After spending time in searching and then bookmarking them too, it was not an easy proposition. After all, how many stations, of  interest, can one save as bookmarks?  Similarly I was interested in online news.. You may wonder, why everything online ? Because, over internet we have several options, and variety. But I had a different thing going in my mind, whatever I had bookmarked on my computer, I wanted them to access on some other computer(s) ! I could save the bookmarks on my laptop too, but that is easiest thing to do, but it binds me to my laptop. Wherever I go, I had to take my laptop. It is not so good thing to carry a laptop everywhere. I, then came up with an idea, why not put all the links of the bookmarked items, on a single page. I created one page on Front page and typed all the links in there. It was a simplest page. All I could do was, access that page from my email, download it wherever I m and access my links. But that was not interesting to me. I thought why not put this page on a website. Then I can access that link and do my work. I did the same. The next day, I could access my page over internet, and do my work from anywhere. Anything related with my work, could be accessed through a simple HTML page on web. But being from a technical background, I observed that the HTML site which I created was too simple, and to me it was not at all evoking any interest. I wanted to add color to it.

Over next phase,  I came out with a better looking page, with music links, newslinks, dictionaries and miscellaneous links. Now, the site was online for others too. But it was not so interesting. Was too much simple. Mind it, I am not a software professional, but after googling and some R&D, I created a webplayer, wherein on the backend, I linked the streaming music hyperlink from respective sources. The player was now working but it had no controls (play pause, stop , volume buttons). It was a site having independent streaming music players, coming out as pop ups, but looked very simple to me. One of the advantages of my streaming music players was, it worked even on a small dialup connections, which means, it was good for people having slower internet access. It was well suited for Dial ups, rather than conventional broadbands which can play MP3 format. I kept in my mind, that the people having slower connections, especially in developing countries, should be able to listen to my streaming music as they cannot hear a streaming music of 128 kbps.

I then thought of putting all the links in a single page. One could listen to the music or look for selective links.But the site had limitations, in terms of its designing and compatibility. It was not at all compatible with Firefox as well as Windows Vista, hence none could listen songs with Vista as its operating system and also Win XP users having Firefox as their browser instead of default Internet Explorer. So in the next phase, I added another player for the same music category, this time it was compatible with Firefox on Win XP as well as on Vista, irrespective of any browser. Now people could listen songs with their Firefox browsers or Internet Explorer on WIn XP and Vista too. For the convenience of people, after adding controls on the streaming players, which was more or less made for Windows OS, people had an options to choose, according their browser and OS. After few weeks, I added controls in the player, which was only compatible with Win 2K, 2003 and Win XP.

Few months later, I registered my site, from free domain to registered domain. I had heard that many streaming radio stations are not compatible on Apple machines, having Safari browser. After doing a lot of search on web, I learnt about Silverlight technology. It promised of cross domain interface, which means it could work on various OS, including Apple Mac. After doing research on it, I came out with my version of Silverlight Streaming radio players, which now made possible for people having Apple Mac machines to hear my streaming radio stations. When someone clicks a music channel, he has 3 players as an option. According to the layman's understanding, a person, can hear music in any of the player, whichever suits him or her. Silverlight based players (source JW) are compatible with all browsers - Internet Explorer, Firefox 2 and above,  Opera and Safari on Mac. So if everything fails, Silverlight should work.

Saya baru belajar salah satu teknik photoshop dari website http://psdtuts.com. Sekarang, dengan menggunakan motto “sampaikanlah walau satu ayat”, saya dengan nekad dan tulus hati hendak berbagi apa yang baru saja saya pelajari. Yaitu mengedit photo dengan tema : super slick dusky lighting effect (jangan tanya saya apa maksudnya, tanya aja ama yang bikin tutorial :P). Yang pasti saya pengen nyoba bikin efek cahaya berpendar dari sebuah foto jelek yang saya punya, biar agak mendingan gitu. Kan katanya bila keahlian motret minim, hasilnya gak bagus dukun photoshop bertindak. Intinya sih belajar, trus ditulis lagi biar saya inget. Syukur-syukur bisa berguna bagi bangsa dan negara yang baca.

Awas! Banyak gambar, pemberitahuan bagi yang ngirit bandwidth. Selamat mencoba.

1|satu Foto Awal

Saya pilih foto ini karena pengen bikin sinar mataharinya lebih dramatis, mengeluarkan garis-garis pendarnya yang ekstrim.

2|dua Duplikasi Layer + Desaturasi

Duplikasi layer foto awal tadi, caranya klik kanan pada nama layer. Kemudian didesaturasi (diitem putihin) Pake shortcut Ctrl+Shift+U. Biar gambar lebih kontras dan terang mari kita mainkan di Image > Adjustment > Brightness/Contrast. Kurang lebih sampai seperti gambar disamping.

3|tiga Gaussian Blur

Berikutnya, masih di layer yang sama, kita buat gambar tersebut menjadi blur. Masuk ke tombol Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Besaran pixle radiusnya sebenarnya tergantung ukuran pixel foto yang kita pakai. Semakin besar foto semakin besar angka pixel radiusnya untuk membuat gambar menjadi blur seperti disamping.

4|empat Blending Mode - Overlay

Teknik ini sebenernya udah sering saya lakuin, tapi biasanya gambar blur tadi saya blending mode pake softlight tanpa di desaturasi terlebih dahulu. Baru sekarang pake teknik yang ini. Hasilnya sama-sama bikin gambar jadi berefek blur yang lembut, cuma kalo gak didesaturasi warna gambar jadi lebih ngejreng, jadi saya harus menurunkan saturasinya lagi. Kata tutorial yang saya baca, ini teknik mudah yang sering banget dipake (blurring teus di-overlay). Maka pesannya: jangan berlebihan pemakaiannya kalo gak mau gambar kita jadi gak jelas.

5|lima New Layer - Blush-On (halaah…)

Ini bener-bener ngikutin titah paduka tutorial cuma kalo dia kasi blush-on warna pink. saya ogah... jadi saya kasi warna krem aja sebelum di blending mode - color. Bikin layer baru dulu dibagian paling atas, trus diwarnain (bebas pake cara apa aja, mau pake paint bucket atau di fill) dan dipilih aja daerah mana yang mau dikasi kesan warna kekuningan atau kemerahan tadi, cuma pinggirannya sebaiknya soft, jadi hapus daerah pinggirnya pake soft brush eraser. Ato kalo pemalas kaya saya, masuk lagi ke Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Pilih ukuran pixel sampe ujung-ujung layer berwarna tadi jadi halus kaya gambar disamping.

6|enam Blending Mode - Color

Layer berwarna tadi lalu kita overlay pake Blending Mode - Color. Hasilnya jadi lebih hangat kekuningan seperti ini. (lama-lama saya kok ngerasa kaya ngajarin masak gini :P)

7|tujuh Filter - Glowing Edges

Naah, ini dia yang mulai seru sodara-sodara. Kita bakalan bikin garis-garis sinar sang mentari. Caranya duplikat layer foto awal, lalu darg ia ke posisi diatas seluruh layer. Kemudian masuk ke tombol Filter > Stylize > Glowing Edges. Tutorial yang saya baca dia kasi besaran 1, 11, dan 15 untuk Width, Brightness, dan Smoothness. Tapi setelah saya coba, yang glowing cuma batas candi dan langitnya (lihat garis putih diagambar dibawah?) Sementara garis mataharinya gak glowing sama sekali. Yaaah... namanya juga foto jelek amatiran, hehehe... mataharinya kurang kontras jadi untuk brightness saya katrol sampai angka 14 sampe bisa muncul kaya gambar dibawah. Konsekuensinya, garis antara candi dan langit jadi tebel banget. Maka saya apus dulu dikit-dikit garis putihnya sampe lumayan tipis, baru masuk ke langkah selanjutnya. :P

8|delapan Filter - Radial Blur

Di proses sebenernya garis putihnya udah gak setebel gambar dibawah karena udah saya tipisin. Kenapa? karena saya gak mau garis itu nanti ngalahin pendar sinar mataharinya. Berikutnya mari kita buat pendar-pendar cahaya mataharinya. Masuk ke Filter > Blur > Radial Blur. Pilih besaran angka 72.

9|sembilan Blending Mode - Screen

Setelah diberi Filter Radial Blur, garis-garis glowing edges tadi akan membentuk pendar-pendar cahaya. Selanjutnya kita overlay menggunakan Blending Mode - Screen. Kebalikan dari Blending Mode - Multiply. Screen menghilangkan warna yang lebih gelap dan mengeluarkan warna yang lebih terang apada dua layer yang bertumpuk. Maka overlay dua layer tersebut akan mejadi seperti ini. Manis bukaaan? *ngumpet sebelum ditimpuk*

10|sepuluh Hue / Saturation

Seperti saya bilang, sebagai murid yang baik, saya nurut aja apa kata tutorial. Dia suruh saya mainkan Hue dan Saturasi dari Layer pendar cahaya tadi, saya ikutin. Padahal males juga, katanya sih biar garis-garis cahayanya lebih hangat dan berkesan kemerahan (reddish). Oh ya jangan lupa check kotak colorize di dalam box tersebut. supaya warnanya mirip sama sinar matahari.

11|sebelas Ulangi Langkah 7,8,9

Selanjutnya ulangi proses Glowing Edges > Radial Blur > Screening gambar beberapa kali menggunakan layer yang sama. Bisa juga menggunakan layer baru hasi duplikasi lalu menyatukannya diakhir hingga garis-garisnya mendekati bentuk yang lebih nyata. Oke, jujur saja kalo udah urusan pilih mana yang lebih real dari sekian banyak pilihan hasil yang sudah kita ciptakan saya sering bingung juga. Subjektif banget, so' kalo udah klik. stop aja. Ato kalo udah males kaya saya, beberapa kali ngulang sudah cukup. Gambar di bawah ini layer ke tujuh yang saya buat, hasil-hasil sebelumnya garis-garis cahayanya kenceng banget. Mungkin karena di proses berikutnya saya masih pake brightness 14 di filter Glowing Edges. So di percobaan ke tujuh ini brightness Filter Glowing Edges-nya saya kurangi menjadi 3 saja. Intinya sesuai selera anda saja lah, subjektifitas berlaku sangat tinggi disini, saya menyerah untuk hal itu. :P

12|dua belas Soft Brush > Bola Sinar Matahari

Berikutnya buat bola sinar matahari menggunakan Soft Brush ukuran cukup besar (sesuai ukuran yang diinginkan untuk pendar mataharinya).

13|tiga belas Outer Glow

Lagi-lagi biar hangat, pendar bola mentari tadi kita berikan efek Outer Glow. Caranya klik kanan pada nama layer lalu pilih Blending Options > Outer Glow dengan color overlay berwarna oranye.

14|empat belas Smudge Tool

Pilih Smudge Tool seperti yang tertera digambar dibawah. Fungsinya untuk membuatbola sinar matahari berbentuk lebih lancip-lancip. Contoh suksesnya seperti ini. Saya menyerah hanya sampai bentuk seperti dibawah, karena lama banget sampai bisa jadi kaya gambar yang di tutorial. *gak sabaran banget*

15|lima belas Teks

Berikutnya memberi teks "Sandyakala ning Majapahit". Kenapa itu judulnya, karena waktu saya motret foto ini, yang terpikir oleh saya adalah kalimat itu. Sebuah judul Drama tersohor karya Sanusi Pane tersebut. Adakah yang tahu arti kata Sandyakala? Benarkah artinya Kehancuran? Maaf OOT. Font yang saya pakai Bradley Hand ITC. Saya mencari font yang sedikit klasik namun tidak terlalu keriting, yang paling cocok dari seluruh font di komputer saya nampaknya ya font ini. Walopun masih penasaran kalo ada font lain yang lebih masuk. Ada saran? Oh iya, fontnya saya merge jadi layer lalu di Overlay Blending Mode.

Vector image diunduh dari Arsenal's Freebie Section.

Kemudian di invert menjadi putih (Ctrl+I)

Karena sulur-sulurnya menutupi huruf-huruf Majapahit, saya transform dengan Warp. Ketik Ctrl+T > klik kanan > Warp. Kemudian mainkan vektor-vektornya sesuaibentuk yang diinginkan.

19|sembilan belas Vector Image’s Outer Glow

Berikutnya membuat Vector Image menjadi berpendaran, berikan efek Outer Glow pesris seperti di langkah ke-13. Maka akan dihasilkan gambar seperti berikut.

20|dua puluh Final Touch : The Last Reddish Blush-On

Seperti saya bilang tadi, penulis tutorialnya senang sekali dengan efek reddish dan kesan hangat, maka untuk sentuhan terakhir berikan layer baru berwarna kemerahan dengan kode #957070. Set overlay dengan opacity 30%. Dan selesailah masak-memasak proses editing kita hari ini. Selamat mencoba. Resep dapat dilihat di Tabloid Bintang. Salam. :D

The image is made up of a number of layers, all of which are given a degree of opacity to give the illusion that they blend together to form one image. Therefore this tutorial focuses on how to create new layers and use them to our advantage. The finished banner will look like this:

OK, start up Fireworks and choose File>New. Create a white canvas that is 750x140px. Select the marquee tool and select the whole canvas. This should surround the image with a blue line. Now select the gradient tool and choose your too colours that you want to form the background of your image:

Click and drag from one corner to the opposite corner to achieve a diagonal gradient covering the whole of your image. This will form the foundation of our banner, everything else will build on top of this. So make sure you are happy with the colours!

Next go ahead and create a new layer (the folder with the plus icon):

You should now see Layer 2 created. Click Layer 2, then use the marquee tool to select the whole canvas. Your layer window should now look like this:

This is important as it allows us to change each layer's opacity individually. Select the brush tool, change the size to 100, it's edge to 0, it's colour to black, and then choose a texture. For this tutorial I chose line-vert, and change the amount of texture to 100.

Ok now paint the whole cavass using this brush. Don't worry that you can't see the background anymore, we will fix that next.

Select the subselection tool (the white arrow). Now click the layer 2 bitmap in the layer panel. We can now change the opacity level for this layer, revelaing the background behind it. Change it to about 20:

Create a new layer the same way as before, choose the brush tool and this time choose a diferent texture. For mine I chose swish. I changed the hardness and opacity of the brush and painted small areas in the corner. Change the opacity of this layer again the blend it with the layers below.

I created 2 more layers. One on which I inserted a load of 0's and 1's to give the image a technical feel! The other layer I placed the main text on, and this time kept the opacity at 100. Incedently the font I used is called Qubix.

By the time you have completed, your layer panel will look something like this:

And there we have it, a very simple and quick way to make a cool looking banner. Feel free to upload your attempt so we can all have a look!

Hace unos días recibí mi primera guitarra eléctrica... una Ibanez AF75 TDG. Como ven no estaba listo para dar un gran paso y pasar directamente a una stratocaster, telecaster, lespaul u otra de cuerpo sólido... la idea era hacer una transición con una con caja acústica... además que el sonido que da va bien con el estilo de música que me gusta, además que me permite tocar sin amplificación.

Si hay algo interesante en este tipo de guitarras son los detalles... y si no estas en un verdadero estudio como para controlar la luz ambiente o dejar un fondo de un color definido lo mejor para hacerlo es con la fotografía macro.

Aqui ya estaba usando la 50mm f/1.8 invertida con una iluminación lateral izquierda bastante cerca. Normalmente para obtener una mayor profundidad de campo (ya bastante reducida en macro) cierro bastante el diafragma por lo que acerco bastante la fuente de luz al sujeto... además obtendo una luz más suave. Estas son las 6a, 5a y una parte de la 4a cuerda sobre el puente (para los entendidos las cuerdas son D'Addario XL Nickel Round Wounds... que vienen con la guitarra de fábrica).

Esta es la parte de la base... el tiracuerdas que tiene un pequeña inscripción Ibanez. De estas hice una decena aproximadamente pero en la mayoría veía las macro-imperfecciones del metal además de las marcas de contacto... pero en esta foto ven que no se ve nada? es sólo porque se ve la superficie del softbox del flash. Para eviter reflejos duros usé un filtro polarizante. Abajo se ve el gancho para anclar la correa.

Justamente de lo que hablaba en la foto anterior... una vista frontal del ancla para la correa. Para que se hagan una idea de la magnificación al usar una 50mm f/1.8 invertida... esta foto no fue recortada verticalmente.

Esta fue la primera que hice de la serie. La hice con la Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G VR y con la iluminación exactamente sobre la caja de la guitarra a una distancia de unos 25 cm aproximadamente.

Una de mis favoritas de la serie. Esta es la perilla de volumen de uno de los pickups. La parte superior es transparente lo que hace que se formen figuras distorsionadas de la perilla que esta justo detrás a la derecha. Ilumimación superior bastante cercana otra vez.

Una sección del puente con la 6a cuerda. La iluminación esta vez estaba justo sobre la lente.

Otra de mis favoritas pero con un encuadre que se podría mejorar aún más teniendo la libertad de cambiar la focal... quizas dando una mayor profundidad a las cuerdas. Iluminación lateral.

La iluminación estuvo a cargo de un flash Nikon SB-600 fuera del cuerpo de la cámara conectado con un cable TTL Nikon SC-29. Como accesorio para la difusión de la luz usé un softbox Photoflex LiteDome xs. Espero escribir algo específicamente sobre este softbox para darles detalles del efecto de usarlo y algunos ejemplos comparativos... más tarde.

NOTA AL PIE

Si en lugar de esta guitarra hubiera escogido una electroacústica habría seleccionado una de la línea Ibanez de madera exótica (EW)... seguramente la Ibanez EW20ZWENT fabricada con madera de zebra de África (African Zebrawood).

Adobe's plans were revealed yesterday by Adobe VP Jim Guerard, who was a featured speaker at the Beet.TV Executive Roundtable held on the Stanford Campus.

If the Adobe project is widely adopted, it will have a profound impact on how Flash video is searched and discovered. Right now there is very little text data in Flash files. Recently YouTube began including voice-to-text generated metadata into some of the clips in the presidential campaign.

Buscando una forma fácil y rápida para almacenar mis paletas de colores en un mismo lugar, me e encontrado con el Color Browser, una aplicación que permite hacer una biblioteca en tu computadora con todas esas paletas que necesites tener a la mano. Esta una aplicación desarrollada en Adobe Air también nos permite importar paletas que ya hayamos creado en Kuler (también de Adobe).

So lets get started!!! First of all you want to open up Photoshop.  (Duh :P ) Here is the original photo that I am going to work on...

Ok now the first thing that you are going to do is zoom in ok the photo so that you can work easily on the face.  Click on the healing brush tool and minimize the size of it to relatively small (you can adjust the size of the brush using the [ and ] keys.  Now you want to remove distracting blemishes and imperfections on the skin by pressing alt and clicking on a shade of the skin that is similiar to the area you are perfecting. 

Now the next step is to go up to Layer and click.  Go down to New and over to select Layer.  Once you have this new layer you want to select the Brush tool.  Once you've selected that you want to enable Airbrush.  The airbrush option is a botton that looks like a pen with a squigly line.  It is located at the top of the screen to the right of Flow.  Once you've selected that you want to lower your Opacity to about 18 or 19% (feel free to set your own opacity if you're not satisfied with the result you're getting).  Now for the Airbrush you're going to was a relatively big brush.  Now select similiar shaded areas (like you did with the healing brush) and swoop the brush across the face in little swoops.  You're going to want to do this around most of  the face, avoiding the eyes and getting into the hair  and such.  Don't worry too much about getting into those area's though because you can fix that in the next step.

Now you are going to go back up to Layer and click.  Go down to Add Layer Mask and go over to select Reveal All.  Make sure you are still on the Airbrush mode and then reduce the size the size of the brush to about the size of an eraser or a little smaller.  Press the \ button on your keyboard.  Now you you want to outline around the face that you don't want the airbrush to effect.  Raise the opacity back up to about 80% or so and outline around the hair that is around the face, the nostrils, eyes, eyebrows, mouth and clothes if you airbrushed on ther neck or any other place.  It should be a red color as you outline.  It's fun because they will end up looking like demons!  LoL

Once you've finshed outlining, you are going to click off of the white Layer of Layer one and click the gray and white checkered Layer one that is to the left of the layer you just outlined on. Notice up on the above pictures the layer tab.  Thats where you want to click.  Now you want to go up to Filter and go down to Noise and go over to select add noise.  If you raise the noise all the way you you should easily be able to see everywhere that you airbrushed.  You want to add about 5% or 6% to the photo to bring a little texture back into the face to match the rest of the photo otherwise your model might start to look like a doll.  So now you're done!! At least with my method.  So hear is our finished product....

Again this isn't my best photo, or my best retouching but it got the job done.  I have a head ache and I'm gonna go to bed now :p So I really do hope this helped :)  Let me know how it goes for you!!!

The project is what we call a micro-site, or a subsection of a larger site. This particular micro-site is the redesign of the athletes section on NikeGolf.com. I'll keep the description here short, but if you're interested in reading more, I also blogged about it on the Flash blog that myself and my fellow developers co-author.

The Athletes section features a 3D carousel displaying the many tournament wins achieved by Nike Athletes this year. It also is built to accept many forms of media (video, images, wallpapers, etc.) and a list of particular athletes’ Nike equipment. All five members of the Flash team took part in the project and pulled it together to meet a very serious deadline. I might also mention that the 3D rendering on the carousel section is true 3D rendering, and in ActionScript 2, no less. For those who don't know much about Flash, thats not an easy feat. 

I'll try to keep posting as we launch more and more sites that I've had a hand in developing. (More 3D stuff on the way, this week I've been working with Papervision.) Its been one of the best experiences of my life working at Summit and I'm particularly proud of the NikeGolf Athletes section, as I had a major hand in its core structuring and development. Its been one of the first sites or micro-sites that I've had this major of a role in developing at Summit.

I've been having ridiculous problems with the color profiles on my Samsung SyncMaster 225BW. I'm pretty sure that it's not Samsung's fault, since the monitor is by far the best I've ever had, but any color-profile aware application ends up looking like crap (see screenshot above, or this blog post).

Unfortunately, it's very difficult to get the original CD/software for the monitor if you've lost it, but it seems that the best workaround for this is to remove the existing (faulty) color profile and replace it with a working color profile, such as one from Adobe:

To do this:

1. Download the Adobe ICC Windows Color Profile from this link:
   http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/iccprofiles/icc_eula_win_end.html
2. Unzip the archive and navigate to the folder "RGB Profiles"
3. Right click on "AdobeRGB1998.icc" and choose "Install Profile"
4. To ensure that the profile is enabled, right click on the desktop, choose "Properties", click the "Settings" tab, then the "Advanced..." button.
5. Once in the Advanced Properties, click the "Color Management" tab.
6. Remove any existing profile by clicking remove, then click "Add..." and choose "AdobeRGB1998.icc" from the folder displayed and click "Add"
7. Click "Set as Default", OK, then OK again to close the window.
8. Then restart Windows.

For reference, your color profile dialog should look like this:

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling AIR, but it turns out all I had to do was the following:

Uninstalling Adobe Apollo: it's simple!

1. Go to ./Library/Frameworks/ (not YourUsername/Library) and delete the folder named "Adobe Apollo.framework". 
2. Empty your trash
3. There's no step three…that's it!

• Es necesario desinstalar cualquier versión anterior del plugin instalada en el equipo borrando los archivos libflashplayer.so y flashplayer.xpt del directorio /home/.mozilla/plugins.

• Ahora descargamos el script de instalación, lo descomprimimos y ejecutamos el archivo flashplayer-installer.

Esto instalará esta última versión del plugin para Flash en nuestro Hardy Heron pero, por norma, suele dar problemas a los que usamos la versión AMD64 de Ubuntu. Siendo previsor, he aprovechado los paquetes .deb que están preparando para Intrepid Ibex para hacer una instalación más sencilla, si cabe, y evitar problemas en mi Ubuntu 8.04.
