Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the Israelites. No one went out and no one came in. Then

Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the Israelites. No one went out and no one came in. Then the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams' horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have all the people give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the people will go up, every man straight in." Joshua 6.1-5.

This morning's reading has not been randomly selected as my readings usually are but follows on from those of the last two days. Those of you who regularly read these posts will know that I have been thinking about strongholds — those fortified places that the devil occupies in the world, in the church and (most particularly) in my own heart and mind — and about the way in which the Lord has provided for them to be demolished. And it was as I finished writing yesterday's post on "Spiritual Weapons" that the story of the Battle of Jericho came to mind.

Here was a stronghold indeed! Jericho was a fortressed city, and the problem was that, until the Children of Israel had taken Jericho, they could make no further progress into the land of promise; for Jericho controlled not only the fords across the Jordan but also the passes in the cliffs that gave access to the hill country. What a reminder that is to me of the importance of getting rid of strongholds wherever I encounter them. I need to remember that all strongholds are where they are by the devil's design. They are strategically occupied by the enemy to impede progress and hold back the purposes of God in my life and in the church and in the world. And I can take it as certain that wherever there is a stronghold — in my own life or elsewhere — things are not moving forward in the way that God wants them to move forward.

But how am I to demolish the strongholds I encounter. Jericho was a walled city that was "tightly shut up" so that God's people could not get at those within and could not conquer it ... or not by any human means. Yet I note that the first thing the Lord tells Joshua as he gazes at this impregnable fortress is: "I have delivered Jericho into your hands." I have delivered ... It is a reminder to me that, where there are strongholds, it is the Lord's role to demolishes them, not mine. I have a part to play, but it is not I who will bring the walls down; the Lord will. Or should I say, "the Lord has" for the Lord's words to Joshua put the conquest of Jericho in the past. So far as the Lord is concerned, the stronghold has already fallen.

The next thing I note is the complete absence of the use of human weaponry in the Lord's directions for the conquest. Yes, the "armed men" are to march round the walls but they are not to use their arms. The weapons here are the parading of the ark of the presence, the blowing of trumpets of ram's horns and the giving of a loud shout (later described as a "war cry" — Joshua 6.10). Looking back to 2 Corinthians 10.3-4 (see "Demolishing Strongholds" on 8 October), they are weapons "of the Spirit" as opposed to weapons "of the flesh" ... and they must have seemed a great foolishness to those who took them up and began to circle the stronghold with them in obedience to the Lord's command.

A final observation is that although trumpets were used in ancient Israel for signalling (as indeed, at the end of the seven days, they were used here), they were above all instruments of praise (2 Chronicles 5.13). And that is perhaps something which it is important for me to add to what I was telling myself yesterday about being filled with the Spirit. The Lord "inhabits the praises of Israel" (Psalm 22.3 KJV). Praise is the air that the Holy Spirit breathes. And he loves it when praise is the thing that fills my mouth and my heart. Indeed it is when I am full of praise that I find I am full of the Holy Spirit too.

Been at UBC for a long time. Been biking for twice as long. Knew there were awesome bike routes all around Point Grey.

But I haven't gone biking ever, until today!

Length: 11.3km. Time: 4:30-5:30pm.

The downhill from Marine Drive all the way to Jericho Beach was pretty wicked. I was going faster than my maximum peddle speed, and the bike started to shake. "One bump and that would be it for me," I thought.

And a road biker zoomed past me. The differential speed was at least 20 km/h. I felt I was going about 35-40km/h, so this dude was going close to 60km/h.

Biking on the sand is a different type of wicked fun. You feel like you're drunk. And any big turn will throw you off balance.

Weather today was gorgeous. At 12 degrees, I can't hope for better. Ok, maybe a little less windy would be nice.

Loads of memory at this place. Today I am only accompanied by my bike.

On the deck there was a couple dancing. I wish the seagulls were still dancing around them but I was too slow with my camera.

The bike back was totally insane. I didn't stop once when I climbed up 4th Ave from from Jericho to the forest, but I did get passed by an old dude and a girl.

In any event, UBC after exercise always seems very different. Very refreshed.

Bottom line: Everyone should try jogging or biking for an hour on campus :)

-So, hi there. I bet you’re wondering where I’ve been these past… err, month, huh? A whole

-So, hi there. I bet you’re wondering where I’ve been these past… err, month, huh? A whole bunch of things, actually. First, school started, and it took a while to readjust. Second, Other stuff kept coming up, like, for instance, watching the FUCKING AWESOME HBO Miniseries John Adams on DVD. And third, I felt absolutely burnt out on wrestling, and talking about wrestling. I needed the break. But, I figured it was time to come back, and do what I kind of do well. So here it is, the triumphant return of “The WORST, MOST SMARKY WRESTLING RECAPPER EVER!!!!” (Special thanks to my new friends over at SomethingAwful.com for such a prestigious title. Take THAT, Wade Keller and Scott Keith!).

-So, we kick off RAW with an actual shock: they didn’t actually have Jericho drop the belt to Ol’ Man Hickenbottom! I swear I smelt that title change coming a mile away, but I like it when I’m wrong, sometimes. Anyway, Jericho is DONE with Shawn forever. FOR. EV. ER. He’s also GM for tonight, because Adamle has an EMERGENCY MEETING with Vince’s spawn. Batista comes out, growls a little, and the attacks Jericho…

-HOWEVER, Batista forgot that Jericho is TEH BOSS tonight, so he gets to put his Number One contendership on the line against Breastshaw tonight. Oh yay, that shall be a very technical encounter.

-Our first match of the evening… lasts like three seconds. Beth Phoenix and Eurotrash Superstar (with cheap heat t-shirt) beat Team Virginia (Mickie and Jamie are actually a natural pairing), with King William Regal and Queen Layla, Duchess of Vapid Skankendom presiding. After the bell, His Highness and Jamie go at it, and I just realize that this feud has historical analogy here, a Virginian picking a fight with an Evil British King.

-Blame John Adams for that last one.

-Backstage, the sad, weather-beaten, leathery face of Shawn Michaels is giving one of the most awkward promos of his career with Nadd Grisham. I know they were trying for “emotionally charged,” but it came off as “Middle-aged Crazy.”

-For a short match (at least it broke 2 minutes…), Kofi Kingston vs. Ted Dibiase Jr. was pretty decent. The fans in attendance were certainly digging it. All involved in this match (Kofi, CM Punk, Ted, Cody Rhodes and Afa Jr.) are one of the FEW things that make me look forward to the future of WWE.

-Backstage, Jericho is having a conversation with… OMG IT’S RANDY ORTON ON TV, AND NOT IN A CAPACITY WHERE HE’S RUNNING DOWN SOMEONE. The Evil Heels are Scheming Evilly.

-HEY YOU! Remember John Cena? SURE YOU DO! White guy, wrestled in jean shorts, hero to millions of 13 year olds everywhere? Well, here’s a kind of unnecessary video package about how he got injured, just in case you forgot about Poochie. I mean, John Cena.

-MONSTAR AND MONSTAR Inc. (CEO: Tony Atlas-MONSTAR) are having a MONSTAR conversation, when some white guy with horrible bleached hair stops by. Dolph? That’s actually a name parents give their children? I thought Braden Walker was terrible. Anyway, Dolph tries to make friends with the MONSTARS, but Kane and Henry are not digging it. Then he tries to make friends with Tony Atlas, and he’s all “NUH UH, I DON’THINK SO, GIRL-FREN.”

-MONSTAR AND MONSTAR Inc. vs. Rey Mysterio and his Smark-Approved Friend of the Week (Matt Hardy)... actually didn’t suck, surprisingly. It definitely wasn’t match of the year, but it was a good TV match. Then again, they actually gave it time to develop and all.

-This Thursday, some big match on Smackdown that I probably won’t watch.

-WWE 24/7 CLASSICS ON DEMAND PREMIUM PPV CHANNEL FOR WRESTLING FANS WHO LIKE OLD WRESTLING Presents: Kane Tombstoning Pete Rose, back when it was socially acceptable to watch pro wrestling. Man, the decade has NOT been kind to Kane.

-Speaking of people whom the past decade has not been kind to, here’s Shawn Michaels! Lance Cade vs. Shawn Michaels was a garbage match, which ends with Shawn beating the piss out of Cade with a chair for the win. At least they didn’t have Cade kick out after the 70 billion chairshots!

-COMMERCIAL: HELL IN A CELL DVD SET! INCLUDING ALL YOUR FAVOURITE HELL IN A CELL PARTICIPANTS! STONE COLD!! THE ROCK!! SHAWN MICHAELS!! TRIPLE H!! RANDY ORTON!! THE UNDERTAKER!! KANE!! RIKISHI FATU!! THE BIG BOSSMAN! AND REFEREE TIM WHITE!!!!

-…What’s that? No, never heard of Mick Foley.

-Back from break, our first CyberSunday match is booked! Eurotrash Superstar will put the Intercontinental Championship on the line (I think) against Roddy Piper, Goldust, or The Honky Tonk Man!

-Also, making voting exclusively to cell phone users in the United States and charging a buck for it? The fuck, WWE?

-So yeah, that Johnny Knoxville-TALL Khali interview thing? TOTAL FUCKING WORK. It couldn’t be any more obvious, even if they bordered the screen with “THIS IS NOT REAL, YOU ARE WATCHING A SCRIPTED ARGUMENT.” TALL Khali hosting the Kiss Cam was funny, only because of the TALL Khali screaming Punjabi at random people as they kissed on national TV. The downside of all this? I think the TALL Khali is back on RAW. FUCK.

-Kelly Kelly vs. Jillian Hall was fucking PANDEMODIUM, what with Mizorrison and In Living Color 2008 yelling at each other over the headsets. Which, honestly, saved this segment, because the match was TERRIBLE. I even heard the “WE WANT PUPPIES” chant, that I thought died 4 years ago.

-In part Two of REMEMBER JOHN CENA! DO IT NOW!!, WWE guys reminisce about the time John Cena went to go hang out with people backstage at RAW just after neck surgery. AMERICAN HERO!!

-And for our Main Event, it’s Batista vs. Breast Shaw, with Jericho as our EVIL Guest Referee. And William Regal as our EVIL timekeeper. And Randy Orton as our EVIL guest commentator. And Snitsky as our EVIL head of security. And Jimmy Snuka Jr. as our EVIL popcorn vendor. You get the point. So, anyway, despite the entire ring being surrounded by HEELDOM, Batista wins after the surprise return of Mike Adamle sends a normal ref down for the three count. You think that’s all, but NO! Adamle books Jericho/Batista at CyberSunday, in a match with a GUEST REFEREE! Your choices are Randy Orton (BOO! BAD GUY!), Shawn Michaels (polite applause), and Stone Cold (OMG I REMEMBER HIM!! HE DRINKS BEER AND LIKES TO TALK ON MICROPHONES!!!).

All in all, this show was decent. It wasn’t terrible, or bad, or even blah. It was actually somewhat entertaining. Then again, I was going in with low expectations anyway. We shall see what next week brings.

-END.

Last night at WWE No Mercy, Chris Jericho, World Heavyweight Champion, came out the victor in the ladder match between him and Shawn Michaels. The match began right from the bell, and was arguable the match of the night. Possibly a match of the year candidate. Jericho took some pretty stiff shots with the ladder early in the match, which busted him open. Within the closing minutes, Jericho, who's face could only be described as "Chris Benoits", climbed the ladder on one leg. When he got to the top, Michaels met him in a tug of war with the belt. In the end, Lance Cade came out to help Jericho get the advantage. "Toothless Aggression" indeed. A terrific match to end a pay-per-view that saw no title changes, but was worth it non the less.

Hey@all,

1. ECW Championship
Matt Hardy (c) besiegte Mark Henry (w/ Tony Atlas) nachdem Twist of Fate

Das Finish war eh klar, Twist of Fate out of nowhere und pin... Ende. Sorry, aber das war garnichts...

Bewertung: 3,5 von 10 Punkten

2. WWE Women´s Championship

5. Match The Big Show besiegte The Undertaker via Knockout

6. Match WWE Championship
Triple H (c) besiegte Jeff Hardy via Crucifix

7. Match WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Ladder Match
Chris Jericho (c) besiegte Shawn Michaels

Das war also No Mercy.

(WWE's photo. Copyright is theirs and theirs alone.)

Tonight was WWE's No Mercy and we had on tap what was a potential stellar card. And what did we get? A STELLAR EPIC CARD!!! Read on for my analysis.

ECW Title
Mark Henry v. Matt Hardy (c)
- This match opened up the show and boy is Matt Hardy over. The crowd was hot for this and great psychology was put into this bout as well. Henry isn't the greatest wrestler but when put in there with a great wrestler you get a fairly decent match. The ending was hot as psychology came into play and Hardy won with the Twist of Fate. 2.1/5

WWE's Womens' Championship
Candice Michelle v. Beth Pheonix (c) w/ Santino Marella
- This was your typical women match. Candice Michelle is still rusty, very rusty. She missed a leg drop like 30 seconds into the match. The only good thing was Santino and that was minimum. Beth wins. 0.5/

Rey Mysterio v. Kane
- This was an iffy one going in as Kane is suspect to glide through some matches. But this was all kinds of awesome as Kane, when he is interested in his storyline, can put in some good big man performances. Rey Rey clearly took a nasty shot at the end and most likely got a concussion and/or more. Hopefully he will be okay as these two put on a good match. 3.2/5

Backstage Antics meet In-Ring Antics
- After this match we go backstage where MVP wants to talk to Vickie but Big Show doesn't let him. So he comes out to the ring and spouts off he is the bestest in the bidness. Out comes Orton to stake his claim as the bestest. Out comes The 3rd Generation (Rhodes, Dibiase, MANU) to say Orton is a buttpirate. Orton claims until they do something he is not listening to them. MVP gets shunned by The 3rd Generation and leaves. CM Punk and Kofi come out and convince MVP to join the brawl. THEY RUN!!! MVP slides in alone and takes a beating until CM and Kofi clean house. It was good and gave PPV time to a great feud brewing. 3/5

#1 Contendorship for the World Heavyweight Title
JBL v. Batista
- SQUASH!!! It clearly was an elongated squash but hey, Batista is money and they needed him on here, right? Anyways, the best stuff happened after the match where JBL thanked the fans for their money they will paying for him to be rich via the bailout. Then as he was done talking, Cryme Tyme came on the screen and jacked his limo. They had the divas and SGT. SLAUGHTER with them which was awesome. Match was nothing, segment was 3/5

Undertaker v. Big Show
- The 1,000,000th time they face off but this was pretty good. Alot better than their other affairs. I guess they are playing up Show can knock a mofo out. Show victory...YAY!!! 2.5/5

WWE Championship Match
Jeff Hardy v. Triple H (c)
- What a great match but that was expected. I don't think Hardy should have went over as it didn't happen but this was his way to prove that he does deserve a title reign. I think he'll get himself another shot after Trips loses the strap. Also, great finish. I thought Hardy had it and I was about to jump out of my seat. 4.3/5

World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match
Shawn Michaels v. Chris Jericho (c)
- Talk about an awesome match. Great way to end one of the greatest feuds of the 2000s. They went out of their way to match an awesome spectacle of the ladder with minimum add-ons. That bump Jericho took from the huge ladder was sick, sick, SICK!!! Both men busted each other up and the battle for the title at the end was brand new and inventive and I thought HBK had it. Jericho's jump off the ladder at the end cracked his tooth it looked like. Hopefully he will use that tomorrow for a promo. EPIC!!! 5/5

Overall this was just a great show. Everyone gave their best and in the end provided one of the best PPVs of the year.

LIVE tonight from Portland, Oregon is the 11th edition of WWE No Mercy! Two heavily hyped match will main event tonight. World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho will face off against Shawn Michaels in a Ladder Match. Being that Shawn Michaels defined the later match, one has to wonder if Jericho's luck will run out tonight. Also one match that everyone will have their eyes on tonight is WWE Champion Triple H VS Jeff Hardy. Jeff Hardy has been dying to get to that top spot for so long, and tonight it could be his last chance. But be aware of Vladimir Kozlov, as he might spoil Jeff's moment.

Lost

Entourage

Dexter

Life

Battlestar Galactica

Dr. Who

South Park

Real Time with Bill Maher

Heroes

House

Chuck

Scrubs

The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson

30 Rock

The Big Bang Theory

Family Guy

Extras

Nip/Tuck

The Sarah Connor Chronicles

How I Met Your Mother

The Simpsons

Reaper

Raising The Bar

In Plain Sight

Torchwood

My Name Is Earl

Little Britain

Shark

Two And A Half Men

Smallville

Californication

How Not To Live Your Life

Knight Rider 2008

American Dad

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart

The Colbert Report

Greek

Do Not Disturb

Mad TV

Saturday Night Live

Secret Diary Of A Callgirl

90210

Monk

Psych

Curb Your Enthusiasm

Flight Of The Conchords

Gossip Girl

Eureka

The Riches

Serenity

The West Wing

Seinfeld

Jericho

Arrested Development

Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Das also der Plan. Stop wasting time! 18 Favoriten, 31 gestrichen. Nicht schlecht.

Best regards, Mario

Before work today, I want to post a few quick thoughts on these two games.
Jericho: better than you

Before work today, I want to post a few quick thoughts on these two games.

Jericho: better than you'd think (or than reviewers would have you think). The combat is fun so far, the graphics are pretty good at rendering what's going on (people apparently hated the graphics... why?), and the story is actually quite interesting if you ask me. The dialogue does sometimes veer into the bad area (mostly when people use the word "fuck" more than 2 times in a sentence), but it actually complements the story quite well, I think. This relates to some thoughts I had while watching Aliens last night. Aside from the fact that each time I see that movie it blows me away a little more, it made me realize something about video game writing. about 75% of the video games I've played have stolen shit from Aliens. The mood, dialogue, characters, scenes, everything. But I realized why most games always fuck up that theft... More later, must talk about Myst 3 now.

It's dated looking (obviously), and the gameplay is as traditional as ever, with a fiew interesting developments here an ther. It's still better than any other Myst rip-off floating around out there these days, and I haven't even heard Brad Douriff speak yet! Plus I'm still stuck on the island with colored looking glasses. I'm going to go play more Jericho, late.

A few things: We celebrated Amy's 12th birthday this weekend. I'll have a touching 144 months old post up soon, but long story short, it was cool and she enjoyed herself very much and I can't believe that my first baby is 12. Gah!

Jack's parents left at the beginning of the month for a two month vacation. They like to drag their camper around continental North America. Anyway, 12 years ago this week after promising them that there was no possible way this baby was going to be born that weekend and yes, by all means go on your long weekend vacation 4 hours away, I totally had the baby right as they reached their destination and they had to turn around and drive back. They didn't even stop to use the bathroom. So, it only seems to fit the pattern that right as they crossed the United States/Canadian border Great Grandma Bossypants had to be taken to the hospital with a pinched nerve behind her ear which resulted in the doctors finding out that she 1) has pneumonia and 2) a hole in her heart that requires surgery. It's (the surgery) serious, but not as serious as it sounds. She's fine and bossy and her real concern (that pain in behind her ear) has been fixed, but when your mother's 92 and talking about surgery, you sort of turn around and start the long trip home immediately. Poor them. One day they'll get their vacation, uninterrupted.

Also, unrelated to Great Grandma Bossypants, to prove what a sci-fi nerd I am I kept telling my in-laws that when they got to Nova Scotia they had to go to New Bern. I have a friend from New Bern and the pictures she showed me were beautiful!! They're gonna love New Bern with its aged, picturesque buildings, seaside quaintness!! Yeah. I kind of meant Cape Breton. Turns out New Bern is a fictional town in Kansas that somehow escaped the total devastation of a nuclear attack and fought against the town of Jericho which also escaped total nuclear annihilation and was mayored by Delta Burke's husband and run by his two sons Skeeter Ulrich and some guy I've never heard of before but looks a little bit like James VanDerforehead. I really need to compartmentalize my sci-fi world better.

Comecei a surtar aqui!

Pronto, passou.

How I Met Your Mother = como me alonguei demais no Heroes, vou ser rápida e usar a expressão do novo (ou ex-novo) Barney Stinson no episódio: achei DE... wait for it... LIGHTFUL!

Two and a Half Men = foi fraquinho. But then again, eu acho a série toda fraquinha, eu só vejo pq eu sou doente.

Old Christine e Big Bang Theory = foi fraquinho. But then again, eu acho a série toda fraquinha, eu só vejo pq eu sou doente.

A carreira dela no cinema tava indo tão bem.

Droga.)

Susili hatte sich also schweren Herzens entschieden hinzugehen.

(Shakespeare, Hamlet) Die Jugendlichen sind vielleicht was dumm! Nix wissens von Geschichte! Werteverfall! 1870/71! Universaler Imperativ! Moral! Ethik!

Schoeller fragte: "Was meinen Sie mit Sinn?"

Hey@all,

WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Ladder Match

Chris Jericho (c) vs. Shawn Michaels

Tipp: Chris Jericho

WWE Championship Match
Triple H (c) vs. Jeff Hardy

Tipp: Jeff Hardy via DQ

ECW Championship Match
Matt Hardy (c) vs. Mark Henry

Tja, was soll man da groß sagen?

Tipp: Matt Hardy

WWE Women's Championship Match
Beth Phoenix (c) vs. Candice Michelle

Candice is back.

Tipp: Beth Phoenix

No. 1 Contenders Match for the World Heavyweight Championship
Batista vs. John Bradshaw Layfield

Tipp: Batista

The Big Show vs. The Undertaker

Today is one of those days you don't want to see to often. Well, actually, it's been one of those years, but that's beside the point. Fear, Frustration, Futility...and one Bad Ass Hebrew. Guess I'm blaming Jesus for not fixing things he thinks I can fix myself. Trouble is, his opinion and mine differ wildly..ha!

Still, in the spirit of "reconciliation", I found this poem I wrote about 12 years ago while I was going throug some wicked shit. If you see it elsewhere it's under a pen name. I have this thing about, well, reinventing myself from time to time. I think everybody should personally. But anyway, it was a poem, then a song, now its a poem again. Guess the more thihgs change the more they stay the same. Anyway..I offer it now in the spirit of brotherly love...I know Jesus remembers what it was like to have "a day from hell".

JOSHUA 8

The Lord said to Joshua, “Don’t be afraid not dismayed; take all the people of war with you, and arise, go up to Ai. See, I have given into your hand the king of Ai, his people, his city and his land, and you shall do to Ai and its king as you did to Jericho and its king. Only its spoil and its cattle you shall take as booty for yourselves. Lay an ambush for the city behind it.”

Joshua arose and all the people of war, to go up against Ai, he chose thirty thousand mighty men of valor and sent them by night. He commanded them saying, “Behold you shall lie in ambush against the city behind the city. Do not go very far from the city, but all you be ready. Then I and all the people who are with me will approach the city and it will com about when they come out against us at first, that we shall flee before them. They will com out after us till we have drawn them from the city, they will say, ‘They are fleeing before us as at the first.’ Therefore, we will flee before them, then, you shall rise from the ambush and seize the city, for the Lord you God will deliver it into your hand. It will be when you have taken the city you shall set the city on fire. According to the commandment of the Lord, you shall do. See. I have commanded you!”

He sent them out and they went to lie in ambush and stayed between Bethel and Ai, on the west side of Ai, but Joshua lodged that night among the people; :1-9.

Joshua rose early in the morning and mustered the people and went up, he and the elders of Israel before the people of Ai. All the people of war were with him went up and drew near and they came before the city and camped on the north side of Ai, a valley lay between them and AI. So he took about five thousand men and set them in ambush between Bethel and Ai on the west side of the city and when they set the people all the army that was on the north of the city and its rear guard on the west of the city, Joshua went that night into the midst of the valley.

Now it happened when the king of Ai saw it, that the men of the city hurried and rose early and went out against Israel to battle, he and all his people, at an appointed place before the plain, but he did not know that there was and ambush against him behind the city. Joshua and all Israel made as if they were beaten before them and fled by the way of the wilderness. So the people who were in Ai were called together to pursue them, and they pursued Joshua, and were drawn away from the city. There was not a man left in Ai or Bethel who did not go out after Israel; :10-17.

Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Stretch out the spear that is in your hand”, Joshua stretched out his speak toward the city. Those in ambush rose quickly out of their place; they ran as soon as he stretched out his hand, and they entered the city and took it and hurried and set it on fire. When the men of Ai looked behind them they saw the smoke of the city ascending to heaven, they had no power to flee this way or that way and the people who had fled to the wilderness turned back on their pursuers. When Joshua and all Israel saw that the ambush had taken the city and the smoke of the city ascended, they turned back and struck down (killed) the men of Ai. The others came out of the city against them; so they were caught in the midst of Israel, some on this side and some on that side. And they struck them down so that they let none of them remain or escape. But the king of Ai they took alive and brought to Joshua ; :18-23. And when Israel had made an end of slaying all the inhabitants of Ai in the field, in the wilderness where they pursued them, and when they all had fallen by the edge of the sword, until they were consumed, that all Israel returned to Ai and struck it with the edge of the sword. So it was that all who fell that day, both men and women were twelve thousand—all the people of Ai. For Joshua did not draw back his hand with which he stretched out the spear, until, he had utterly destroyed all the inhabitants of Ai. Only the livestock and the spoil of that city, Israel took as booty for themselves, according to the world of the Lord which He had commanded Joshua.

Joshua burned Ai and made it, a heap forever, a desolation to this day. The king of Ai he hanged on a tree until evening. As soon as the sun went down, Josh commanded that they should take his corpse down from the tree, cast it at the entrance of the gate of the city and raise over it a great heap of stones that remains to this day. Joshua built an altar to the Lord God of Israel in Mount Ebal, as Moses, the servant of the Lord, had commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the Book of the Law of Moses; “an altar of whole stones over which no man has wielded an iron tool.” They offered on it burnt offerings to the Lord and sacrificed peace offerings; :24-31.

And there in the presence of the children of Israel, he wrote on the stones a copy of the Law of Moses, when he had written. Then all Israel with their elders and officers and judges, stood on either side of the ark before the priests, the Levites, who bore the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord, the stranger as well as he who was born among them. Half of them were in front of Mount Gerzim and half of them , in front of Mount Ebal, as Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded, therefore, that they should bless the people of Israel. Afterward he read all the words of the Law, the blessings and the cursings, according to all that is written in the Book of the Law. There was not a word of all that Moses commanded , which Joshua did not read before the assembly of Israel, with the women, the little ones, and the strangers who were living among them; :32-35.

Sidebar: Are you paying attention to the fact that the Lord’s will is that all mankind carefully observe all of His laws? Verse 35 proves God has one law for all.

When all the kings heard about it, who were on this side of the Jordan, in the hills and the lowlands toward Lebanon—the Hittite; Amorite; Canaanite; Perizzite; Hivite; and the Jebusite—heard about it they gathered together to fight with Joshua and Israel with on accord. But when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and Ai, they worked craftily and pretended to be ambassadors. They took old sacks on their donkeys; old wineskins torn and mended; old and patched sandals on their feet; old garments on themselves; and all the bread of their provision was dry and moldy. They went to Joshua , to the camp at Gilgal, and said to him and to the men of Israel, “We have come from a far country, now therefore, make a covenant with us.” The men of Israel said to the Hivites, “Perhaps you dwell among us; so how can we make a covenant with you?” So, they lied and said, “From a very far country we have come”, when Joshua asked, “Who are you and where are you from?”

“We have come because of the name of the Lord your God, we have heard his fame and all He did in Egypt; and to the two kings beyond the Jordan—Sihon, king of Heshbon and Og, king of Bashan. Therefore our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spoke to us saying, ‘Take provisions with you for the journey, and go to meet them, and say to them, we are your servants ; now therefore, make a covenant with us”; 1-11.

Sidebar: This action turned into a fatal error—not seeking the counsel of the Lord—for the children of Israel.

When Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem, heard how Joshua had taken Ai and had utterly destroyed it as he did to Jericho, and its king and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were among them, they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, like one of the roal cities and because it was greater than Ai and all Its men were mighty , Adoni-Zedek, king of Jerusalem sent for four kings saying, “Come up to me and help me, that we may attack Gibeon, for it has made peace with Joshua and the Children of Israel”. The five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, of Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish and of Eglon gathered together and went up, they and all their armies, and camped before Gibeon and made war against it.

The men of Gibeon sent to Joshua at the camp at Gilgal saying, “Do not forsake you servants; come up to us quickly, save us and help us, for all the kings of the Amorites who dwell in the mountains have gathered together against us.” Joshua ascended form Gilgal, he and all the people of was and all the mighty men of valor. And the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not fear them for I have delivered them into your hand; not a man shall stand before you.”

Joshua came upon them suddenly, having marched all night from Gilgal. So the Lord routed them before Israel, killed them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, chased them along the road that goes to Beth Horon and struck them down as far as Azekah and Makkedah. And as they fled before Israel and were on the descent of Beth Horon, the Lord cast down large hailstones from heaven as far as Azekah, and they died. There were more who died from hailstones than the children of Israel killed with the sword; :1-11.

Sidebar: This battle was truly the Lord’s. Also are you noticing how seriously the Lord take the keeping of a covenant/contract/agreement?

Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel and said in the sight of Israel; “Sun stand still over Gibeon and moon in the Valley of Aijalon!” So, the sun stood still and the moon stopped till the people had revenge on their enemies. Is this not written in the book of Jasher? The sun stood still in the midst of heaven and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. Joshua and all Israel returned to the camp at Gilgal.

But the five kings hand fled and hidden themselves in a cave at Makkedah. When it was told to Joshua he said, “Roll large stones against the mouth of the cave and set men by it to guard them. Do not stay there yourselves, but pursue your enemies and attack their rear guard. Do not allow them to enter their cities for The Lord your God has delivered them into your hand.”

As Joshua and the children of Israel made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter till they had finished, that those who escaped entered fortified cities. All the people returned to the camp in peace. No one moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel; :12-21.

Joshua said open the mouth of the cave and bring out those five kings form the cave.” They did so and brought them to Joshua and he called for all the men of Israel and said to the captains of the men of war who went with him and side come near, put your feet on their necks”, and they did as Joshua said, "Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Be strong and courageous. This is what the LORD will do to all the enemies you are going to fight."

Joshua struck and killed the kings and hung them on five trees, and they were left hanging on the trees until evening. At sunset Joshua gave the order and they took them down from the trees and threw them into the cave where they had been hiding. At the mouth of the cave they placed large rocks, which are there to this day.

That day Joshua took Makkedah. He put the city and its king to the sword and totally destroyed everyone in it. He left no survivors. And he did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho. Then Joshua and all Israel with him moved on from Makkedah to Libnah and attacked it; from Libnah to Lachish; Horam king of Gezer had come up to help Lachish to no avail, from Lachish to Eglon; from Eglon to Hebron; Then Joshua and all Israel with him turned around and attacked Debir. Joshua defeated them and their armies—until no survivors were left.

So Joshua subdued the whole region, including the hill country, the Negev, the western foothills and the mountain slopes, together with all their kings. He left no survivors. He totally destroyed all who breathed, just as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded.

Joshua subdued them from Kadesh Barnea to Gaza and from the whole region of Goshen to Gibeon. All these kings and their lands Joshua conquered in one campaign, because the LORD, the God of Israel, fought for Israel. Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal; "13-

So they went out with all their armies with them, as many people as the sand that is on the seashore in multitude, with very many horses and chariots. When all these kings had met together, they came and camped together at the waters of Miram to fight against Israel. But the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid because of them, for tomorrow about this time, I will deliver all of them slain before Israel.

... awkwaaaard.
Every time there's an awkward silence, a gay baby's born.

Massive melons.

I also bought the new issue of Tiny Titans, they get their report cards! ... and I got two of my favourites here~
I seriously saw this coming, but it's way cuter than what I imagined!

xD~

And as you might've also guessed, Robin is scared of clowns! I believe the last panel will totally make the "Awwww" of the day.
Elementary my dear Watson.

I just remembered! My last year's Media Studies teacher looks like Edgar Allan Poe. With the hair, mustache and everything. Hah!

God, I have a fucking Cockney accent stuck in my head!
"Hello there dearest, would you like to have a cup of tea and scones with me?"
"Well, I do sir but..."
"Blast me! It's already 5 o'clock. Wanker! Bollocks!"

Going off the rail!

... Lastly,
I recently picked up a new title called Young Liars... and dropped Batgirl.
omg, I just jumped on board and I already have a clear idea what's going on. T'is amazing! It's zany (that's the only word i could come up with). Very Tarntino-esque. Fucking random, but awesome randomness.
You just can't expect what's gonna happen next!

I love it when little girls kicks ass :')

Btw, it's Vertigo.
Just imagine your mom getting nailed on the dining table while you're eating supper. :)

Pickup Young Liars, coz it's one of the most amazingest comics I've read. I'd give it the Mao-assurance-for-amazingness stamp :)
