Windows Live Writer, though still in it's beta stages, provides arguably the most convenient and fully featured blogging client. I've been putting it through its paces since the outset of the creation of this blog, and I've had few complaints.

First let's talk about what it does well. Live Writer is a WYSIWYG editor down to the very tee. It even goes as far as recreating your blog template/theme - so there'll be little to no surprises once you hit the publish icon. Another thing this editor handles well is photo publishing. Sure it gives you the expected photo resizing capability, margin properties, and alignment format - but it goes even further in giving you the ability to have these photos uploaded to a personal FTP server, or Wordpress' on servers (which can be limited for those with a basic account).

What's wrong with it? Like I mentioned there can be a few surprises once you hit that publish button. In my experience with the program, there have been cases of formatting/spacing issues with regards to how photos and videos are placed around text. There have been instances where the gap between them was too big, and times where gaps have been non-existent. All while my Live Writer screen displays the post as I've originally intended. But at the end of the day, it's a minor blemish on a program, that is still in beta (and seriously...what Microsoft product is ever finished? Need I say Vista?)

It's free, and it does its job well. And visibly having it on my desktop has definitely motivated me to write - although the verdict is still out on whether that's a benefit.

Unfortunately, it seems like most of the programs I've highlighted on this blog, it is a Windows exclusive. A Mac alternative? Ecto seems to be a highly recommended choice, but surprise, surprise, it isn't free.

Another alternative I haven't considered or tried, is blogging via Flock. Think about it as Firefox on steroids - it's powered by the Mozilla engine, but it boasts a number of "social web" features like a built-in blogging tool. And finally, it is OS agnostic, supporting Windows, Macs, and even Linux.

It features loads of blogging sites like WordPress, Blogger and lots of others. I hope everyone enjoys this software as it is awesome!

หลังจากผมได้เริ่มเขียนบล๊อกอยู่ไม่นาน microsoft ก็ได้ปล่อยตัว Window Live Writer ออกมา (ก็ไม่นานมากนี้เอง) แล้วหลังจากที่ผมได้ทดลองใช้ mac อยูสองเดือนก็ได้รู้จัก MarsEdit กับ Ecto

หลังจากลองทดสอบมาหมดทุกตัวแล้วก้อจะมาลอง review กันนะครับ

Window Live Writer

- ผมถือว่าทำได้ไม่เลวเลยครับสำหรับโปรแกรมตัวนี้ ผมจะลอง list ฟังชัน คราวที่เด่นๆ ของมันนะครับ

1. Live Preview ตัวนี้ไม่ธรรมดาครับ เราสามารถเห็นได้เหมือนที่เห็นใน browser เลยครับ เพียงแค่คลิกที่ update เท่านั้น theme ที่อยู่ในบล๊อกเราก้อจะมาปลายกดบนหน้าจอ สามารถเขียนลงไปได้ในนั้นเลยครับ

2. Multi Account อันนี้ก็จำเป็นสำหรับคนที่มีหลายบล๊อกครับ

3. Media Function อันนี้เราสามารถลากรูปภาพลงไปแปะได้เลยครับ

4. Writing Tools อันนี้ผมชอบมากครับ เหมือนเราใช้ Microsoft word ยังไงยังงั้นเลยครับ สามารถสร้าง table ได้ภายในพริบตา

สรุปเป็น ตัวเลือกที่น่าใช้มากครับจากฝั้ง window

MarsEdit VS Ecto

เริ่มด้วย MarsEdit กานก่อนเลยนะครับ สำหรับตัวนี้ถือว่าเป็นตัวแรกๆ ของกานเขียน blog เลยก้อว่าได้ แต่ถ้าเปรียบเทียบกับ Ecto หรือ Window Live Space เองก็ดูเหมือนว่าจะมีของเล่นให้เล่นน้อยไปหน่อย อันที่ขาดหายไปเลยก็คือ ฟังก์ชันที่เอาไงแอด tag

ถ้ามองในภาพรวมแล้วสำหรับ MarsEdit ก็ถือว่าใช้ได้พอสมควร เหมาะกับ User ที่ไม่ต้องการอะไรที่มากมายนอกจากพิมพ์อย่างเดียว simple interface แต่ที่สำคัญถ้าพูดถึงเรื่องราคา MarsEdit ถืงแม่ฟังก์ชันจะน้อยกว่าแต่ราคาก็แพงกว่า Ecto (เอ๊ะยังไงเนี้ย)

สำหรับ Ecto เวอร์ชัน demo ที่ลงบน leopard นี้ถือว่าไม่เลวเลยทีเดียว พูดได้ว่าเป็น Mac App กันทีเดียว ถือว่าสู้กับของทางฝั้ง window live ได้เลยทีเดียว แต่ว่ายังไม่มี function ที่เป็น live edit live preview เหมือนของวินโดว์

สรุปว่า MarsEdit ก้ออาจจะมาเป็นอันดับบ๋วยในตอนนี้ และผมให้ Ecto กับ Window Live เสมอกานคร้าบบ

All you had to do was click on the "Edit Accounts" up on the toolbar, which would make another window pop up:

 

For "Blogspot", open the "System" contextual menu, and select blogger, or whatever your site is:

 

ecto supports many types of blogging sites such as WordPress, Blogger, Blojsom, SquareSpace and more. ecto lets you create offline blog posts which I personally find helpful. That way you don't have to be online or signed on your blogging site to write that draft for your blog.

ecto also has more features available than any other blogging website. Some of these features includes spell check and creating links.

I find using ecto much better for writing my blogs and I recommend it for any serious blogger out there. With an easy-to-use interface and support for many kinds of weblog systems, the $17.95 is well worth the money.

I am on a trial version right now, but I will definitely buy this application once my trial runs out.

With the coming of the new graphical update, a lot has changed. Emotes look different, chat screens are slightly touched up and have more characteristics, Players look more detailed and lively. New shading, textures, and many other things have been added.
This new post will not be nearly as long as some of my others, but i will show you many screenshots I have taken in HD.

Our tour will start in lumbridge and go through al kharid, then to canifis, and back around to edgeville and then a special place ;D

Notice the Difference between light and dark, characters look more realistic than flat.

Large difference to the old Lumbridge, there is also a new npc in Lumbridge and you can now enter/exit Lumbridge from behind the castle.

Huge change in water scheme, it looks highly realistic and you can even see through it unlike the old water. If you ever notice the fountain in Varrock, you will see the water flowing from the spouts.

Water again, the water in al kharid in this particular spot has a sparkle to it, signifying the sun is shining or it is an oasis of some sort.

Land in HD is very different, you can see slopes and landforms with great ease now.
Also, as an added note, if you are passing through the shantay pass, there is now a "Quick Pass" Option very similar to the gate near lumbridge.

The difference between light and dark is VERY hard to notice now, everything is dark in the right places, this is a perfect example of how well light and dark combat on surfaces in the new detail.

Canifis's feeling is now well expressed in it's surroundings. Everything looks and feels dark and foreboding.

Look at the difference between the walkway and the the grass. Surfaces now blend together in a natural way instead of unnatural like before.

The ectofuntus looks MUCH more creepier now, and the enviornment around it helps support that.

This one amazed me. Even a large, irregular, man-made landform takes up this area, it blends in naturally with the environment around edgeville. Good Job on this one, Jagex, it worked well.

The abyss looks Extremely scary now, the creatures clawing at you as you run in the dark realm trying to find a way to where your altar is. The abyss doesn't have a major graphical improvement, but it still looks better.

And now, for the special treat. Even though it isn't very special.

The blood altar. This area looks more polished than it did before. Before, it looks somewhat pink instead of red and dark. The blood didn't flow very well as a liquid substance. Now it does.

첫 포스팅에서 잠깐 언급하였지만 ecto 를 사용해 wordpress.com 접속 방법을 몰라 구글신의 힘을 빌렸더니, 역시나 답이 있었다.

ecto의 설정에서 access point를 http://woosung.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php로하니 해결 !!

You Look Nice Today is one of my favorite new podcasts.  It's kind of interesting, because Merlin Mann, Scott Simpson, and Adam Lisagor manage to talk about nothing for 45 minutes to an hour a week.

Sorry for the short post, but I should have a follow up post to Bad Grammar after I was informed that I shouldn't be critiquing grammar.

I will try another angle to blog using Journler as my main application to put my thoughts and ecto to put on the blog. The process and cost is not great but Journler dropped its free version and no longer does direct publishing to blogging, so I am trying the two with each other as they suggest. We’ll see.

Finalmente no se que recomendarles para Linux o para Windows puesto que Ecto lo uso solo en mi mac portátil y escribo cuando me agarre la inspiración (que ma...mucho el sol).
