It has been a hell of a weekend, as I went to a trip in the mountains- leaving behind the great fuss caused by the -WHAT IN THE WORLD AM I GOING TO WEAR questions :)- it was a great weekend.

Also, today I don't know why, maybe because of the unexpected heat outside- at least for this time of the year, middle of October equals 5-10 degrees and now there are 25- all the girls I saw starting 8 o'clock were dressed very fashionable. At first I thought, OMG they are all reading my blog :) but then I decided to write about the top 10 fall trends in my opinion at least. :)

I keep lists of keywords, places, names, blahs which I have to investigate later. Appearance Mode was one of them and upon arrival I was blessed with a nice shopping attack. Yay!

First I fell into the puking bird T-shirt from H&V (heartattack and vine). I've had seen it around the blogs but didn't go out to buy it.

The shorts are from Karamia and come in different classic denim colours and each with black or white buttons. It's all good is right next to Karamia. You can find lots of colourful stuff there, I really had to behave and only got the rainbow coloured leggings, each colour wearable with or with out the laces on the lower leg.

The yummy fruit salad on the skin and the glowy cheeks are group presents from BP*. The shoes are (as usual *harhar*) from Periquita and the hair (quite as usual as well) from COIF, tinted by myself to a barking mutant carrot red (yeah...okay...).

The bird's from HappyMood, of course and I'm rather sure it had eaten very well and feels inspired by my shirt!

Don’t let fashion trends cost you your health, cautions Neha Ghosh

“It’s clothes that wear us, and not we them,” said writer Virginia Woolf. She wasn’t too off the mark. Look at us. From skinny, super tight denims to pointed heels, we have allowed fashion to rule us; so what if they aren’t comfortable. But is it really worth it? No, for we are putting ourselves at risk with what may seemingly look like innocuous fashion trends. Here’s how.

1. They make you feel tall and statuesque; high heels do. But at what price? Stilettos have been known to cause backaches, stiffness and arthritis. Prolonged wear can even strain your spine and give you a bad posture. And let’s not even talk about the painful bunions and corns that you’ll get from having walked on your toes all day long; or the possibility of a twisted ankle.

Having said all that, we wouldn’t recommend that you discard the sexy pair of Manolo Blahniks you just emptied your wallet on. Use high heels by all means, but sensibly and on occasion. And when you do, carry an extra pair of flat shoes to ease the pressure off your knees from time to time.

2. The thing about thongs is that they are sexy and make you feel like the sex goddess. Only sometimes, it’s a sex goddess with a yeast infection. Ouch! Yeast thrives in a warm, humid environment, that’s exactly what thongs seem to provide. They irritate the vagina by not allowing it enough air. Ramee Khanna, a 22-year-old interior designer, confesses, “I once wore thongs for two straight weeks and ended up with a really nasty infection. It was so bad that I had to visit a gynaecologist. I’ve sworn off thongs ever since.”

If you must wear thongs, avoid putting them on for prolonged periods. Use clean cotton panties as a rule; thongs can be a once-in-a-while exception.

3. Corsets are all the rage, right now. They emphasise your curves and make your waist look oh-so insignificant. Aha, but there’s a catch. Modern research indicates that corseting and tight lacing can harm your body. They exert excessive pressure on your chest and internal organs and could cause breathing problems.

4. Hair is our crowning glory but we often subject it to hair products that may not necessarily be good for it. Many shampoos, for instance, contain sodium lauryl sulfate, which has reportedly been known to cause baldness and scalp infection.

Make sure you read the list of ingredients when buying hair products. Also, as much as possible, stick to natural products to make your hair healthy and lustrous.

5. Make-up is a woman’s best friend and can make you look charming even on a bad day. But bad make-up can also leave you vulnerable to skin infections because it is the perfect breeding ground for bacteria. Skin specialist Dr Ritu Pudha advises, “It’s best to throw old make-up away.” “You shouldn’t keep mascara for more than six months; foundations and lipsticks for more than a year,” she continues.

Many cosmetic companies are evolving ways to keep harmful substances out of your make-up. “It is very important to read the labels on products you intend to buy. Thoroughly investigate the products you use; it will definitely benefit you in the long run,” is her belief.

6. We’ve all spent sweaty, exhausting hours at the gym in quest of the perfect hourglass figure. Nothing wrong with that. The problem arises when we try to look the part, dressing up in fancy lycra workout attire. It’s a good fit, no doubt, but can prove quite disastrous since it does not encourage any circulation of air. This leads to the accumulation of sweat in the inner thighs and around the waist causing ugly rashes and infections.

Stick to cottons for workout to prevent complications.

7. The ’80s fashion scene is making a comeback. But before you go the Tina Turner way, remember that knee-high stockings can impede blood circulation and cause spider veins.

8. Most of us are in the dark when it comes to sunglasses. That is to say, just because your sunglasses are dark does not mean that they protect you from the sun. For all you know, these seemingly protective shades may be attracting rather than repelling the ultraviolet rays. As with clothes, dark colours absorb light and heat and without the special coating that offers protection to your eyes, the trendy glasses may cause photokeratitis, sunburn of the eye, which makes your eyes red and sensitive to light.

9. Chandelier earrings make quite a fashion statement. But because of their bulk, they can cause your ear lobe to rip, causing recurrent infections.

Handy tips

• When wearing pointed shoes, stuffing some cotton at the toes will prevent shoe bite.

• Planning a vacation? Give your fancy undergarments a miss. Pack in disposable cotton panties; they are convenient and very hygienic.

• Old mascara can cause eye infections. If it looks clumpy, it’s time to throw it away.

• To avoid pus while wearing earrings, apply a bit of nail polish. It will dry the pus immediately.
