Meg Gemma Arterton is, de ez kit érdekel?

A koncepció szerint ezúttal egy bosszúra szomjazó, megkeseredett Bond néz majd farkasszemet a gengszterekkel és a csőlátó Bond-fanokkal, remélhetőleg ez az akciók keménységén is érződik, "no mercy" elvet a népnek. Novemberben tehát meglátjuk majd, hogy mi történik rögtön a Casino Royale utolsó jelenete után, hogy Bondnak mi dolga lesz majd Bolíviában, Ausztriában, és Dél-Amerikában, és hogy Mathieu Amalric vajon elég kickass lesz-e ahhoz, hogy legalább megsebezze Bondot, mielőtt az elejt egy ötcsillagos beszólást az akcentusára, és egy olyan helyre küldi, amit az olyan emberek érdemelnének, akik az A Quantum csendje címet adták ennek a mozinak.

This was another trailer we saw this weekend... and I have to say, it got me pretty excited, especially when I found out it's directed by Marc Forster, the same guy that did Stay [see below for review]. The next Bond installment, Quantum of Solace looks even more dark and gritty than the last, with revenge being the main thing driving Bond this time, as he sets out to avenge the death of his love, Vesper. Simultaneously he is also trying to stop an environmentalist who tries to take over a country's water supply... 

One of the Bond girls is Olga Kurylenk whom you might recognize as the Russian hottie from Hitman. And our beloved Aston Martin returns in the form of the DBS. Meow...

The blond James Bond is back with no Moneypenny again, no Q to speak of, no over-the-top overuse of gadgets and with an actual continuum in the franchise with a sequel to the previous film, CASINO ROYALE.

The new trailer of QUANTUM OF SOLACE was released the other day, as the 22^nd film that is about to be added for the franchise this november, and one can’t help to feel that something is different in this generation’s James Bond of Daniel Craig and co.

In order to get some of the different aspects, one will find quite a bit of symbolism in the details of how Craig’s James Bond is used in these films and how he contrasts with the previous Bonds. For instance how in the previous film the constant image of a bleeding Bond was presented over and over for the audience in order to withhold the vulnerability of his, against the previous undying traditionalism, and gain a dose of realism for the character. Gone are the action sequences where Bond remains untouchable, with a perfect tie and hair, and vanished is the technological-excuse for him to be the large-than-life agent. Craig’s James Bond is a rough and tough agent that is emotionally resonant – which is usually absent in Bond films, or is failed when attempted – and one that thrives on humanity and the scars he gains through the course of the character's development.

It is to no surprise that this Bond is being successful once again in consequence of this new spirit. A marketing that premises a bloody Bond or with an unbuttoned jacket and a gun in the air up a high -- indeed, the natural human elements that Ian Fleming’s Bond was originated from are at last being seen again on Craig's characterization.  

And of course, who could forget the memorable line of not caring about his martini on CASINO ROYALE. A line that’s able to humorous and fresh with an underlying emotional anger that had fanboys in a stir because, you know, no one can mess with the character’s martini thing (though it should be mentioned for the people that felt it was, somehow, a bastardization of that aspect of the character, that earlier in the film he orders a specific recipe about his traditional martini, as the people around the table order one as well with impressed looks).

But it is part of this unconventional wisdom of the new Bond, that the question of how much longentivity does the character has in him appears and to what point could the character be stretched after Craig is gone. We've seen a different group of generational James Bond's since the 60's, however indentical their formula in their films has been. A good part of the source material has been covered, or otherwise modified, mixed and re-interpreted in the films adapted. And it is to no surprise that a James Bond that might feel as a reinvention against the previous formulatic films would appear for the public by the time the 22nd film is about to come out, considering new artists will be forced to be innovative with a new take, which makes the question linger: For how long is James Bond going to be around?

A good three films could be thought of in the awakeners of the character from Daniel Craig as Fleming's spirit is carried through, yet admittedly, even if the spirit is true, the work of Fleming himself is absent, or would otherwise be redundant and repetitive with past films if inserted again and again. The new dilemma of anxiety of adaptation is originated, and we're left with the problematic world of fanboys and their pessimism to the new and creativeness of the artist that is coming with an adaptation, but a reinvention at the same time.

Comic-book aficionados might be aware and have more experienced on the subject by the simple matter that, for their characters to pass the test of time, they are to be recreated over and over in order to live through the test of time – James Bond, evidently, will have to face the same road if he were to live another day.

But is even in this version of Bond, a more realistic, straight-forward take not seen in the franchise -- Dalton's LISCENSE TO KILL and Connery's FROM RUSSIA, WITH LOVE aside -- that certain fans have even been judging it as a copy of the Bourne franchise, and not the Fleming character. It is in this boundery that Bond's longevity is at risk: the point of not breaking the established traditionalism in the fans eyes (or some of them -- the fundamentalists), but trying to be inventive with each film by breaking the conventions.

Arguably, the character still can explore new grounds, from more tonally grounded adventures, to ones that are able to touch upon different parts of an agent’s times historically. And in director Marc Foster’s new film this year, there’s already talk that the film carries itself as a film that is reflective of the current times, which is an advantage the character should contain in these controversial political dilemmas, just as he did under Fleming and the Cold War in his origin.  

Whether the character and the fundamentalists of him will welcome a different James Bond and avoid a Daniel-Craig-controversy again is an obscure prediction, however, if elements were to be modified for a certain renovation in various aspects, just as writer Paul Haggis is doing with avoiding the formulatic Q and Moneypenny scenes. One might say that the Bond films should merely end with Craig’s departure, or near it, if only to avoid stretching the character out of the creator’s original imagination, and give the benefit of the doubt to the fundamentalists fans. But that, however, is a matter that might be unlikely, considering the franchise is making more money than ever and, truth be told, the fans will always demand the character back, just as Indiana Jones, Star Wars and others have come back years later.

As long as the franchise has endured, the redundancy of it has been the Achilles-heel of it, and the current team is seemingly aware of that problematic factor. Will future films thrive on more unconventional elements and be more creative with new material, or will the franchise meet a return to the previous generic formula, in fear of not breaking from the traditionalism? Time will tell.

Quantum is defined as "one's share or portion"....from the latin quantum meaning "how much"...Appropriate, Very Appropriate.

The Invasion

The Invasion is the third remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and they should have left well enough alone. I had heard of utterly scathing reviews of this movie but like most things I like to find out for myself there are some things that are rated as awful that I can find at least entertaining- this however wasn't one of them. The movie starts showing the space shuttle 'Patriot' exploding and crashing back to earth and in an especially distasteful scene actual footage of the real space shuttle Colombia breaking up over Texas was used. I'm not sure if it was meant to be a case of 'this movie could happen in real life' (god help us if they believe that) or just trying to cut some costs and corners. From there things begin to horribly wrong for all concerned. I won't give away too much of the plot but our heroine Nicole Kidman was cast brilliantly as someone who had to hide their emotions and act blank faced... it's pretty much all she has ever done in any movie with the exception of BMX Bandits of course. I realise that it is un-Australian of me to hate on 'Our Nic' but I just can't stand her or the hype that surrounds her in this country.

Anyway enough complaining about Nicole or I'd be here all day. The movie is moved along by some very clunky plot devices such as the head scientist of the CDC becoming the lead 'alien' as well as being Carrol Bennel's (Kidman) ex-husband with of course their son being immune to the effects of the 'aliens'. Daniel Craig is a doctor who comes up with simply amazing ideas to combat the aliens and of course he plays the love interest but it seems he is little more than eye candy for the most part.

The effects are okay but nothing exceptional however and the chase scenes have all been done before so even they couldn't save this terribad movie. Still it isn't the worst movie I have had to endure in recent months I'm just in no rush to see it again.

Hitman (Uncut)

Hitman is based on Eidos' game of the same name which I have never played so I didn't really have any preconceived ideas about the movie and what it should or shouldn't have entailed. After experiencing the horrible take on Id's Doom I've always been a little shy of movies based on other media (don't get me started on Marvel movies) but I was somewhat surprised by this movie. Sure there massive plot holes and moments of unbelievability but it's an action movie and it doesn't try to be anything else. It is just senseless, bloody violence. Admittedly there is a plot to the movie but again it seems to be the standard 'hired to kill someone, that goes wrong, get targeted yourself, meet girl, find yourself, kill bad guys, ride off into the sunset' kind of thing. It is given a slight twist with some added cat and mouse kind of chasing from an Interpol Agent who does seem to be very much like our Hitman just working for the other side of the law.

Still in it's favour the movie wasn't offensive (it is quite graphic however) Timothy Olyphant played Agent 47 (the hitman) quite well and unlike Nic in the The Invasion you could believe his lack of emotional state, there seemed to be an added brooding to his character that was handled really well. The love interest was the rather fetching Olga Kurylenko who tends to be in various states of nakedness for most of this movie so that isn't a bad thing really! I'm not going to say she was a great actress and worthy of being nominated for numerous awards but she isn't a bad actress either and you could almost believe her.. not quite mind you but almost. I really enjoyed this movie for what it was - just a lot of good fun.

3:10 to Yuma

Right.. the 'heavy' movie to end with. What can I say... I loved this movie despite it having Russell Crowe (who I dislike more for his off-screen behaviour than as an actor) in it, it was an excellent movie. Again this movie is a remake but I have never seen the original so I can't compare the two and honestly I think that this version is good enough to stand on it's own. The movie is heavily character driven and the majority of the actors within it are acted with depth and with feeling and most importantly believable in their flaws and their strengths.

The movie plays as somewhat of a psychological thriller and questions the character's motives a great deal it is very much a case of walking a mile in another man's shoes and seeing if you would be the same man at the end of it. Christian Bale plays Dan Evans a down on his luck farmer struggling to keep his family and his farm viable. He is quite possibly the most flawed of all the characters within the movie as Crowe's character of Ben Wade makes no apologies for what he is but it is the character of Evans who has to go through the most growth throughout the movie (admittedly the movie is only a few days long) and the one who has to examine his motives the most.

I can't really fault this movie at all I enjoyed it and that is main thing - I'd even go so far as to recommend it to others to watch.

The Day the Earth Stood Still

This is the best role for Keanu Reeves ever devised. He can keep his monotone emotionless acting and it will actually work out! I don't actually hate the guy since I really liked the Matrix and Constantine was pretty awesome as well, he is just not the best actor at all. The film looks pretty awesome, good action and decent sounding story. It also costars Jennifer Connolly who is pretty awesome.

Speaking of Connolly, Dark City director Alex Proya is back with his newest Sci-Fi film and it looks pretty good. Nowhere near Dark City levels but entertaining for sure. Nic Cage is so hit or miss lately and when it's a miss it's pretty horrible so I'm skeptical but the concept sounds interesting so I'll say for know that I will see it when it comes out.

Quantum of Solace

I don't really have much to say here except this trailer is amazing. Bond is in intense violent revenge mode and it is awesome. The action is crazy looking, the whole being tracked by MI6 has been done but still sounds cool and the two Bond Girls are amazing so there is no way I won't be seeing this when it hits theaters.

I hate horror, and the overly gory type is one of my least favorite genres of film. There is basically no chance that I will end up watching this movie. I realize that many people will not share my same point of view so for them this might look very cool. It also stars Keifer Sutherland who is a pretty decent actor (and subsequently also from the film Dark City).

Yeah yeah, I've been slacking. Little to no updates here recently has really gotten me down, but I just haven't been watching that many movies. In fact, I haven't watched anything of significance since The Happening. Never fear, though!

For the time being, you'll have to settle with being satisfied with a glimpse at the new 007 feature Quantum of Solace. Due out in November of 2008, as the poster says, this next Bond film stars Daniel Craig and is directed by Marc Forster of The Kite Runner, Finding Neverland, and Monster's Ball. It should be interesting to see his take on our favourite spy. After the trailer, you'll find a hot shot of Olga Kurylenko, the next Bond girl. You probably remember her from Hitman, but I remember her from my dreams. Wow.

Am asteptat ca pe nu stiu ce trailer-ul de la “Quantum of Solace”. Bond-ul nou. Eu nu am putut sa fiu mare fana de Bond-uri pentru ca nu mi-au placut actorii. Ma refer la cei care-l joaca pe James Bond. Imi place la nebunie personajul, imi plac la nebunie gadget-urile lui, imi place umorul lui, imi place tot ce este el, mai ales faptul ca este un orfan cu sufletul facut praf dar jucand tare, fiind dur. Actorii:  Sean Connery mi se pare groaznic ca barbat si nici pe partea cu valorile nevazute nu pot sa o iau in ceea ce-l priveste pentru ca si-a batut nevasta ani de-a randul, a fost mare scandal in toata presa straina, dupa ce ea a facut publica treaba. El nici macar nu a zis ca regreta, a zis ca uneori femeile pot deveni foarte enervante. Sunt de acord cu asta dar eu nu dau in ele. Nu, nu sunt omul care sa reuseasca sa fie fidel principiului “nu conteaza ce face un actor in viata particulara”. Timothy Dalton, mare actor de teatru, era stingher in Bond, George Lazenby era penibil si juca prost, Roger Moore avea sexappeal-ul unei coperti de caiet si juca prost, Pierce Brosnan avea buzele prea subtiri si nu avea testicule, ca sa o spun frumos. The new James Bond film Quantum of Solace (I guess Ounce of Comfort doesn't quite have the same ring) has a teaser trailer, and it gives me an excuse to post a piece I did for the Current back when Casino Royale came out — it accompanied an article that reviewed every single Bond theme, from good to Cornell. I don't think it's online, or I'd link to it. It's pretty fun.

As for Quantum, it looks at least as good as Casino was — but I still can't shake the feeling that all they're doing is a glossier, slightly dumber version of the Bourne movies. (Watch Judi Dench in the trailer below — it almost sounds like she says "Find Bourne" instead of "Find Bond.") But I like the new direction the Bond movies are going in, and they still boast the most, um, talented actresses working today. Seriously, James Bond had Eva Green. Jason Bourne got to hang out with ... Joan Allen. Well played, old chap!

Growing up I was never a fan of the James Bond movies.

But after I hit puberty, came out and the movie studio was brilliant enough to cast hottie Daniel Craig, I was on board!

Who can forget that sexy shot of Mr. Bond coming out of the ocean in Casino Royale? That was enough for me to pay $9 for the other 110 minutes or so...

Anyway, the new movie is coming out Nov. 7 and here's the first trailer featuring a shirtless Bond!

Apparently Brett Farve is "seriously" considering coming out of retirement for one last season.  I've always appreciated the man's obvious "love of the game", but this is getting a bit ridiculous.  I'm not completely surprised by this, but the man needs to make up his mind.  How many more farewell games, montages, and tributes are we going to have to sit through before the guy actually retires?  Something tells me I'm not going to have enough beer.  I want to love you, Brett.  Don't make me hate you like Tom Brady.  Now go away.

I'm sure everyone (or no one) remembers my rant against iPhones.  Here I am, weeks later, seriously contemplating buying a Macbook in a couple of months.  I feel so cheap.  So used.  What is wrong with me?  I mean, I know Apple products are the technology equivalent of cocaine, but I should be above this.  They're just so damned pretty.  I walk by Apple stores and feel the draw of it.   "You know you want to come in here, Liz.  You want to touch us and take note of our sleek design, which appeals to your anal retentive nature."

I have my concerns, though.  First of all, is the fan going to be an issue?  I don't want to spend $1300 on an overheating white plastic paperweight.  Plus, the mouse only has one button.  No right clicking.    It's just so... not a PC!  I'm nervous about a transition like that.  I fear change.

I'm still not buying an iPhone, though.  You can't make me!  It's ugly, smudgy, and not my Blackberry.

It amazes me how much of a stir Daniel Craig caused when he was cast as the new James Bond.  Did they not realize that Ian Fleming's James Bond (he's the author of the original stories) was a blond, had somewhat blunt features, and while he was debonair in a way, he was a bit of a brute?  James Bond was made an icon by Sean Connery, but Daniel Craig is actually more true to form.  He is James Bond.

I've spent the last two hours Googling my BFF Eva and my husband Daniel Craig (and watching the new Bond trailer over and over, silently gloating over the fact I'm way hotter than the new Bond girl even though it's not very women friendly of me to have those thoughts and God if you are listening to me, I apologize. Oh, and silently weeping over the fact Danny is not nearly as big as he was in Casino Royale. I apologize for that. I've kept him rather busy).

And now? I'm going to sleep. Send some good thoughts my way, huh? I'm going to need them to finish this book.

Oh, and Nov 7th, you know where my ass is going to be? At the IMAX theater to watch Danny on the big screen. It will take every ounce of self control to keep from licking the screen every time Danny graces it. I'm more than comfortable doing it in my own home*, but people might frown on it if I do it in public.

*I seriously don't do that. Or do I? You probably already know the answer. And you will not shun me for it. And that's why I ♥ you all

Bond beds the 22-year-old actress, last seen stripping off in Three and Out, in a raunchy scene in Quantum of Solace.

Gemma has previously hinted that 007, played by Daniel for the second time, will wed her character Agent Field, in the movie.

On a US chat show she revealed that the pair had been filming scenes in a honeymoon suite, then added: "I think I've said too much."

Quantum of Solace, the 22nd in the Bond series,

sees 007 battling wth his rage and desperate for revenge over the death of Vesper in Casino Royale.

His mission leads him to Haiti, where he meets Bond girls Gemma and OLGA KURYLENKO,as well as ruthless businessman Maurice Green, played by MATHIEU AMALRIC.

Gemma's Bond girl credentials are plain to see but will it be she or Olga who gets the guy in the end?
