Ogni sabato serata dalle 22:30 alle 23:30 e dalle 23:35 alle 24:30 Ritmo vi porterà nel mondo della migliore black music, ma non solo; funk, hip hop, jazz, elettronica, soul, drum’n’bass, disco, dub e altro ancora.

Il programma sarà suddiviso, come di consueto, in due parti: la prima ora di conduzione con news, notizie dai club, speciali, interviste; la seconda, che dedicheremo esclusivamente ad ospitare li mixtape di guest djs alternati alle nostre selezioni, sempre e comunque all’insegna dell’eclettismo più spinto.

DOGMA CREW 'LA OCTAVA PLAGA', nuevo y esperadísimo disco de uno de los mejores y más energéticos grupos de hip hop de la escena, estará disponible a partir del miércoles 24.

Legendario, Hijo Pródigo, Demonio, Putolargo y DJ Lacer son los culpables de la plaga que nos acecha. Shotta dice de ellos (en un tema del propio disco) que son “el grupo más oscuro” que conoce y no es para menos. DOGMA CREW han creado una imagen de grupo fuerte y sin concesiones para el rap más comercial. Con esta premisa, han confeccionado un disco duro pero atractivo, a veces oscuro y otras claro como el agua. Las letras contienen mensajes apocalípticos aunque contrastan con otros más personales de la vida de cada uno de sus miembros o de la vida de otros que hablan en primera persona. El dolor, el miedo, o las paranoias se van intercalando con vivencias propias. 'La octava plaga' es un camino de imágenes y sonidos para ir descubriendo poco a poco, explorando cada tema y cada ritmo como una aventura en un territorio peligroso.

El disco contiene 15 cortes que son 15 balas directas al cerebro. Colabos de Cirujano, Shotta, Nach y Sicario. Las producciones son muy variadas: Metodo Shintaro, Rayden, Candela Clap, Legendario, Dekoh & Karvoh, Accion Sanchez y Baghira.

as I was tag surfing earlier, I found a fellow wordpresser's blog, fine filter. from this blog, i found easily one of the coolest sites on the interweb:The Breaks, an online database of samples used in Hip-Hop. I searched through some Kanye songs to see where he got some of his samples. from there...i started searching youtube for the original songs, and stumbled upon DJ Funktuall and his "Top 10 Samples in Hip-Hop" series- here is Part 1 :

THEN i found this reaaallly interesting video from DW (Deutsche Welle) about how the English language is taking over German business' advertising, and the consequences it could have on the German language.

I love Germany. and Germans. and the German language.

and Gummibaeren, of course.

and why do white people whisper the word "black"? Macon D (from stuff white people do) guest wrote a post on racialicious:

What interested me, of course, was that whispering by a white person of
the word "black." I've heard white people do that many times, and I'm
not fully sure why they do it. Not that all of those who do it
necessarily do it for the same reason. Or reasons.

One probable
reason that a lot of white people whisper the word "black" is that they
think it's impolite to mention race. America is supposed to be
"colorblind" now, and so, the common white thinking goes, "we" are not
supposed to notice race, let alone point it out. Or even name it. So,
when we do point it out, we we should do that . . . discreetly."

i have to admit, I have done this before. Why? I don't find using the term "black" instead of "African-American" to be wrong, or hateful, or racist. I feel like the term is an identifier....and there are many people of color, who may or may not be assumed as "black", who would not identify themselves as "African-American". I do know that the word can be used as a racist term...maybe I am digging myself into a ditch here. I do know that I am oftentimes afraid of others misunderstanding my passion about anti-racism, me always talking about race...so when they (whomever "they" is) hear me say the word black, I guess I don't want them to get the wrong impression...

A musical genre away from their debut effort, Nicolay and Phontes sophomore album is quite an evolution in sound for the rapper Phonte (1/2 of the duo little brother). Don't pick up this album expecting the same mixture of hip hop/r&b tracks as its predecessor, no you could call this album a full out R&B record with the typical set up: Phonte with mic in hand and Nic on the boards. Up until now we've heard bits and pieces of Phonte's vocal capabilities in various tracks across his musical career (Zo! and Tig especially) but never as ear tingling scrumptious as the 11 harmonic-vocal filled tracks on Leave it all behind. Though he hasn't completely left his lyrical day job behind as tracks like "Something to Behold" still contain a hot 16 but, just don't expect half as many rap driven tracks as was on "Connected."

Not to give all the credit to Phonte, Nicolay also shines setting the tone and style for the album. The tracks range from down tempo and soft to an almost new age, house sound. Expect a little more of the synthesized, electronic sound of "Connected" plus some. The change in sound of the album may not be appreciated by all but none of the heart and soul or relationship themed melodies heard in their previous full-length have been left behind this time around. It's good music.

The album had an early digital release so buy it now on itunes or wait till the 14th for the official drop.

Man, this weekend has been nice. I needed a slow hip hop weekend to allow me to step away from the laptop, get some free time to myself, etc. Before I step out again, here goes another joint off the upcoming US/UK tape from DJ Semtex & Joell Ortiz, Pounds & Dollars, that I scooped from eskay's spot.
