Prolific and generous as always with her material, there are twenty-two tracks on this album. They come in two discs. The first disc is simply a re-release of the extremely rare first album of her On A Day... only, it has five unnamed live bonus tracks (though I name them below). This first disc is purely classical, based around her violin, most of which are compositions by well known composers such as Bach. Five of the tracks are her own compositions which sound very much like they go hand in hand with the other timeless classics on the album. These tracks were recorded when she was merely seventeen years old and showcases what a young talent she was.  Autumn throws her own arrangement and interpretation into the pieces. Whilst she plays the baroque violin with charm and style, she is backed up with her distinctive other sounds of the lute, harpsichord and the baroque cello - just to make sure you get the full Emilie Autumn experience. She is distinctive, even with pieces that have been played by so many others.

The first disc was recorded in 1997. So ten years on, what does the new disc, recorded in 2007, have to offer that is different from her first? Out with the old, in with the new. Emilie abandons the baroque violin in exchange for the electric violin. This time round, everything you hear on this disc is down to Emilie, she plays all of the instruments (including that distinctive harpsichord she is so well known for) and produced and composed the disc single handedly. I may be bold in saying, this is a disc that you have heard nothing like before. Genius in composition and flawless in their execution, Emilie delivers a sound to excite the mind. It opens with 'Unlaced' which was a sampler for this album on her last EP which is dark, brooding and atmospheric. The albums continues in the same vein, there are no weepy violin solos here. All packed with energy; some dark, and some just plain bouncy such as 'A Cure?' 'Face The Wall' is probably the most fascinating piece on here as it is solo electric violin and is the demonstration of Emilie's refreshing technique with the violin.

Both discs take some listening in order to appreciate the talent on display here. Some tracks may immediately jump out, whilst some are subtle.  If you love the violin, then there should be nothing stopping you here, as this is a new fascinating way for it to be heard.

The Limited Edition has the discs contained in a hardback book like cover, with a generous amount of artwork, and most notably, has the sheet music for the 'Unlaced' track.  There were only 2000 copies of this edition, which has sold out since.  Luckily the album has been re-released in a jewel case edition which is still readily available.

Hoje em dia tem se tornado cada vez mais difícil encontrar no orkut fotografias de qualidade, ainda mais com composição de planos...

Dark Butterfly é uma jovem mulher bastante apaixonada por mangás (eu evito o termo otaku sempre que posso^^), que tem várias fotos de cosplay e algumas EGL bem feitas, mas esta foto em especial me chamou a atenção por fugir de simplesmente TODOS OS CLICHÊS.

Em primeiro lugar, o tom de sépia. Em tempos de fotos P&B com detalhes coloridos via Photoshop, o sépia é um toque de originalidade e (sempre) de bom gosto.

A rosa despetalada. Poderia ser uma rosa negra colorida no Photoshop, poderia ser uma rosa vermelha, ela poderia estar segurando a rosa com ares de mocinha apaixonada ou trevosa convicta, mas não. Ela optou por uma rosa clara, despetalada de forma caótica, em primeiro plano. O que temos aqui não é a mocinha suspirante ou a súcubos sedenta. Temos apenas uma mulher numa atitude que não se sabe de dor ou de desprezo.

Os planos. Ah, os planos! Essa foto é harmoniosa em todos os detalhes e a escolha dos planos, especialmente do terceiro, ao fundo, parece nos introduzir a um espetáculo. Essa foi a impressão que tive quando olhei a foto pela primeira vez: as cortinas parecem formar um palco. Ou seria uma cama sobre a qual a mulher estaria displicentemente jogada?

EM RESUMO: boa escolha de cores e cenário (cemitérios e atmosferas gótchekas não são tão originais quanto a maioria pensa, afinal...), boa iluminação e belíssima composição de planos. Parabéns.

Mi se pare oarecum ciudat sa scriu despre "muzica". Pun "muzica" intre ghilimele pentru ca vreau sa ma refer la mai mult decat linie melodica si versuri, trecand putin si spre peisajul uman din spatele acestora, cu mentalitatile si trairile specifice. M-au fascinat mereu oamenii pentru ca a asculta un un anumit stil de muzica nu se rezuma la distractie, ci semnifica un adevarat fel de a fi, de a trai, de a vedea lumea, de a gandi, de a socializa...

De-a lungul timpului aceasta arta a cauzat adevarate revolutii in mentalitatea si stilurile umane, dezvoltand culturi si subculturi specifice. Desi astazi nu mai putem vorbi despre genuri muzicale sau culturi si subculturi pure, exista inca oamenii care se pastreaza oarecum impreuna prin muzica pe care o asculta si stilul pe care il adopta. Fascinata de cautarea unor locuri in care contrariile pot coexista sau se pot unifica si trecand de la Nietzsche la Blaga, am ajuns si intr-un timp si spatiu contemporan si printre oamenii care probabil cauta inca acelasi lucru...am ajuns in apropierea muzicii si subculturii goth.

Istoria mişcării goth începe undeva pe la sfârşitul anilor ’70 în Marea Britanie. Iniţial, noţiunea de „goth” definea specificul unor formaţii post-punk şi de-abia prin anii 80 goth-ul a început să fie considerat o mişcare aparte. Înfăţişarea scenică propusă de membrii unor formaţii precum Joy Division şi Siouxsie and the Banshees ( o imagine oarecum androgină, machiajul accentuat al ochilor şi buzelor) precum şi tonalitatea sumbră a versurilor şi sunetul sinistru al chitărilor a reprezentat punctul de plecare în naşterea unei mişcări separate de mişcarea post-punk. Single-ul de debut al unei formaţii numite Bauhaus, Bela Lugosi's Dead, lansat în 1979 , este considerat a fi începutul propriu-zis al rockului gothic.

Spre deosebire de punk, muzica goth aborda o tematică mai „întunecată” inspirată din unele curente precum romantismul, simbolismul, existenţialismul.

Clubul Batcave , deschis în Londra în 1982 , a fost probabil cel mai important factor în crearea subculturii gotice, aşa cum există ea în zilele de azi. A oferit oamenilor cu idealuri şi feluri de a fi comune un loc de întalnire. Nu numai ca a fost un punct major pentru scena londoneză, dar a atras foarte multă atenţie din partea mediei, care a raspândit ideea noii subculturi în întreaga lume.

Ulterior, în interiorul goth-ului au început să se dezvolte alte subgenuri muzicale , lucru care a condus la o diversificare a subculturii în sine. Astăzi, genurile asociate în general cu acestă mişcare sunt goth rock, deathrock, darkwave, post-punk, batcave, industrial, E.B.M. Există şi un stil muzical denumit gothic-metal în jurul căruia părerile sunt foarte împărţite. Mulţi consideră că acest stil muzical nu ar avea nici o legătură cu goth-ul înafară de nume, dar există şi persoane care îl includ în limitele muzicale ale goth-ului.

La momentul actual,vestimentaţia este factorul care face ca această subcultură să intre cel mai puternic în contrast cu peisajul cotidian.Putem spune că înfăţişarea se bazează pe două substiluri mari: stilul victorian (corsete, crinoline, dantele etc) si stilul post-punk. Culorile cele mai des întâlnite sunt: negrul (preponderent), albul şi roşul.Aceste culori sunt strâns legate de semnificaţia pe care o poartă şi care nu întodeauna este aceeaşi. Faptul că se îmbracă în special în negru poate căpăta valenţe diferite pentru fiecare în parte, dar majoritatea converg spre fascinaţia exercitată de întuneric, de mister, de sumbru. Albul este tot un simbol al doliului, dar poate simboliza şi lumina care se naşte din întuneric, bucuria în durere etc. Roşul este de obicei asociat cu vampirismul.

Mentalitatea goth se referă la o gândire deschisă, lipsită de prejudecăţi, dispusă să valorifice şi elementele respinse de restul societăţii. Goth-ul implică si o stare de spirit înclinată spre melancolie şi depresie, dar în acelaşi timp şi o atitudine pozitivă, capabilă de a descoperii frumuseţea în lucrurile “întunecate”.

Das neue Album der Musikphilosophen überrascht in mehrfacher Hinsicht:
Überraschend ist das Erscheinen von „Silmand“ selbst, denn seit sieben Jahren war es still gewor-den um sToa. Die Fans wird es freuen, dass sich sToa-Master-mind Olaf Parusel auch mit sei-nem vierten Album musikalisch treu bleibt. Neben der gewohnten Melancholie finden sich ungewohn-te Poprhythmen auf dem facetten-reichen Album. Der typische sToa-Sound ist dennoch unverkennbar.
Überraschungen bergen auch die Gesangsstimmen. Zum einen ist da Mandy Bernhadts Engelsstimme, bekannt von Live-Auftritten der Band. Zum anderen erklingen auf „Silmand“ die Stimmen dreier Gastsänger. Die erste Stimme gehört der australischen Multi-instrumentalistin Lousia John Krol. Der Niederländer Peter Nooten (Ex Clan of Xymox) konnte für „Silmand“ ebenso gewonnen werden wie der Leipziger Ralf Jehnert (Love is Colder than Death).

Mit „Silmand” ist ein Album für die leisen Momente des Lebens entstanden, zum Kuscheln, zum in Gedanken versinken, zum Philosophieren. Der Klang von sToa verführt dazu, der inneren Traurigkeit nachzufühlen und ihr auf Engelsflügeln zu entschweben. Die dunkle Seite der menschlichen Gefühlswelt wird ausgelotet, ohne dabei in Klischees zu verfallen. Die Melancholie wird berührt, dem Sehnen und Hoffen gehuldigt, die Seele musikalisch gestreichelt.
Einen Vorgeschmack auf das neue Album von sToa geben die Songs „Hanuz Nist“ und „Broken Glass“ auf der offiziellen Myspace-Seite der Band.

Eines der Stücke auf „Silmand“ kam im Vorfeld als Filmmusik zum Einsatz.
„Silmand” bedeutet soviel wie Seelen-monat. Damit wird der September in einem fast vergessenen deutschen Dialekt bezeichnet. Olaf Parusel sagt zur Na-menswahl für das neue Album: „Der September lässt neben der Stärke und Lebenskraft des Sommers schon die Me-lancholie des Herbstes durchschimmern. Als Ahnung von der Unerbittlichkeit des Winters, in der sich alles Leben zurück-ziehen wird.”
Natürlich ist das Album „Silmand” für alle Monate des Jahres geeignet.

Wie wäre es, ihm in ruhiger Abendstimmung und einem guten Glas Rotwein zu lauschen?

Seine früheren Veröffentlichungen sowie seine zahlreichen Live-Performances in Kanada und Europa haben seine Musik bereits weithin bekanntgemacht. Glenn war in den letzten Jahren regelmäßig als Live-Performer auf kanadischen Darkraves zu sehen, wo er sowohl in den Chill-Out-Areas als auch auf der Main Stage erfolgreich agierte. Diese Auftritte haben ihm den Ruf eines kreativen solistischen Elektronik-Musikers eingebracht.

Mit dem am 5. September 2008 erscheinenden dritten Album „Cryptesthesia“ verlässt Glenn Love die Ambient-Ecke und bewegt sich stilsicher in Richtung Dark Electro / Industrial, ohne jedoch hierbei seine Roots aus Ambient und Celtic Folk völlig zu verleugnen. Erstmals setzt Glenn Love auch Gesang (teilweise in deutscher Sprache) ein.

Bei der im Vorfeld der aktuellen Veröffentlichung stattgefundenen Tour in Kanada und Europa kamen Uptempo-Tracks wie "Hang on", "Schnee von gestern" und "Sagt mir wo" ebenso gut an wie die trotz reduziertem Tempo gut tanzbaren Titel "Nuit Musee" und "Cryptesthesia", oder das hypnotische "Airships", das im vorliegenden Wutklang-Mix durch seinen treibenden Sequenzer-Bass besticht. Ruhige Tracks wie "River" und "Outskirts" runden die deutliche Weiterentwicklung von Glenn Love auf seinem neuen Album ab.

Der druckvolle Sound von ≥Cryptesthesia„ wurde im deutschen TS-Musix Studio produziert und gemastert. Das Album erscheint auf dem deutschen Label Sonic-X, das seit Anfang 2008 als Sub-Label von Danse Macabre agiert.
