Sistema Financeiro dos EUA: o Melhor do Mundo!...segundo o World Economic Forum

E o segundo é o do Reino Unido!!!

Recursos - actualmente, as empresas e o mundo dos negócios em geral são a maior fonte de recursos mobilizáveis para a resolução dos problemas de forma eficaz, a larga distância do Estado, das ONG's ou das organizações religiosas;

Enjoy it ;-)

WC: machnmal geruchsneutral. Kochen: eng. Stimmung: nach zeitweiligem Packkater gut. Kamera: was lange währt...

Dopo aver servito i suoi padro

Niat ingsun mau menuju bandara Soeta (Soekarno - Hatta) naik taksi lalu meninggal tidur sopirnya. Ma

Niat ingsun mau menuju bandara Soeta (Soekarno - Hatta) naik taksi lalu meninggal tidur sopirnya. Taksi pun melaju lancar.

Gimana nih? Mau minta berhenti lalu ganti taksi di tengah jalan tol kok ya gimana gitu loh.....

Maka saya putuskan untuk mengajak ngobrol sopirnya. Itulah yang kemudian saya lakukan.

"Pak...", panggil saya memecah keheningan (sebenarnya ya tidak hening, wong deru kendaraannya cukup bising). "Bapak kelihatannya capek sekali...", kata saya.

"Iya pak, saya agak kurang tidur", jawab pak sopir. "Kurang tidur kok agak.

Tapi kalau sedang membawa penumpang rasanya sering sekali ngantuk".

Rasa pedasnya sangat nyegrak, sehingga sering membuat pengulumnya rada megap-megap.

(Aha... Ini dia. Tips baru untuk menghilangkan ngantuk, yaitu berusahalah untuk melupakan ngantuknya. Cuma cilakaknya, cara termudah untuk melupakan ngantuk, ya tidur..... Huh...!).

Pertama, tentang membangunkan sopir ngantuk. Kedua, tentang "menjinakkan" orang tua agar suka diajak bicara (tidak semua orang tua suka diajak cerita-cerita, lho.....)..

Untuk yang pertama, siapkanlah permen pedas. Semakin pedas semakin baik, asal bukan permen rasa sambal....

[ Empower the poor ].

Prahalad, autor do livro: The Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid.

If Henry ford would have been alive today, much to every one's dismay or rather tumultous state of affairs, Henry Ford would have proudly proclaimed that you can have any colour as long its electric, and its happening, the vice president of SAP by name Shai Agassi, has launched a company in October 2007 called Project Better Place, an initiative which he started out of his own interest to contribute towards the global warming. He in association with the Isreali government are trying to launch an exchangeble battery program, which would be in association with Renault and Project Better Place. The whole concept would be like a pre-paid mobile chanring point, where the same concept would be applied to electric cars. It works like somewhat like this, take an instance that in a month X would talk for 300 bucks, so the pre-paid that the person would buy would be 300 bucks and an additional in case of emergencies, now apply this same concept to the rechargeble batteries of cars, if X wanted to drive 400 miles, the recharge would be available for 400 bucks. This is funded by Monthy miles which would be minutes for the telecom operator, Thomas Friedman also in his NYT article, mentions the same approach which would be to lay effective infrastructure, and have national recharging networks and facilities, This has also been talked in Davos Extensively about the infrastructure for the Electric car which the Isreali government wants to mass produce just similat to the mass production of the black model T.

Here are the video's to the Davos Infrastructure

Have a look at the video - Shai Agassi - Revolutionizing the Eectic Car

I wish this idea take out big time for tax incentives and a vision to eliminate gasoline transportation, The infrastructure should be powered by Open Source or Gnutella Networks as i personally feel Open Source will bring in more innovation and personalization which would bring participation.

A bon entendeur salut

A bientôt

There are billions of people who need the great inventions of the computer age, and many more basic needs as well. But they have no way of expressing their needs in ways that matter to markets. So they go without.
If we are going to have a serious chance of changing their lives, we will need another level of innovation. Not just technology innovation—we need system innovation.

We write to taste life twice, in the moment, and in retrospection. We write, like Proust, to render all of it eternal, and to persuade ourselves that it is eternal. We write to be able to transcend our life, to reach beyond it.
-Anaïs Nin, entry for February 1954, in The Diary of Anaïs Nin

As little as five years from now, a sprawling township will spread across the Mose valley. Hindustan Construction Corporation (HCC) -- that has a 60 per cent stake holding in the Lavasa project with the LM Thapar group, Venkateshwara Hatcheries and private investors for company -- believes that by then there will be 100,000 primary inhabitants and a floating population of a million. Their vision is of a self-sufficient hill town. The likeness, if all goes to plan, will be to Davos. Nearly 12,500 acres of high valley land, contracted by Lavasa, circling most of the 20-km dammed Varasgaon lake, is in the throes of massive infrastructure building. The approach highway is the first sign, leading up to a network of arterial and trunk roads. For now, all roads lead to three hotels that are under construction, with a total room size of 560. To be managed by the Novotel, Starwood and ITC chains, they will be the first to see completion later this year. An 18-hole golf course is being laid out, a club house planned and, eventually, shopping centres.

The star attraction at Lavasa is the waterfront; all development springs around it. According to locals, however, Varasgaon lake actually all but dries up in the months leading up to the monsoon. That problem has been addressed. HCC, with their strength in infrastructure, has built a mini dam that has created a reservoir holding of 1.8 million cubic metres of water. Eighteen such dams and check dams will ensure year-round lake views. Dasve's architectural style is derived from the fashionable resort town of Portofino (Italy) and its pastel-coloured coastal residences, Damanhole in Phase 2 will sport a Western Ghat vernacular style.

A Hill Station encapsulated inside the mystic Sahyadri ranges provides a perfect setting for a getaway for many a travelers and tourists. The maddening pace of city life, the endless traffic jams, and the stifling work cubicle…is all conveniently forgotten at Lavasa wherein different kinds of leisure and recreation activities provide a refreshing escape from the metropolis. Lavasa offers exciting diversions such as star-gazing, boating, treks & relaxing. There are also cinemas, theatres, parks and meditation centers planned over the next decade. Setting new benchmarks in construction, planning and service delivery Lavasa offers its residents a level of town infrastructure hitherto, unknown in India. The high quality roads to Lavasa would provide total connectivity to its residents and visitors. Lavasa is approached by various routes. World-class road from the Chandni Chowk (Pune) to Lavasa makes traveling speedy and comfortable. I have christened the road from Pirangut to Lavasa as the Lavabahn (Autobahn - (German: IPA: [ˈaʊtoːbaːn], plural Autobahnen; English) is the German word for a major high-speed road restricted to motor vehicles capable of driving at least 60 km/h (37 mph) and having full control of access, similar to a motorway or freeway in English-speaking countries.).This road was laid out three years ago & has weathered 4 Western Ghat Monsoons with not a pot-hole along its length. this actually tells you the whole story about corruption and Mumbai Municipal Corporation Road Contractors!). Along the Autobahn, the drivers can stop at rest areas for fuel, food and beverages. In Germany, they are called Raststätte(n), while in Austria they are known as Raststation(en). These rest areas have restaurants serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurants may legally serve alcoholic beverages. Many of the rest stops also have motels. In Germany, the rest areas were operated by a government-owned company until 1998, when it was privatised. On our Lavabahn you get excellent Masala Chai with Jaggery (Instead of Sugar) at small village rest areas selling Chaha! Just before you leave urbanization, there are numerous small & medium sized hotels & restaurants selling Bata-Wada & Masala-Chai.

The best Cloudscapes on the Lavabahn are seen between 9am and 11am and then again 5pm and 7pm in the monsoons. The color of a cloud tells much about what is going on inside the cloud. Clouds form when relatively warm air containing water vapor is lighter than its surrounding air and this causes it to rise. As it rises it cools and the vapor condenses out of the air as micro-droplets. These tiny particles of water are relatively densely packed and sunlight cannot penetrate far into the cloud before it is reflected out, giving a cloud its characteristic white color. As a cloud matures, the droplets may combine to produce larger droplets, which may combine to form droplets large enough to fall as rain. In this process of accumulation, the space between droplets becomes larger and larger, permitting light to penetrate much farther into the cloud. If the cloud is sufficiently large and the droplets within are spaced far enough apart, it may be that a percentage of the light which enters the cloud is not reflected back out before it is absorbed (Think of how much farther one can see in a heavy rain as opposed to how far one can see in a heavy fog). This process of reflection/absorption is what leads to the range of cloud color from white through grey through black. For the same reason, the undersides of large clouds and heavy overcasts appear various degrees of grey; little light is being reflected or transmitted back to the observer. Other colours occur naturally in clouds. Bluish-grey is the result of light scattering within the cloud. A greenish tinge to a cloud is produced when sunlight is scattered by ice. A cumulonimbus cloud which shows green is an imminent sign of heavy rain, hail, strong winds and possible tornadoes. Red, orange and pink clouds occur almost entirely at sunrise/sunset and are the result of the scattering of sunlight by the atmosphere. The clouds are not that color; they are reflecting the long (and unscattered) rays of sunlight which are predominant at those hours. The effect is much the same as if one were to shine a red spotlight on a white sheet. In combination with large, mature thunderheads this can produce blood-red clouds. The sky is a veritable canvas at Lavasa. Ekaant is the place for cloud-gazing & the best cloudscapes from Ekaant are visible at Dawn/Dusk.

Saturday morning I was woken up with the whiff of fresh "Bhuttas" wafting into the clouds entering my bedroom at Ekaant. I was wondering at the odd sense of timing of roasting Bhuttas & then heard the pitter-patter of kid's feet. On looking out of the Balcony, saw over a dozen kids being chased by a Yogi Bear. This was my first introduction to children's voices & laughter at Ekaant. The kids were having a blast. Yogi Bear was a big hit & now was being chased by the tots into the Ekaant lobby. The parents were getting them to pose with Yogi Bear for their proud vacation snaps. Lavasa had something for all ages.

Had got up late & decided on an early Lunch. I was the first resident to come in for lunch into the multi-cuisine restaurant. I was greeted by the new F & B manager Mr Pant who requested for ten minutes before the buffet would be served. we got talking and incidentally he had set-up one my my favorite watering-holes at the Radisson, Jalandhar in 1999. Since I work 5 days a month at Jalandhar since 1999, someone talking about Jack-Daniel's got me hooked! Jack Daniel's is the finest pub one can find in North India at one of the most unlikeliest of towns-Jalandhar. I was amazed at the buffet layout- there was an artichoke salad, a tandoori-chicken salad, deicious prawn-curry at 2500 feet above sea level topped off with hot Kheer-Sevian. As I was finishing my Lunch, the gang of kids accompanied by a large tourist group descended on the Restaurant. I decided to leave behind the fun and frolic & laughter and take a walk around the Lake. The Dasve Lake which is designed to provide sporting and recreational facilities is enhanced by a 2.4 kms promenade which once completed, will form part of the retail and entertainment hub at Lavasa. With arbours, pedestrian bridges, shopping enclaves and dining areas, this will be the heart of Dasve. I was back to where I belonged - the time of the day not-withstanding. This was bliss.

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves."
-John Muir (1838-1914)

Whenever India celebrates Independence day, the first song that plays all over the radios and televisions will be that of Rahman's Vande Mataram. Talking about Vande Mataram, two people redefined the sound of patriotism. And the names we thank is Bharath Bala and A R Rahman. Hardly, when the new generation of Indians seems to forget the great lines of Rabindranath Tagore, it was Bharath Bala who felt that it must not happen. So he brought up the idea and Rahman gave complete justice to it.

Bharath Bala shares his experience with Rahman on Vande mataram for an exclusive interview for a leading news portal.

A R Rahman and Vande Mataram : Rahman is my schoolmate and a friend. We have worked together in over more than a hundred commercials. When the idea of Vande Mataram came to me, I created a CD cover with the tricolour and presented it to him. I said to him, "This is your first music album." Till that time he was scoring music only for feature films.

It was an enormous challenge for both of us. We then embarked on a journey to discover India and ourselves. It took six months of traveling before he wrote Maa Tujje Salam. The effort was to create something which we would be proud of even after five or 10 years. We turned out to be right.
I was in a different spirit all the time. It was magical and there was a certain madness when we held on to an idea and believed in it no matter what. We never thought about the result.

The beauty of Vande Mataram was the feeling I got when I heard it for the very first time, and then again after 10 years. The feeling remained the same, and I think it did for a lot of Indians too.

My father saw Vande Mataram before he passed away. I am sure he would have been very proud of it. After we did Maa Tuje Salam, India Today told my father that though the song starts with Maa, it should have been Appa Tuje Salam because it was he who influenced me to make that song.

Rahman and I do very little work but the work we did would probably live forever.

Making Jana Gana Mana

It was Kanaka, my wife, partner and co-director who said we should do Jana Gana Mana next. The idea inspired us to create anthems with the greatest maestros and the young contemporaries so that it became a part of India.

So, we brought in singers both young and old like D K Pattammal, Bhimsen Joshi, Lata Mangeshkar, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Balamurali Krishna, Hariharan and Rahman to sing Jana Gana Mana. I think it was an inspiring journey for all the talents involved. The beauty of the idea is so big that it brought people together. And we were the catalyst.

Today, we have done 35 renditions of Jana Gana Mana, 20 films and still it continues...

Today, 600 theatres across the country play the anthem before every movie. I have even seen people singing along.
It has been ten years since we did Vande Mataram. Today, it has become a benchmark for schools to choreograph patriotic songs. It has also become cool to say Vande Mataram today! That is the best compliment we have received.

The Incredible India campaign

We don't push ourselves to think of a patriotic idea. It's not a marketing strategy.

We have been doing the Incredible India campaign for the last three years. The campaign has won numerous awards in many countries. At the Davos economic forum, we have done a film showcasing India as an emerging country.
I feel every Indian is patriotic; we only have to evoke emotionally. I am proud that my name is associated with something truly Indian.

A friend of mine sent me an email entitled Four Major Transformations by Herb Meyer. The email said the paper was presented at Davos. I cannot confirm that this is by Herb Meyer or that the contents of the argument are accurate, but I found a copy of the email I received here. I assume that the details of Herb's paper are accurate, but even if they aren't I think the point of this post is still applicable.

Here is a snippet of the paper that I would like to discuss:

The Emergence of China

In the last 20 years, China has moved 250 million people from the farms and villages into the cities. Their plan is to move another 300 million in the next 20 years. When you put that many people into the cities, you have to find work for them. That's why China is addicted to manufacturing; they have to put all the relocated people to work. When we decide to manufacture something in the U.S. it's based on market needs and the opportunity to make a profit. In China, they make the decision because they want the jobs, which is a very different calculation.

While China is addicted to manufacturing, Americans are addicted to low prices. As a result, a unique kind of economic codependency has developed between the two countries. If we ever stop buying from China, they will explode politically. If China stops selling to us, our economy will take a huge hit because prices will jump. We are subsidizing their economic development; they are subsidizing our economic growth.

The capacity model and enterprise sales.

Enterprise sales professionals frequently use a revenue prediction and management tool called the capacity model. The capacity model assumes infinite demand. So rather than building a bottoms-up demand model, the capacity model simply focuses on the supply side of the equation -- the number of quota carrying sales representatives. Assume that each sales rep can sell x million of product per year. Assume that you need y number of people supporting each rep. Assume that each rep attains 25% percent of her quota during the first quarter, 50% percent during the second full quarter, and 100% by her third quarter on the job. It's a bit more complicated than this, but not much. And it works really well... until demand becomes an issue (e.g., competition, market maturity, recession). Then management often assumes that sales leadership needs to be replaced due to "bad execution" when the reality is that it may be time to change the overall corporate strategy (enter new markets, change pricing model, exit market, use M&A to consolidate market). It's really hard to predict demand, so most large companies rely on some type of supply driven model far too long.

China and the capacity model.

China is pursuing the capacity model writ large. And as long as supply outstrips demand, it will work. But at some point the combination of a doubling of Chinese labor working on manufacturing (increasing supply), the large number of people moving into manufacturing from India and Eastern Europe (increasing supply), increases in productivity (increasing supply), and the certainty of a global economic downturn at some point in the future (lowering demand) will lead to a collapse in the prices of manufactured things.

There are other constraints that may temporarily slow things down -- the availability of energy and other non-labor inputs required for manufacturing could act as a short or medium term throttle on supply. But these issues will be resolved. And then what happens? Economic theory argues that, in an efficient market, prices will drop to near marginal cost. We know that the marginal cost of bits is near zero and that pricing for many of those things is FREE. But what happens when the marginal cost of atoms approaches zero?

Razor and blades.

Might the cost of many manufactured things get close to zero? Is FREE the future of bits and atoms [I haven't read Chris Anderson's new book -- perhaps he has the answer]? Don't roll your eyes, it's possible. We may see the razor and blades business model much more frequently in the future.

It is already happening:

+ Free atoms can increase barriers to entry, allowing providers to charge for services. For example, the recent move by Apple to allow carriers to subsidize their phone was a brilliant move by the carriers to keep those consumers addicted to the crack of "cheap" phones. And they already do offer some phones for "free" with an agreement to use their services for 1 or 2 years.

+ Cable vendors use this model with set-top boxes and cable service. TiVO makes a better product, but why buy when you get a DVR for free?

But these cases are examples where average revenue per user (ARPU) is extremely high. With the marginal cost of manufactured products dropping dramatically, service providers will be able to offer free products based on much lower ARPU.

What's next?

+ Free computers, pay for data plans?

+ Free cars, pay for the gas ;-)

What can you give away for free and then make money on the services?

The World Economic Forum’s regional meetings used to have names such as The Middle East Economic Summit. The one in Sharm El Sheikh last month, which I half-attended, used a formula which they first adopted a few years ago. It was “The World Economic Forum on the Middle East”.

Illogical name. The WEF isn’t an event. It’s an institution. One wasn’t even supposed to call Davos “Davos” in the old days. It was the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting. The institution was all. The WEF isn’t pronouncing on anything either, in case anyone took the “on” that way.

There are now three middle easts.

A) Iran, Syria, their non-state allies, Hamas and Hezbollah, and their ideological allies on the street.

B) Israel and the two countries that have made peace with it, Jordan and Egypt: non-oil economies.

C) The Sunni oil economies of the Gulf.

Iraq is poised between all three. Lebanon, a half-colony of A), is torn several ways. The WEF has always pitched its regional tent in B), though all sides are welcome at Davos. I wish it would move away from the second-class resort of Sharm El Sheikh (an Israeli creation, between 1967 and ’82) to a place where large numbers of people struggle and work, but the Egyptian government built a congress centre there for them and it looks set to alternate between there and the Jordanian Dead Sea. But it could go to one of the boom towns. Or into the eye of the storm. It’s in the wrong place. Or perhaps that middle ground is where it has to be.

The Sharm meeting was sometimes impressive. The programme was focussed, but one could wish for the return of some of the Forum’s homelier touches. Bush’s speech made no impression. The Iraqi cabinet did make an impression. Many of the participants reminded one why the Forum is still the non-pareil organiser of such meetings. One or two had one thinking viscerally, with EM Forster’s Maurice, “how unfit they were to set standards or control the future”.

A lot of friends have asked me what do I think about the chinese restaurants here in Switzerland. My genuine feeling is that they are not authentic enough and the interior decoration of the restaurants are usually rather old-fashioned with a lot of red and dragon pillars. I am sorry to be so critical but these styles almost do not exist in Hong Kong or even Shanghai anymore. One thing I don't understand why the Japanese restaurants here can be comtemporary but why not the chinese restaurants too. Having said that, I did come across a very nice Chinese restaurant in Davos, the best I have been here in Switzerland. I was so impressed with the interior design and the food was delicious. To be honest, we did not specifically intended to have chinese food that day, I was just curious with the large windows and lights inside and went upstair to check out. I was surprised to find out it's a chinese restaurant as the name ZAUBERBERG does not look chinese at all. Later during the dinner, I discovered that the female boss is also from Hong Kong but she has moved to Holland for over 14 years and then moved to Davos. to start her own restaurant. I said to her that I like the setting of the restaurant very much and she told me that it was designed by her friend who is a HK designer. Then I thought 'no wonder' it made me feeling as if I was in HK.
