man, i just love a pretty dress. i love shoes and purses, skirts, shirts, pants and such. AND the right touch of jewelry just adds the most feminine touch. but... if you add too much jewelry and too much femininity...if you get my meaning, then you have an odd overload.

Reminds me of a Bible verse

1 Peter 3:3-4: " Do not let your adorning be external- the braiding of hair, the wearing of gold, or the putting on of clothing-but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious."

which reminds me, ladies, when you dress, you can either do it for man's glory or God's glory.

have you ever thought: WHY can't i wear what everyone else is wearing? well, i like fashion, so if everyone else is wearing it, it might mean i'm wearing it too. BUT you know that probably not everyone is wearing it. i always go shopping with my mom and she makes sure that what i wear is honoring to God and that it is modest. and i'm glad she does...if it is not modest then we either pitch it or if it can be "fixed," i wear a tank top with a high neck.

in the book i mentioned last post, Secret Keeper, their Secret Weapon for modesty is a tank top!! you can find them in the men's department at some stores, but mostly look for ones with a higher neck than the shirt you are wearing now. keep your eyes open. they are all around you. i found some at wally world for 5 bucks a piece. they pass the modesty test from Secret Keeper. when you get the book, make sure to take the test. it really opened my eyes on what i wear and how to keep from wearing that.

now riddle me this: why are we so anxious about what we wear? is it because we want to impress the cute boy at school? at church? to keep up with the fashion? well, whatever the reason, we need to make sure that what we wear is pleasing to God. for "charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised (Proverbs 31:30)." and since we are not our own, we have to praise God with WHATEVER we wear.

you know those old women on tv and how they have to wear cream to make themselves look young again? well, that's what this verse means. beauty will go away and charm tricks you into thinking that it will be forever. but it will not be forever. that's why we have to glorify God with our beauty NOW and not tomorrow because, you never know, tomorrow may not come.....

I took my daughter to “My Library” the other day. It took us forever to find the place.

I took my daughter to "My Library" the other day. It took us forever to find the place. I wanted to make it for story time, qadarullaah, we missed it. We were told that the library was located on the first floor of the "My Elegant Home" showroom on Rawdhah St. In reality, you have to enter on the right side of the plaza where Berlitz is then, take the elevator up to the first floor.

After treading a pretty long hallway, we finally found it and went inside. Alhamdulillaah, it's for women and children only, so I got comfy. The last of the children and their mothers were heading home. Poor Su'aad, once again my baby had to play by herself. The web site states that story time is twice a day (11:30 AM & 5:30 PM) so, I thought some kids would still be around coloring, reading or playing. The librarian was apologetic and assured me that there would be more kids for Su'aad to interact with if we return the next morning.

Well, since we're here let's make the most of it.....

I picked out a few books then, we sat together at a little table. My knees were almost to my chin, but who cares, I'm with my baby and I want to make her happy. She preferred to "read" by herself and choose her own books. Well, excuse me:) Su'aad went off to do her own thing as I skimmed through a kiddie 'Arabic/English word book. Alhamdulillaah, I added a few words to my vocabulary. I love kids books:)

The library is very clean, colorful, yet dim. I think a library should be well lit for reading. Anyway, the books are divided into sections according age. Even the babies have their own pop-up books - cute. The back of the library is reserved for writing, painting, arts and crafts, etc. It looks like a large classroom. Overall, it's a nice place for children and hands-on mothers. Nannies are not allowed to interact with the children. They have to sit in a designated place and wait.

They have a summer camp program going on now and even though it'll run for just 2 more weeks, the fee is 1500 SAR - uh, no thanks. Why charge so much when the program is almost over? I can see paying 1/4 or even 1/2, but full price?! Laa.

From Sat. - Wed., 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM, children 3 - 10 yrs old take part in:

Quraan Memorization/Stories of the Prophets/Tafseer/Du'aa/Hadeeth

Arts/Crafts

Reading/Research/Story Time/Story Writing

Cooking

Science Experiments/Fun Activities

Getting to Know the Library (What's in "My Library")

Maa Shaa Allaah, very nice!

The library is small compared to what were used to in the West and it's not free. A simple visit (not including activities or anything else) is $15 SAR each person whether they're an adult or child. Money talks. They have regular membership fees outside of summer camp. $350 SAR for 3 mos. Sorry, I forgot the cost for six mos. and one year memberships. You can give them a call if you're interested. Tele: 02 263 1709 - Cell: 055 056 5110.

I can't get my pictures off of the camera. When I figure our what's wrong, I'll upload them for you all to see In Shaa Allaah.

It's summer! And it's time to let loose!

So if you need an "excuse" to let your hair down and work some sexy dance moves... then you need to get involved in Eva Redpath's GIRLICIOUS dance workshop. She's a pro. And she's holding it this Saturday July 26th.

"When God relates people, it is for increased personal strength, spiritual growth, and kingdom purposes."

"Their season of nurture may be short, but it must be potent and concentrated if this generation of promise is to accomplish the God-breathed destinies woven into the fabric of their beings."

"Know the heart is more powerful than a nation. What government has ever held the power to change the human heart?

May i spoil myself, please? Yes! Back to blogging! @ times it's hard to say 'no' to pple, to things, to myself... i'm still learning... Over the past few days I studied, played around with Stata, I read Deuteronomy, I highlighted, i debated, i tossed, I made calls for Born To Fly, I went for runs, i scrubbed, i had family dinners, lunches, teas, i laughed & bummed with good ole childhood mate, I hugged dad goodbye & a safe trip, I handed my assignment in, i woke up early, i journalled, i sought the Lord about life, people & interview questions, i made plans, i had an interview Tuesday morning, i dropped BTF flyers off, i sang, i worked on the BTF inventory (i had lovely angels to help me in between their VCE study break), i was blessed, i had revelation, i worked more on the BTF prizes, i drove, i trained, i had Breadtop, i prayed at Touching Heaven, i wrote, i questioned, i read & replied emails, i encouraged, i slept, i wept, i dreamed, i cheered, i woke up, i taught, i joked, i acted silly, i reflected, i shared, i trusted ... and i spent 2 hrs at Coffee Club with a book i can't put down!... it's by Lisa Bevere, "Nurture".

So for someone who does not wear a lot of makeup I know a lot about it. I can so picture the dialogue with the religious police, it's going back and forth in my head ("Astarghfirullah sister, knowing the difference between Guerlain and Tarte bronzer isn't going to save you from the Hellfire)...but anyways. Every now and then it is good for a few laughs, like the other day at work. A coworker came up and I knew what eyeshadow she was wearing. Like out of the millions of eyeshadows out there I knew exactly which color and brand. It was Chanel, btw. Greys and blues are in right now so I could have had any choice of guesses but I knew it was from Chanel's spring collection. *sigh*

Now only if I could translate that kind of knowledge into a marketable skill. My mom said that once. I do believe that every person has at least one thing they can do better than most people. Mine falls somewhere between fixing paper jams, identifying eyeshadows, and deciphering letters written in obscure languages. But I can still find someone who does all of these better. Oh well.
