawara is not without talent, nor are his fantastic dancers; if you ask me, he should focus on his dynamic choreography, and not let his notorious set designs get in the way.

Holy shit, I went like half a month without posting. I went from posting, like, every day to not posting for a month, how the fuck did that happen? Well, I could tell you how, but it's a long and boring story. Wait, this is my blog, it's meant to be long and boring, haha! Well, I was on this whole kick of wathing 90s anime a couple weeks back, but that sort of dimmed down because half the fun of watching 90s shows was buying the DVDs, however once you've cleaned out your local used DVD store, 90s DVDs are not fucking easy to come by (before you say a word, I have a dibilitating inability to do much with internet buying.) Well, once that wen tdown the shitter, I picked up a bunch of other shows, and basically caused the load to grow even bigger than it's rediculous size, hehe. I also started working for anime-planet.com which is an awesome site that everyone should check out NOW. I want to say I'm working there, however none of my contributions have been posted yet because of the site owner's insane business ^^;;

In the meantime, lets see here.... well, I watched the first season of Tokyo Majin which was pretty badass up until the end where the characters all became the same fucking person. I also watched the first season of Code Geass which went above and beyond my expectations, and I can't wait for the second season, assuming it can keep the insane momentum the first had. I also rewatched Kamichu! and found it even better the second time around, definitely belongs as one of my alltime favorite shows.

I've pretty much watched a bunch of first episodes fromt the current season, like H20 which was silly, True Tears which was interesting, Wolf and spice which wasn't as good as the manga, but I've been told I'm not allowed to compare them, and that it gets better, Persona, which was cool but sort of boring for taking itself too seriously, and I've been DLing some other shows that I haven't gotten to. Now, for the most important ones. First, Shigofumi which was an incredible first episode. As everyone has said, it definiely has that Kino vibe and the first ep's ending was just so incredibly sudden that it was impossible not to be in awe. I almost got to the second ep, but then my comp started acting up, so I'm delayed. Next, Hakaba Kitarou, which is an absolutely brilliant sinister horror story that feels like an anime Tim Burton would have made.

I also started watching Hatenkou yuugi raw because no one is subbing it, which is unfortunate. Hopefully, it will help in my eternal quest to learn moonspeak. But probably not.

Some other random things, watched te first KARAS OVA which was ZOMG BADASS and started watching Loveless and La Corda d'Oro which is like a double-whammy of shoujo. However while La Corda is a standard shoujo made good by it's production values, Loveless is after 3 eps an incredible experience that I feel bad for having evaded all this time.

I probably watched some other goddamn shit I don't even fucking remember. Whatever. Till next time.

Baru aja aku abis nnton karas.. Bagi yang ga tau itu ato ga ngerti dengan ceritanya emang harus nonton dari awal soalnya yang aku tau cuma ada seri OVA gitu, jadi emang ga begitu jelas ceritanya.. Tapi asli animasi paling keren ada di akhir episodenya dimana semua roh berkumpul menyemangati karas yang baik untuk membunuh karas yang jahat. Bagi yangbaru aja nonton ato belum pernah nonton coba ditonton.. ANIMASINYA... KEREN BANGET...!!!

Synopsis:

The world of the humans and the world of the demons (yōkai) have overlapped one another, leaving humans to walk the streets of life as they normally would, while demons walk, hidden from the naked eye, down the very same streets. A seemingly young woman named Yurine and her servant; the Karas have long maintained order and balance between the overlapped worlds, ultimately keeping the demons from interrupting the lives of humans. However, humans have come to forget and jest at the existence of demons, and no longer understand the privilege it is to live without fear. Disgusted by this arrogance, an old Karas turns his back on the laws he had once upheld, and in his human form, named Eko, he creates an army of Mikura, or mechanized demons, to ready an attack on the human race.

A young man named Otoha inherits the powers of the Karas and takes his place at the side of Yurine, who claims that his soul called out for her while he lived the life of a human. They live in the world of the demons. It is now up to Otoha to prove himself as a Karas, and restore the balance that Eko threatens to upset. Meanwhile, a superstitious police officer named Sagisaka and his rational new recruit, Kure, follow the trail of the murders dealt by Eko's Mikura, as well as the trail of a rogue Mikura named Nue. The prophecy unfolds from here into a grave revelation for all in the city.

Review:

The Karas series deals with a lot of ancient Japanese mythology and environmental issues for those of u who don’t know the word Karas means “Crow” in Japanese. This series has been ongoing for almost 3 years, that is a lot of time for a show considering that its only 6 episodes series. The reason for it being that the show got stalled during productions due to various circumstances but got restarted two years after the first three volumes were release. But it has finally been released in its entirety, on a side note this will be the first actually DVD review of an Anime show most of my reviews are based of the fansubs.

Story:

I have always been intrigued by Japanese Mythology and the way the screen writers add it to the Anime in new and creative ways. And this is especially true for a show like Karas which uses the Crow as a theme but also Cat’s these 2 creatures are revered in some cultures as the creatures who carries ones soul from the land of the living to the land of the dead. The way they achieve this in Karas is top notch and fleshes out the story and builds the foundation for the story.

The first OVA starts of very cryptic but everything gets explained to the viewer later on in the 4^th OVA so if it a little confusing in the beginning don’t let it put you of, the pieces of the puzzle will come together later on in the show. This might distract from the enjoyment of the first part of the show but that isn’t something big to worry about.

Just a warning to those who don’t enjoy the sight of blood, from OVA 3 onwards there is gallons of it being spilled in the show so if u are a bit gringy get your love one to cover your eyes or hide under the pillow till its over. But other than that the story combines Japanese mythology with great story telling.

Animation:

When the first OVA got released back in 2005 the animation was jaw dropping and it still is there hasn’t been anything coming close to the level of CG and animations to it every since and that’s no mean feat considering it’s almost 3 years old already. The way they integrate the CG into the show was just jaw dropping from the fighting sequences to the rain effects and explosions. This has to be the high point of the show the eye candy animation. If u don’t want to follow the story u can just watch the show purely for the eye candy. I wonder how many man hours went into making this show. ?

Sound/Music:

This was the only let down in the show with the exception of the opening and ending sequence songs and the theme that was played whenever the Karas transformed. Other than that the music was pretty none descript and nothing special. The sound effects on the other hand were amazing especially if u have a system that has the ability to support the 6.1 audio that the DVD offers, use it u wont regret the experience.

Characters:

They don’t introduce many characters during the show, instead they introduce most of the characters during the first 2 OVA`s and expand on each of there stories and how they fit into the bigger picture of the show. From Yōsuke Otoha (the Karas) to Nue (A rogue Mikura my favorite character) to Yurine the sultry “will of the city”. They get introduced at a moderate pace which suits the Anime perfectly and wraps it up nicely at the end of the show.

Enjoyment:

The level of enjoyment for this show is extremely high from the action sequences to the CG so if u want a audio visual experience that cant be given to you by any Hollywood movie out there then this show comes highly recommended.
